Attempting to work with Ed was such a frustrating experience. Things started off very well. In fact, he came out three times to rebid on the project after the project scope changed. He always seemed patient. After 3 months of going back and forth, it finally came time to schedule the work after receiving Ed's revised quote. In my discussion with him via text, I gave approval to proceed with scheduling. He indicated he needed a deposit so I started asking details about how much so I could write him a check. He works out of Long Beach and I was very mindful of that. The commute to my house could easily be 40 minutes if not more. I was trying to be helpful by suggesting maybe I could mail it to him but he didn't even let me finish! (see screenshot of text conversation) I received his proposal on my iPhone yet he inexplicably went on a tangent ridiculing me for not reading the fine print of his proposal. What kind of contractor does that? He turned a simple question into something that was totally uncalled for. I've never experienced such bad temperament from any contractor in my life. I was referred to Ed Gonzalez Painting from Windows Restoration & Repair and warned them of my experience. His failure in effectively communicating with a customer was completely his doing and he shouldn't blame anyone but himself. Perhaps he's gotten too busy and can treat customers any way he likes, but it's certainly not a way to run a reputable business. I remained loyal to him and considered no other painters to work on my windows except him. But when it came to deliver, he bailed and needlessly wasted my time and his for no reason. The good news is I found a great painter that is phenomenal. If any of you are interested in a reputable and considerate painter, please reach out to me and I will pass along his info.

I was referred to Ed from Norm at Window Restoration and Repair (I reviewed them as well). After spending a small fortune getting all my windows tuned up and weatherstripped (worth it!), I was looking forward to taking care of the aesthetics. These are 90 year old in-swing Douglas Fir casement windows - they had seen many decades since they were cared for properly. Glazing was cracked and falling out, the paint was chipped and all over. Some of the wood was starting to show signs of problems. While the cost might sound high, I can tell you that Ed and his team worked their tails off and did a bang-up job. They spent more than a week just ripping our loose glazing, scraping and sanding the windows and re-glazing. After letting the glazing cure, they came back and put on two hand-painted coats of paint. They made a point of "kissing the glass" with each window to make sure that the glazing stays protected. Ed is great at communicating and his crew are efficient and clean. I have two little ones at home, and they were always careful about not leaving a mess! They even did a complete walk-though with me and my punch list and took care of all the little details. I have a ton of paint work still to do, and based on this job, I will be calling Ed for all of it.
Description of Work: Scraping, sanding, epoxy, window glazing, exterior primer and paint for 30 wood casement windows and a few doors. He also srtipped years of paint off the interior of several of the wood casements

Ed, the owner of the company had good suggestions as to the color of paint, and was professional and helpful. The crew arrived on time, very professional and cleaned up all trash and debris. Ed took it upon himself to have the vents on the roof painted to match the color of the roof. We were very happy with the quality of the work and will employ Ed and his crew for any future projects. My husband and I had such a good rapport with Ed that at the completion of the job we all went to dinner and consider him a friend.
Description of Work: Exterior paint, replaced termite damaged wood and built 2-exterior gates. Stained front door, painted one of the bathrooms and custom painted exterior light fixtures. Also, sanded wrought iron fence and painted it.

This is our second big job with Ed and his team, and we continue to be impressed by the quality of the work and the professionalism. When we decided to replace four windows there wasn't any question that we'd hire Ed to do the stucco patch and exterior painting. We'd worked with him in 2011 to paint the entire exterior and knew what we were getting. Since we had him here, we decided to repaint three bedrooms, which now look absolutely terrific. It's clear that Ed and his painters take great pride in their work, and Ed himself is a great communicator. He's always quick to follow up on phone calls, and stays on top of the work through regular check-ins and visits. We count him among the few contractors that we'll always turn to.
Description of Work: We asked Ed and his team to repair exterior stucco around four windows that we just replaced. Having done that, they painted the stucco patches and fully painted three bedrooms (including trim, ceilings and closet doors).

Ed was referred to us by Window Restoration and Repair after they completed work on our circa 1960 casement windows. We're so glad they hooked us up with Ed. He is a consumate professional (from estimate to job completion) and really helped us to create a great new look for our home (new primary and trim colors). Ed's initial estimate in terms of cost and time to completion were spot on. Though we delayed the initial start date by several days due to the recent wind storms, his team was always prompt, well organized and very productive. Importantly, the attention to detail was always there, which is particularly important when working with older casement windows. We intend to use Ed for any future painting projects we might come up with. For now, we recommend him to all of you.
Description of Work: Full exterior house painting, painting of restored casement windows, painting of two interior rooms.

This report is long overdue. I contacted Ed after referral by Window Replacement and Repair (another great company). I had some minor termite damage to the original wood windowsills fo my home, and also water had been leaking in during rains due to peeling paint on the exterior wood. Though I don't remember the details, there was some difficulty with getting a meeting or maybe it was I had to call repeatedly, which was a little off-putting, but since he was so highly recommended I was undeterred and continued anyway. Once I met with him, I was no longer concerned because he came across as a such a professional in terms of knowing his line of work. We initially planned on just fixing the six problematic windows, but then decided to do all the exterior trim. The quote was very reasonable and just as a lark, I decided to ask him for a quote to paint the exterior stucco too (i.e. the whole house) because I had always hated the color and texture of the texture coat. I was shocked at how affordable that price came back at, so we went for it. His crew was pretty great: on time; did a beautiful job -they used Pratt and Lambert elastomeric paint to help minimize the roughness of the texture; got everything done lickety-split; and cleaned up great too. They were fantastic and Ed was here all the time to check on the job and help me make decisions because I was having a hard time with colors. Just a wonderful experience. In the end, I was super happy with the job and still love how gorgeous my house looks now! We were so happy to have been able to work with Ed. Please note, Ed is bonded, insured and pays worker's comp; at least that was all so when I hired him. And I am pretty sure he is also licensed (I usually verify all that stuff before hiring) so I don't know why his listing here doesn't reflect that. In addition, he is certified to work with lead paint too. Lead turned out not to be an issue for me, but he did all the necessary tests for me at a separate cost.
Description of Work: Patched some termite-eaten windowsills and frames (after testing for lead); stained or painted all exterior frames, doors and balcony; and then painted my entire two story-house's stucco. Also did some repair on the interior around window frames where there was water-intrusion.

Having a 70 year old house built entirely of concrete block has its own challenges. The house flexes reluctantly so that even the cracks have cracks. We have tried to maintain the character of the original house as much as possible while attempting to make improvements and repairs. We recently had all the original windows restored but painting was not included. Fortunately, the contractor highly recommended Ed Gonzalez Painting (the only painter he would recommend to follow up the excellent detail work he had done). I called Ed to set up an appointment so he could see what I needed to have done. Ed called back in a reasonable amount of time and we set a time to meet. I explained I was having the windows worked on and since I was concerned about having raw wood exposed that I needed him to dovetail his work with the window contractor. Ed said this was not a problem and since he was used to working with the other company he would coordinate with them, which he did. The company is both licensed (610464) and insured. Ed told me he understood exactly what I was after and that his people were very meticulous; I would be thrilled with them and that they would be happy to do whatever I needed. What an understatement! Having owned several houses over the years, two of them built in the thirties, I am familiar with good paint jobs and mediocre ones. These guys are great! Ed and his crew, Jesus, Arturo, Fred, Victor and Julio, are the definition of skilled professionals. They like what they do, they like and work well with each other and take a great deal of pride in their work. They replaced broken glass and replaced the glazing where needed. All questions were cheerfully answered and they politely accommodated me whenever I spotted something else I wanted done. The more I saw of their work the more I found for them to do.
Description of Work: Sanded, sealed, patched , restored, painted, stained and all the other tedious things associated with being a really good painter that I absolutely abhor doing myself.
