I chose Richland based on yelp reviews that praised them highly. Including for their timeliness.
I got no other quotes, so I can't compare their prices. From yelp, they were middling priced. I think their price was fair from the thorough treatment I got from Matt, the tradesman who spot treated my front door.
I think Richland did quality work.
The reasons I'm giving them a mediocre review and won't go back to them are:
1) inability to keep their own schedule
2) poor communication
1) I think this is in part a front office problem. When Matt came out to treat, he was scheduled for 10 am. The front office phoned me at 9:30 to tell me he'd be late. He didn't arrive until 11.
When another tradesman, S, came out for some follow up work in Oct, HE arrived 8 min. early! and was completely unapologetic. I work from home and bill my clients by 15 min. increments. I'm on time, and so are my clients because they're paying me. I expect those I'm paying to show up on time, too.
2) I was uncomfortable communicating with the man who gave the estimate and did the follow up work. It's hard to describe why. It was nothing egregious. It was more discomfort with his manner and way he delivered info. I do think he knows what he's talking about and does good work. I deal with many different folk all the time, where they are my client. When I am the client, I want to be comfortable.
I joined Angie's list to find another vendor to tent the house. I found my stomach was in knots with the thought of dealing with Richland again. Though, as I've said, I think ultimately the quality of their work is very good and prices are fair.
