Paul came right out to look at the patio. He put me in touch with a roofer, who unethically tried to cut Paul out of the picture, and was also not available right away. Paul quickly found me a new roofer that came out promptly and removed the old roof. Paul then replaced all of the damaged wood and painted it to match the existing roof bays. The roofer returned to re-roof the patio. They did a good job and finished in a timely manner. Paul was very pleasant and easy to work with. He followed through on what he said he would do. My only suggestion for improvement would be to provide a more official receipt. Because it was part of a real estate transaction, by law I needed to provide the buyer with a receipt for the work that was done. I did get a receipt, but it was an email stating what work had been done, instead of a normal receipt. The realtors accepted it, but both said a real receipt would have been better.

We are really happy with what Paul and his crew did for us. We started with a plan and began searching for contractors. We were almost settled on a contractor who was going to do most of what we wanted, but insisted that raising our kitchen ceiling would be cost prohibitive. We then decided to get more opinions. I found Paul here on Angieslist and he came out. He was up in the attic for about 10 minutes and then reported that there is no reason why the ceiling couldn't be raised for a reasonable cost. After discussing this for quite some time, I hired an engineer to validate what Paul proposed and draw up the engineering plans for the project. Once that cleared we hired Paul and began the project. Paul totally worked with us. We wanted a hybrid approach where we had tons of involvement but he managed the project. I still can't believe how smooth it all went. There really weren't any big surprises and Paul was not only a great contractor but he also became a good advisor and in couple cases advised against some of the ideas we had and provided good reasons why which we never would have thought of until it was too late. Overall, the project consisted of a complete tear down and remodel of the kitchen, including the ceiling lift. He also helped with our fireplace, HVAC and a few other things throughout the house. We now feel like we have a very custom model home. I hope we don't have to run another project like this, but if we do, we'll be calling Paul to run it. Thanks Paul.

When I contacted Paul he guided us through the process for our house which included multiple meetings with his architect and with the design of the house and in keeping our budget in mind. We ended up demoing 80 percent of the house to bare studs and tearing down the existing garage. After everything was done he basically built us a brand new house with a 5 car garage. He had contacts for all the sub-contractors whom were top notch (concrete, cabinets, sheet rockers, stucco, roofers, granite counter tops, painters etc.) My husband and I are extremely happy with the work he and his crew had done for us. I absolutely love my kitchen and master bath! His crew were knowledgeable and respectful of us and our property. Paul was professional and he always kept in touch with us and let us know what he was going on and what he was doing next. I would not hesitate to hire him again.

Paul and his crew made me feel very comfortable with the job they did for me.  Very professional, friendly and even went beyond by doing other little work on my house (fixed a few dents in my hallway, hauled some junk in my backyard without my even having to ask.)   I would rehire him in a heartbeat and will actually be asking some of his crew to repaint the interior of my house.

Paul showed up when promised and finished the job on time. Everything was cleaned up and all construction residue removed upon completion. He made certain the cabinet doors matched the existing cabinets. They were very careful not to let my three dogs get out, which was a lot of extra effort on the part of Paul and Michael. Beautiful job , very well done. Would definitely recommend Mikita Construction to family and friends. Charged exactly what he quoted other than for light bulbs that were missing from the range hood, he picked them up for me.

Paul (owner of Mikita Construction) is everything you want in a contractor.  I hired him to build a 640 sq Ft addition/attached -in-law quarters that will include a fairly large kitchen expansion and remodel.

After our initial consultation with Paul, we received a quote that was rather high.  After some clarification, Paul gave us a high quote based on a lot of 'unknowns'.  We didn't have any specifics selected prior to his consultation: appliances, electrical fixtures, paint, flooring etc etc... so Paul gave us a high quote that would naturally be adjusted lower as the project developed and evolved depending on material that we selected.

It should be noted that Paul was up front that his specialty is "framing" and that we hired him to be the project manager for the project - which means that he was/is in charge of hiring sub contractors that will work under his supervision for what he hires them for.

Paul is honest and forthright in his approach and takes accountability if there are incident(s) that go wrong.  We only had one incident involving bad weather which resulted in some unfortunate and unexpected material damage - without issue Paul stepped up and addressed the issue to our complete satisfaction.  Additionally, my project required City inspections and, to my knowledge, he passed every inspection 1st time around.

Our project is finally completed, my families' only frustration was the natural lengthy time period it took for project completion - 3-4 months.  Paul was completely aware of the frustration and did his absolute best to move things along.  Mikita Construction has a Facebook page that you can view his work from and he also comes ready and prepared with references.

Throughout the project we added on many 'odds and ends' - extra lighting, concrete walk-ways as well as fixing some dry-wrought issues that were pre-existing.  All of those things had me concerned about our over all budget.  Paul was aware of my concerns and ensured me we would be on budget - which he met.  My wife and I have already made plans for additional renovation in the future and FULLY intend to hire Paul to do the work.

One of my biggest concerns before starting this project was hiring a bad contractor.  I am so happy to be able to refer Paul as an AWESOME contractor.  If I had questions, issues, concerns... Paul was always willing to listen, educate, help, come up with solutions and put the customer at ease.  Lastly, there were a number of different sub contractors that were involved on my project.  I'm incredibly happy that I hired Paul to hire and manage the sub contractors, I simply wouldnt have been able to do it.

This is one happy and completely satisfied customer.

Response from Mikita Construction
"A "B" for price?? I charged you $45.00/ hour plus materials which were $147.00. Not to mention I went and got materials twice! The first time I came by on our original start day/time .Nobody answered the door or the phone! You were charged a more than fair price for the work. Before I left I asked you like I always do with my customers If they liked the job and were satisfied. You had an issue with 2 boards that were 1/8 " to long and I cut them before I finished! Not to mention the caulking I did which was not in our original scope of work. I always try my hardest to have satisfied customers and if you had a problem with the quality or price just ask me . I will gladly explain it to you."

Mikita general contractor is Paul. He was exceptional in all phases of the job. Prior to final decisions he gave valuable insight to the jobs at hand. He worked sun up to sun down and never missed a day on the job. He was in constant communication with all decision makers and complied without issue to any changes.

I would hire Mikita Construction in a heart beat for our next project. Very conscientious!

Paul Makita was very friendly, courteous and informative. He had many useful suggestions and tried very hard to make necessary concessions for my handicaps. He may have underestimated the time necessary to complete all the work but held to his estimated price. I'm very satisfied with the quality and looks of the work . After the job was complete he did a good cleanup and disposal of old and torn out material. I would not hesitate to use  him again for  any remodeling or construction project.

Paul was very good natured and professional throughout the process of getting the estimate to the completion of the job. The work that he did on our rental unit was better than average, and I plan on having more work done from him in the future.

I am a single mother who just purchased a new home.  After the home inspection, I was feeling a bit overwhelmed with the items needing repair.  I wasn't knowledgeable about how to complete the repairs myself and I was purchasing the home as is.  I have heard so many stories of bad contractor experiences and people being taken advantage of, that I was nervous about who to choose.

I called Mikita Construction and spoke to Paul, the owner.  Paul assured me he would take care of the project from beginning to end.  I was so relieved!  He came out and walked through the project with me, gave me ideas on how we could fix the items in need of repair, and gave me a written estimate.  He gave me a competitive price and he explained how long it would take.

We started the project in January and finished Februrary 3rd.  Paul stayed in contact with me throughout the project and was always available for questions.  The project came in at the price he quoted.  There wasn't any surprises!!

I can't say enough good things about the experience I have had with Mikita Construction.  I would recommend them to anyone.  In fact, I did!  My mom is currently using Paul for a bathroom remodel and it looks great!  I know its hard to find good, reliable contractors out there. Give Paul a call, you won't regret it!

Signed,

A very happy homeowner
