He no showed no called us once. So right off the bat I was extremely upset because I had to take the day off of work and leave the dogs at Day Care for the day only for him NOT TO SHOW UP. I thought to myself thats OK, the house already was appraised by the bank for more than we needed, the entire unit was inspected 10 months ago and had a few issues, and finally we renovated the entire unit short of pulling walls and molding down. So John shows up, gives the buying agents big hugs and coldly says, Home Inspector and hands a card to my agent. Right away we knew it was going to be a rough ride, but we figured the unit already appraised and is in gorgeous condition minus a few things we are aware of. Well John proceeded to attempt to rip my electrical panel out of the wall and then quipped to me and some friends who were waiting for him to finish (he was late and I had plans already), "You and your boys put the wrong moldings up." First off, why would you say that in front of a client, second off you're and inspector opinion is not part of your job. Code and safety is. The amount of antagonizing remarks by John escalated to the point where the agents intervened again to hush him. By this point I am furious because this is my house and this man just destroyed my electrical panel and talked trash about me in front of prospective buyers. He then proceeded to try and turn my living room into a Match.com commercial. The inspection was already over and he spent another 10 minutes in my living room talking about the buyers profession. Look I still live here leave!!!!!!!!! After his little match making session he just left. Left the electrical panel needing a complete repainting and ruining bolts and molding, he also I guess decided he'd put all his force on a drain plug switch and managed to sever two bolts holding it on. I don't know what John's point was but either way a smooth sailing 20 day escrow is now looking like a no sale. I am not the first this has happened to. This is straight from Redfin. It appears John stays off review sites for a reason. $655K Condo Buyer (Closed) Sep 4, 2012Long Beach, CA [Alamitos Beach]I selected this inspector, but I knew I was in trouble when the sellers agent walked up to us on inspection day and they gave eachother a big hug. During the inspection, I asked the inspector if the wood floors were structurally sound, and he confirmed. After move-in, I found that I now need to repair several areas that feel like you could fall through, and the floor is so uneven, I need to shim my dressers so they dont topple over. I now have a big repair bill! http://www.redfin.com/openbook/home-inspection/southern-california-john-stovall-sp3070
