Insurance Agencies
A claims adjuster contacted me. I felt like I was applying for county welfare or that I was ruining her day. This is about her, but the company. I thought they would take an incident report in order for them to pay the claim. She started dragging her feet. I think she was overloaded with claims. After she got her information, (after faxing twice); I lost my mattress. My son & daughter removed the mattress which was brand new. I paid alot of money for it. Allstate said they would reimburse for all bedding, mattress, etc. It took this woman awhile to actually do anything even though we were sending information as soon as she asked. I was sleeping on my couch for a month! They finally decided, after I called her supervisor to complain; that they were going to pay out close to $2000 to replace the mattress. I agreed. They said they were going to send the check. Originally, they said they would write the check on the spot for the total amount of the claim. That didn't happen. They said they would pay as I purchased replacement items! I told them I plan to check other insurance companies to see if that's their policy. I bought the replacement mattress and gave them the receipt. A couple days later, I was reimbursed. Then, I bought sheets and they reimbursed me for that. I can't help it if they overestimated the claim. When I got the 2nd check for the sheets, I sent them the receipt. They called today, a week after I submitted the receipt saying they would be sending a check. I thought I had another $1000 remaining on the claim. I asked how I was suppose to replace my comforter. They were nickle and diming me like a kid! She offered her supervisor's email to me to get in touch with to complain to. I am not complaining about the staff, but the company policy. The supervisor said, 'you have already taken enough of our staff's time.' I apologized, which I didn't think I needed to - but I wanted her to know I didn't agree with their policy. She said they would issue the remainder of the claim and the case would be closed. If damage happens to my home, do you pay as things are replaced? Or, do you pay the claim outright? They said, the policy states that they pay as you go. It was a very bad experience with the claims department and their renter's insurance. I am very disheartened with their process. You can make a claim, but don't complain to them. It's like they punish you. I'm through with Allstate and will be changing to another agency!
