I really enjoyed working with Mike, Chris and June. I had high hopes of getting into our remodeled home within the allotted time that was discussed in the contract but when Covid hit it made the process much longer. Our choices were out of stock or were coming in later than promised. But overall Mike and his team were so professional and so honest with me and my husband about what step they were on or any problems that came up. TRUSTWORTHY CONTRACTOR We had water damage in our kitchen in January of 2020. We called four contractors to provide us with quotes. Michael Baum was the only one who provided us with an itemized quote as requested and prepared it in a timely manner. He was not the cheapest quote, but stayed within the budget that was agreed upon. The price was fair for the scope of work that needed to be done. Our 1960's kitchen required a complete gut job which included taking down a wall. He earned our trust early in the project by providing a discount on a footing that was not going to be required. Together with his son, Chris, there was always someone available at the site. If we had any questions, they responded quickly. They arrived on time every day. This was huge because we had done two remodels in the past and the workers always showed up hours late. Once the pandemic hit, we didn’t know what would occur. With businesses closing and not knowing whether restaurants would remain open, this left us in unknown territory just like everyone else. Knowing we were without a kitchen and now living with yet another challenge, Michael pushed forward and helped us finish the job quickly. The subs wore masks and kept their distance as they worked hard to complete our kitchen. We couldn’t be happier with the results and experience. We highly recommend Baum Construction for your next project!

We've been so impressed by Mike Baum and his entire team ... he's been the key to the remodel of our 1947 historic home with all its quirks. Mike is straightforward, honest, action-oriented, even-keeled, flexible, responsive, patient and very pleasant to work with ... it feels like a true partnership. Meeting Mike completely changed my outlook. Before, I was overwhelmed by our huge project. Now, I'm encouraged by the progress we've made, in the right ways and on budget. Before, I was frustrated by how hard it was to get subs to call me back ... and (I found out later that) even those recommended by friends or neighbors did sub-par work. Now, no matter the issue, I just text Mike ... "I have a guy," he says lol. Over the three years we've worked together, every single person on his team has been amazing ... they call me back! they show up when they say they will! they do excellent work! they are pleasant human beings! They've also worked with Mike for years, and that says it all. One story sums up our experience: early on, when we'd just met Mike, we had an unrelated plumbing issue. Of course it happened before a busy weekend. So I texted Mike at 8AM Friday ... within seconds, he sent me his plumber's contact info. A few minutes later, I called the plumber, hoping to just leave a voicemail that would convince him to call me back. Based on my past experiences, I had zero hope that the issue would be fixed until the following week. Instead, Mike's plumber answered his own phone (!) and said, Oh Mike just called and said you needed help. The problem was solved that afternoon! If you're a value person like we are, you'll be so impressed with all that Mike and his team bring to the table. He won't be the cheapest bid but he is fair and realistic and will bend over backwards to make your project a success. I cannot imagine working with anyone else!

I enjoy working with Michael very much. He is responsive, reasonable, and extremely experienced/ knowledgeable. I would recommend him to anyone with full confidence.

I met with and received 5 bids from licensed general contractors to rebuild a garage with an attached laundry room due to a fire believed to have been caused by a dryer.  The bid was for approximately $46,000 and I decided to go with Michael Baum because of his thoroughness in his written contract, referral list and reviews.  He was not the cheapest but I have learned you get what you pay for and I can without reservation say that I was completely satisfied with his professionalism, on-going communication, his choice of subs and the finished product.  I do not hesitate to give Michael at Baum Construction, 5 stars for the terrific job completed on this project.

We purchased our 1950's home in Oct 2013 with the intent to remodel/renovate before we moved in.  We scourred the internet, read a lot of reviews and interviewed A LOT of contractors.  In the end, we felt the most comfortable with Michael Baum because of his experience, professionalism and the way he communicated with us.  
Mike listened and understood our vision for our house.  We had very specific design ideas and he provided his input without forcing his design ideas on us.  We were in touch almost on a daily basis and he was easy to get a hold of when something came up.  He explained every step of the process and answered most of our questions.  If he didn't know the answer, he found out and was in contact with us quickly.  He treated our project like it was his home and put in the effort and detail to make it run as smooth as he could.  Mike was running multiple projects at the same time and couldn't be at our home everyday but his Foreman, Garrett, was there everyday and he's just as easy to work with as Mike.   
Mike's quote was well organized and, though he wasn't the cheapest, he provided a breakdown of all his costs.  The price for every trade was listed along with his overhead.  He was the only guy that we interviewed that provided that level of detail and trasparency with his quote.  He tried to think about all the aspects of our project and didn't kill us with a ton of change orders.  Come to think of it, the only change orders that he issued were because we changed the design or something that the inspectors required.
Our project was scheduled to be completed in 4 months but it  actually took 6 months.  A month of that was wasted becasue we ordered the kitched cabinets ourselves and the manufacturer shipped us the wrong sizes and had some quality issues (Mike actually had his millwork guy fix the issues that we had with our kitchen cabinets).  There were a couple days where rain stopped work but, overall, the timeline was pretty good given the scope of our project. 
I hope we don't EVER have to go thru another home renovation again.  It was a lot of work and it's a scary thought to spend that much money in 6 months.  BUT, if we ever have to do it again, I would definitely call on Mike to help us out.

They got the work done but it took a long time. They started 02/2012 finished about 3 weeks ago. They didn't complete one section and go to the next. They started a project and wouldn't finish it right away. It seem liked it took longer than it was supposed to. They did concrete work and finishing work. They also did electrical and drywall in the house. The project manager was great; we did a lot of the communications through him.

Mr Baum was extremely responsive to all of my requests and questions.
We contracted for a very large job and he coordinated with all of the sub-contractors to work on the job in the most efficient manner possible.  we could not afford to be out of the house for more than 3 months.  Mr Baum worked hard to coordinate all of the services to get us back in the house as quickly as possible.    The communication and status update were excellent.  Whenever I needed to meet Mr Baum at the house, he was always on time.
We have small misc touch-up items after the contract was complete and Baum Construction sent people to complete the job to our satisfaction.  I recommend that you ask for Mr Baum to personally manage your project if you are entering into a large contract.

The best thing about working with him is he outlined the entire project and gives clear details on the step by step construction.  He took my suggestions on the things I wanted done.

Everything went well. This was the smoothest of three remodels that we have undertaken. Michael Baum met us with Scott 2-3 times to understand what we wanted. Once we committed to his company, he provided us with an interior decorator who helped with the final decisions. Scott was the Baum supervisor for the project and was here daily. He lives relatively close. But Mike was here frequently- at least once a week, more often at the start, again more often as the project neared completion, when he and Scott were doing much of the touch up work. They kept us constantly updated as the project progressed. They did everything to assure a successful remodel. And they completed it in the time that they said that it would take, within budget.
It was always clean. The kitchen was closed off with plastic and a zippered door. We came home after the demolition, which, remarkably, took only one day, to find everything cleaned up. Each day that they were here ended in a cleanup. At the end of the remodel, the kitchen and the rooms adjacent to it (which were not dirtied by them), were cleaned
There were little bonuses as well. The old baseboards were, well, pretty trashed, so Scott cut new ones to match the size of the old ones in this 1929 house.  Scott provided a new board under the window that was narrower and more consistent with those in the rest of the house. They replaced the electrical switches, which was a wonderful touch. We really appreciated their attention to detail.

Michael Baum is wonderful to work with. He answered the phone on my first call, and within a week he had visited the project and prepared a very detailed and professional estimate. He was able to schedule the work to begin at the date I requested. Before the project began we utilized the services of his designer, Julie Cunningham, who brought a great selection of tiles to help us complete the bathroom design. She also made several suggestions that improved the design immensely. Garret, who performed the daily supervision of the project, appeared every day at the appointed time. If he was going to be even 5 minutes late he gave us a call to let us know. All of the subcontractors were experienced and professional. The work was done in a very clean manner. Garret put tarps on the floor and stairs leading to the project every morning, and removed and cleaned them every evening. The bedroom outside the bath was cordoned off with heavy plastic. A zipper was added to the plastic barrier so we could still enter the bedroom if necessary. Michael himself came to the project once or twice a day to verify things were moving along and to address any issues that had come up. I could always reach Michael immediately by phone if I had a question or comment.

Michael Baum personally oversaw the project, keeping us posted every step of the way.  He gave us a comprehensive overview of what to expect., then met all expectations in terms of quality and time frames.  He was a pleasure to work with and we were more than pleased with the entire experience.

I can't compliment Baum construction enough.  I was newly pregnant with our first child and decided to completely remodel our home for the baby. I'm insane...
Deadline was my due date as I wanted everything ready for our new arrival :)
Deadline kept getting pushed back further and further as we needed extra time to gather the funds.  Baum was able to complete our entire project in A LOT less time than originally estimated AND under budget!!! 
His entire crew was sensitive to the fact I was under pressure to have the home complete on time. I really got attached to everyone through out the process.
Not only were they able to meet and exceed the deadline we had a lot of bumps in the road with our older home.  the original design of the house is rather creative back in 1952. 
I really loved how we were able to come up with alternate plans that didn't interfere with the asthetics of our home.  Baum construction stands by their work and continues to make sure we are happy with all the projects that were done.  I really appreciate that!
Our baby came home to more space and a safer environment for her to enjoy!  I really love our home and will continue to recommend Michael Baum and use him for future projects.

The project went smoothly. It started with the removal of all fixtures and drywall in the bathroom. Then a little framing for the new shower, followed by hot mopping the shower basin. Then the tile work started. We tiled the entire room (except for the ceiling, which got new drywall). The tile took two or three weeks, as it was a lot of work. They started with the shower, then moved to the floor tiles, and finally did the tiles on the walls. Then the cabinets and vanity were installed, and the plumber came back and did the final plumbing work. The shower enclosure is thick, clear glass and that was installed towards the end of the job. The ceiling was painted, as well as the walls in the sitting room. The whole thing took about five weeks, and every step went smoothly.

Responded and showed up promptly when contacted for an estimate.Contributed input and ideas to the design process.Communications were clear and prompt throughout the process.The work started on time.Work crews were always punctual and polite.The house was left as clean as possible at the end of each work day and either Mike or an assistant personally checked on progress and cleanup each afternoon.There were a few bumps along the way, but problems were always handled quickly and professionally.We're thrilled with the end product. A beautiful new kitchen exactly to our specifications.

Mike was in constant contact every day of the project, and stopped by the house almost every day to chat with me and make sure the work was progressing. He obtained the permits from city hall, and was here when each inspector came by. There was no downtime for inspections or permits. He listened to my input and the room is just how my wife and I wanted it. Every contractor he brought in to do each stage was professional and on-time. I would highly recomend Mike to anyone else needing similar services. In fact, a neighbor has hired him to do an add-on on her house, and I've given Mike's contact info to two other friends.

Our old patio cover was rotting, termite-ridden and ready to fall down.  We liked the way it looked and wanted to replace it.  We looked at various alternatives and decided to have it redone as it was (wood, rather than vinyl).  Mike's estimate was very much in line with the others, but much more detailed.  He always returned my e-mails promptly and was very professional.  Good reports here and elsewhere on the web made me decide to go with him.  Mike's crew began the work on time, worked steadily, neatly and politely, and finished on time.  They also cleaned up thoroughly when they were done.  The new cover is beautiful and looks like the old one as we wished.  It is also better built and will last longer since the problems that led to the rot and termites have been eliminated.  We are very satisfied with Mike's work.

Mike Baum met with us to discuss the project, and was very professional and straightforward. One week later he submitted a clear and detailed proposal. He used subcontractors solely. Once the project started he was present daily, at the beginning and end of the day, and he was accessible any other time we wished. Along the way there were work quality and professionalism issues with one of his subcontractors; in most cases Mike had them rectified. 

Mike's services included - helping design the project, procuring the appropriate subcontractors, supervising and coordinating subcontractors, being the point person for all communications, overall making sure the job was being done properly. His services aren't cheap, but with projects that are somewhat complex and require coordination, his services may be valuable to some clients. They were to us.

Our downgrades for punctuality and professionalism reflect our experience with the subcontractors. For Mike alone, grades for both of those categories would be "A".

It is going fine. He is moving a hot tub and building a slab.

We have hired him and he will be starting soon.  He came promptly; he was here the next day after our call.  

Great.  Easy to work with and love the final product.  High quality workmanship, done on time and on budget.  Very pleased.
