Barbara Williams - Realtor

Abysmal experience. We went to view a home with our representing agent. The arrangement was made between our agent and the listing agent, Barbara Williams. She arranged for the sellers to be out of the house and for us to enter the premises with our own agent. Instead, when we arrived, the sellers were still at home and we could hear Barbara chatting very loudly and laughing with her clients inside of the home. We had to wait outside in the rain for her to finally allow them to sneak out of the back door, which didn’t end up mattering as they passed us at the gate leading to the front anyway, as the side gate is next to the front door of the home. Awkward at best. After that fiasco, she hovered around us the entire time we viewed the home, even though she told our agent that she would not be present at our showing. When we asked her questions she brushed us off and went on random tangents. She talked to us condescendingly, as we are young first time home buyers (but myself and my partner are doctors and very well educated). And even said sarcastically “what do I know, I’m just an old realtor” without actually answering any questions. When we asked about the timeline of the sellers moving out, she stated they wanted to be gone immediately and were interested in selling as-is. Then she said she had recently received two offers. When our agent asked her to disclose this information in more detail in order to make a more competitive offer, she said she would absolutely not share that information with us, as she had not yet discussed with the sellers (the ones she was laughing with just 15 minutes prior). We felt that she was being dishonest and manipulative in order to bring in a higher bid. Our real estate agent submitted our competitive offer the next day, but was unable to get ahold of Barbara over a period of several hours during normal business day. She finally responded the next day after that, stating that she would discuss our offer with the sellers. 4 hours later, we called our agent to get an update, but at that point he had attempted to call Barbara every hour and her phone went straight to voicemail. When he finally got ahold of her, she told him she wouldn’t accept our offer, made an excuse about the pre-approval status of our loan, and then refused to tell our agent what the offer they would accept would be if we were willing to raise the offer. Don’t do business with her. She is shady and manipulative and only has her own interest in mind. Our real estate agent told us that phone conversation he had with her was the worst professional conversation he has ever had and in addition her non-transparency was incredibly unethical in real estate. Horrible horrible horrible realtor.
