Mr. Hoffman installed my Forced Air and Heating and really did an excellent job; however, when I've tried to call him back to service the unit he never returns my calls.  Thinking that he may be on vacation, I have patiently waited and tried again after two to three weeks.  I've never been called back.

This was my first time using Angie's List.
The previous 'contractor-type' guy was NOT from Angie's List.  He had taken things apart and not put them back together, leaving a mess, wanted a signed agreement and charged for the mess he made.  His on-the-spot estimate was about $5000 higher than the amount I eventually paid when I got smart enough to choose from Angie's List.
Hoffman was chosen from Angie's list.  I called and did leave a message.  I received a return call, not immediately, but in a timely manner, and arranged for a visit at the home where the services were needed.  The business owner/contractor himself arrived as arranged, apologized for being a few minutes late, introduced himself and briefly explained his business and experience.  I showed and told him what I wanted done then he set about doing the estimate. He was very careful and thorough, measured and counted every vent, and didn't take anything more apart. (Things were already broken by the previous guy.)
At the conclusion of his inspection and collection of information, he gave an estimate of the time it would take (about 1 day, possibly a day and a half at most) and stated the type of equipment that he thought would work best.  He also stated that some options were available that would affect the final cost. That helped me understand why he did not give a fixed cost estimate at the time.  He promised that he would prepare cost estimates for the various options we had discussed and would email them to me.
I received the estimates by email and chose the options I preferred. The date was set and the work was done. 
Hoffman was professional and obviously knew his craft well.  The work was completed in one day!  He and his staff did an excellent job. They were clean, courteous, professional, friendly, and attentive to detail.  I was pleasantly surprised that the price did not change.  I asked about that because I have become accustomed to price increases from contractors, auto repair/service centers, plumbers, etc.  Hoffman said he does not change his estimate.  If he is wrong, he believes that it's his fault and he takes the hit.
Without doubt, the best contracting work I have had done.

The price was very good.  The installation was prompt and without any hassle.  the system appears to work well.  i had a few requests and he kindly accommodated them.  highly recommend his service.

From the initial contact Dan Hoffman was very prompt and professional.  We had contacted 5 other companies and Hoffman was the only one who did followup to see what he needed to do to get the business.  He was receptive to working out the details to give us the price and service we were looking for.  I can truly say there was not one negative thing about our experience with Hoffman Heating & Air.  We are very pleased to have found Hoffman Heating & Air and we would highly recommend them for anything to do with your heating & air issues.

The techmician arrived when they said he would.  He was very professional and helpful.  He finished his tasks promptly and explained any problems encountered.

From the time I made the first call to Hoffman Heating and Air to completion of the install everything thing went quickly and smoothly. Hoffman Heating and Air replaced a 45 year old heater with a new 4 ton unit. Lots of attention was paid to detail. The vent pipe was painted to match all the vent pipes on the roof and the thermostat was set. Dan took the time to explained the new unit and thermostat completely. He answered all my questions and was easy to work with. I will use Hoffman Heating and Air again.

We had already used Hoffman Heating and Air in the past when we needed work on our system and replacement of the thermostat. So it was a no-brainer to call Dan when we wanted to replace our older units for the high efficiency ones before the end of the year (2010) to get the tax rebate. He worked with us to meet that deadline even though it was a very busy time for him. (Everyone else had the same rebate in mind!)

Dan thoroughly explained the various options in size and efficiency, as well as the price differences. He also told us that he would provide the paper needed for our income taxes, which he did.

They showed up on time and did a great job. The new heating unit had to be carried upstairs and into the attic but they managed it without any problems. (No bumping into walls or woodwork--yay!) The air conditioning unit was replaced outside. The orginal unit had not been wired properly--maybe the building codes have changed in 17 yrs?--so they fixed it for no additional charge.

I highly recommend this company!!

This company was excellent and run like a business.  Returned phone calls, showed up on time fully prepared.  Was clean, neat, got  right to work. Very professional, while being informative.  Quickly found problems I had reported, explained the solution(s) . Did not at any time try and sell me any service/part that I did not want.  eg., could have installed a new filter. Instead, cleaned the existing filter in my presence and showed me why it was just fine, while also showing me how I could check it and clean it on my own, which original installer had insisted only be done by a professional.
Look no further, for industrial and/or residence,  this is the best !!

He is very thorough and nice. He explained the entire process to us. He was knowledgeable about the size of the unit we would need. He also walked us through a number of options that were available to us and did not try to up sell us. He installed the ducting work as well.

We were very satisfied with the excellent service she received from Hoffman Heating and Air.  It was a pleasure dealing with Dan Hoffman. She received other bids for similar amounts but decided to go with Hoffman because of what was covered by his bid.  He explained exactly what type of equipment was needed for the size condo. We would highly recommend Hoffman Heating and Air.

Excellent! Showed up on time, gave us different price points with no pressure to upsell anything, did a good job, explained everything and had a positive attitude. We had several quotes and he was the cheapest by about $500 on one and $2000 on another! We would definately use this company again and tell our friends and family about hoffman heating and air.

I am a person with Multiple Sclerosis so my air conditioning is very, very important to me. On one of the few hot days we've experienced here in Long Beach, CA this year my A/C decided to quit. I went on Angie's list (this would be my first experience with a vendor since signing up) and found Hoffman Heating and Air just a mile away from my home. I called and left a message and was called back by the owner, Mike, within fifteen minutes. I explained that the hot temperature might effect my ability to walk. As Mike began apologizing that he wouldn't be able to make it out that day, my past experiences sent me immediately to, "oh, brother..." Then he said, "Would tomorrow morning be okay?" He showed up on time, was extremely professional and found the problem within minutes of arriving. He had to go get supplies and was back within a half hour. After fixing the problem for a more than reasonable price, he then asked if he could do a maintenance check on all of the heating and air conditioning system ~~ free of charge. He made sure everthing was in proper working order and it didn't cost me an extra cent! I would highly recommend Hoffman Heating and Air to anyone.

This is our first time using Angie's list. We had an excellent experience. Dan (owner) called me right away to schedule an appointment. Warren (tech) came out to service our system. Warren was very friendly and knowledgable. I will definitely use them again for future maintenance.

Dan Hoffman -HVAC Hoffman Heating and Air. Recently we had an attic installation of a heater and air conditioning with special air filtration system. Our home, in Long Beach, CA., was built in 1929 and has floor heaters with lathe & plaster walls/ceilings. The installation was flawless. During our information gathering process it became apparent that instead of just central air conditioning as originally planned, we also would have our old heating upgraded. Additionally, the system had to run quietly. We took about 30 days to decide. Many calls and emails were made to Dan. He responded timely to both and made at least five adjustments to our proposal. It's amazing how many options we had available to us. My big concern initially was that the cutting of holes for the ducting in the curved lathe and plaster ceilings we have. I have asthma and was also concerned with too much dust occurring during installation. In fact, we covered our furniture with plastic sheets, but it was not necessary. Dan's personnel did such a wonderful job that there was no dust problem. I attribute this to his workmen using new blades after cutting just two holes - they cut a total of 10 holes. Impressive. The outdoor portion of the installation was also a concern. We have so many flowers and plants with just small paths to maneuver we were concerned with placement of the air conditioner/condenser and associated piping hitting plants and breaking them - again no problem. Very conscientious workers. It's been five weeks since the installation was completed. And after using the finished system we know we got the system we wanted. I would recommend Hoffman Heating and Air to a friend.

Mr. Hoffman, the owner, responded quickly to my enquiry and came to my house to give me an estimate. He explained fully about the job, the type of furnace he would install, and the price. His was the low estimate, so I called again with questions about the installation and again he responded quickly and was going to do the same type of installation that the high estimate was planning. He was able to do the installation several days later, and it worked exactly as he said it would. His men were professional and well-spoken, and they finished on time. The whole experience was positive, from start to finish.

I liked him because he came out himself, and he was really good. He was on the way to another job, and he made it a point to come out before going there. He said that he would be back at a certain time, and he did come back. They fixed it like they said, and their prices were reasonable.

Called Hoffman in the morning and Dan was out by 2:30pm. Took him minutes to discover the problem was a capaciter. He was gone less then 30 minutes returning with the new part. We had cold air within minutes after he returned. He was great, very professional and effecient. Would hire him again in a heartbeat.

They were very good and I was very pleased with them.

The owner of the company came as requested to inspect our old heater. He took it apart and discovered it was very rusted. I was convinced we needed a new one although he certainly was not pushing me to get one. We discussed in detail the types of heaters and filters available. He then emailed me a proposal with some different options for filters. We decided to go ahead and his crew came promptly as scheduled and installed the new heater and thermostat. My husband was home at the time and was very impressed with their professionalism and their work in general. Everything went as planned-timing, cost, etc. We are very pleased with our new heater and would call on this company again.
