When he arrived he looked at the fan and within 10 minutes told me that I needed to get a new remote for it from Home Depot and to call him back if I had any problems. I was told that all I had to do was match the pin setting inside the new remote to that of the old and it should all work. I paid him the $60 for the visit and went straight to Home Depot. I then paid $30 for a replacement remote and went home to fix my fan. It was then that I discovered that the remotes used today are different than the remotes from 12 years ago (the age of the fan) and there are no pins to set inside the remote. So the next step was to install the sensor that came with the new remote in the fan. Since I was told to call them if there were problems, I called them to get the electrician to come back out. He came out a few days later and within 5 mins told me that my fan motor was dead and that I needed a new one. I was then charged $90 for the visit. I wasn't going to argue with the electrician. I was so mad I just wanted him to leave.
I ended up going and buying a new fan for $250 and installing it myself.
The electrician was nice and prompt but I question his skills. If the motor was dead he should have been able to detect that in the first visit and spared me the extra $120 so be careful when using Tri-Valley.
