She drove us around and looked at properties that we were interested in. She gave us some great advice on things that were good and bad. This service was free and I would recommend her to a friend. She was very nice, personable and knowledgeable.

1A ! She is fun, easy going and got the job done in great time. We were competing against many other offers and she stayed until the very late evening hours with me reviewing the co prices so we could find the perfect price. I don't think we paid a cent more than what we should (we came slightly below the best offer, but our dossier was stronger)

I can say with conviction that Shelly is absolutely the best realtor I have ever worked with. She is a great listener and communicator, efficient in finding the right property for her client based on their taste and budget, and proficient in negotiation and preparing offer letters and the related paperwork. She is always available, even in the evenings and weekends. All in all,  she's the best real estate agent that I have ever known.

Shelly went way far above and beyond what a realtor usually does! She took me by the hand and led me through my first house sale, telling me which changes were worth doing in order to get top dollar, and which things I could let go.  I knew that I could call and ask her a question any time, and even though she was very busy, she always returned my calls the same day.  She gave me very good advice as to how to price my house.  I took her advice, and I got multiple offers ABOVE the sales price! After the sale of my house, she helped me find the right condo to buy.  She helped me find the right people to do the necessary work before I moved in, too.  Shelly is THE BEST!! She was recommended to me, and I would recommend her to anyone who needs a realtor! She has such a great personality, too, so she will make it all enjoyable.

First off, let me say that I am someone who is very skeptical about the value that most realtor's provide.  I've bought and sold many homes and my preference is to skip using realtors whenever possible and use flat fee realtors for those things I can't do myself.  I've used full-service realtors before and unless I was in a different city than the home I was selling I never thought they earned their money.
But when we moved to California it became clear that trying to buy a house without a full-service realtor would put you at a serious disadvantage.  So with some trepidation I hired Shelly to be our buyer's agent.
It turned out to be a great decision.
Shelly provided the basic services I expected: providing listings and information about neighborhoods, taking us to tour listings and communicating with sellers' agents.  But she also went above and beyond what I expected.  On a couple of homes she had her husband (a former contractor) come out and give us an idea of the cost of remodeling homes we were interested in.  She was able to develop a strong rapport with other agents that made them want to work with us.  And most impressively, she was a masterful negotiator, saving us a significant amount of money on the final price of our home.
As a bonus, she was able to provide the names of several service providers to assist with our remodel and it is clear that she keeps close tabs on whether they perform to her expectations.  She also put out several requests for bids for our termite work and arranged for the lowest bidder to come do the work after our house was purchased.
We were very pleased with Shelly's services and would gladly hire her again.

Shelly handled all the details of obtaining inspections, hiring great workers to paint the interior, remove carpet and refinish hardwood floors. replace window glass, and do major yard cleanup and hauling.  She also arranged for a 2 day estate sale at the house which was conducted by an estate sale specialist who organized all the furniture and belongings that were to be sold--all we had to do was remove the items we were keeping. She and her husband personally selected and replaced some of the outdated fixtures and hardware in the home. She also arranged for and personally paid for the home to be professionally staged which helped bring in multiple offers following the first open house.  The accepted offer was over the asking price.
Shelly followed up on all the completed work, and kept inspections and repairs on track to meet our time line for the sale. 
She is a very positive, professional, pleasant agent with a can-do attitude!  She responds quickly to phone calls, e-mails, and texts.  Shelly is completely comfortable with the sale process, and the emotional issues clients encounter.  Her reassuring and enthusiastic manner helped smooth over the few bumps we encountered in the process.  I was impressed at how well she interacted and communicated with buyers' agents, neighbors, clients, and coworkers.  Shelly made the home sale experience exciting in a good way, and it was always a pleasure working with her.  The best decision my sister and I made in our real estate transaction was to choose Shelly to represent us!

Shelly has helped us buy two houses. She's amazing! She is extremely responsive and goes out of her way to meet our needs. She is extremely knowledgeable. She is always available and she works very hard to find what we need and not what she thinks we need. She is not afraid to give her opinion, which is really helpful.

Shelly (Potvin) helped me to sell my house in Palo Alto and buy a new townhouse in Mountain View. We sold the PA house in January in one weekend, $25K over the asking price. I bought my new townhouse in May, with $25K in upgrades, a reduced price (about $5K), a rate reduction and on top of it Shelly bought me an air conditioner. The sales went smoothly and Shelly was with me every step of the way. In particular, when we sold the PA house, Shelly took responsibility for all of the little fixes that had to take place and the staging. As I am a working single Mother, her assistance was invaluable. Shelly has also participated in three other sales or properties for our family. We have all found her to be ultimately trustworthy, very helpful and professional, and just really wonderful to work with. I will definitely call her back when I sell this townhouse and move again.

I have used Shelly for home purchases and sales three times because she is fantastic. For my first home buying experience, I intended to interview multiple agents but looked no further than Shelly because I felt so comfortable with her at our first meeting. Not only is she incredibly professional and knowledgeable in her field, she is trustworthy and reliable. With Shelly, it's all about the client. During each of the three times I utilized her services to find a house, I always felt like I was her only client, even though I know she had a few at a time. This was a very successful home buying experience due to Shelly's knowledge of the Bay Area real estate market and her enthusiastic efforts to find the right home for me. I contacted Shelly in late December to let her know I was ready to begin looking for a home. I am a first time home buyer and she walked me very carefully and with in depth explanations of the process we would be going through together. She spent a number of hours listening to my description of the home I was looking for and we visted a few locations. A couple of weeks later, Shelly called and said a lovely home just came on the market and she immediately thought to call me because it had a special feel about it. She recommended I come right away to look at it. I just loved it. Because she listened so carefully to my description of the perfect home, her tireless pursuit in a market with low inventory, and her warm, caring personality, I was in this new home within 3 weeks of first seeing it!

We decided it was time to buy our first home and Shelly was our agent of choice. She explained the whole process, got us in touch with an excellent mortgage broker and negotiated an excellent deal for us. We'll use her for all our real estate purchases!

In addition to always being readily available, what I most appreciate about Shelly is that she didn't push or rush me in any way. I truly felt that she wanted me to find my ideal situation, no matter how long it took. Never did I sense a need for her to influence the process to 'make a sale' more quickly, as I hear is often the case. Moreover, I trusted and relied on her experience and opinions on my decision. Shelly is the voice of reason. I knew her prior, in a social sense. I asked her to be my Realtor when I was starting to look for a home. She guided me through the rigorous process from start to finish, when I bought and when I sold. She LISTENED to me, which was important to me. She recommended a mortgage broker who got me a very good rate and also had good customer service skills (I left a referral for him as well). When I purchased my home, I had an idea of what I wanted, but I have numerous questions in regards to location, equity building, and property condition. She was able to answer my questions. She previewed many places ahead of time, to save me time. She found me a great place. When I sold my home 3 years later, she told me exactly what I needed to do to obtain the best price possible. The key was to let her do her job. She was dead-on. 'Thorough' is the best word to describe how she operates. Her cell phone always seemed to be on, which was comforting to me.

Our overall experience with her was outstanding. We were high maintenance, I must say. We were leary of much of the process, but we quickly realized that we could rely on her guidance. She negotiated our contract for three days straight and we ended up with a very favorable outcome. She always was easy to get a hold of when we had a question. She does not sell real estate in the east bay or San Francisco I recall. The seller paid her commission, so that is why there was no cost. We recommend her to everyone we know!
