Katherine T.
Feb 2012
Ken was recommended by a friend. He comes off very nice and cordial until you go into contract. Our concern with Ken is that after we where in contract ready to start, he called me and advised he didn't charge enough money so he requested $1500.00 more. We paid him the money but NEVER received an amended work order to this affect. KEN assured us he would come to the job site every day and advised if their were any questons, comments. concerns to call him directly; after the 1st day of work he asked me to deal directly with the installed instead of him. Ken DID NOT do the installation of work but had someone else do the installation. In all fairness these men came and did their work.
We agreed he was to remove all debris from the front courtyard & drive way of our home every day without any covering and he DID not do so; he did it every 3-4 days. Our HOA does not allow trash/debris to lay in public display When we would ask him to remove it he said he didn't have to and he would contact our HOA to take care of it which he DID NOT.
He also came back and told us the downstairs sink/vanity had to be removed so flooring could be installed beneath it and he was going to assess another $150.00; to put it back in. This amount also was to include the removal and installation of a new medicine cabinet. Upon removing the sink/vanity he broke it so we had no choice but to purchase a new one. This cost us another $500. Although Ken installed the new sink/vanity he did not remove the old medicine cabinet or install the new one. The day after he installed the new sink/vanity he came to pick up a check for $150.00; at this time I advised him I would give him his $150.00 when he completed removal/installation of the medicine cabinet. I then asked him when he was going to remove the old medicine cabinet and install the new one; at this time he said began to YELL at me in front of my 3 year old son stating "this was not part of the job and I was trying to get something out of nothing", he then threatened me saying "he will have the men work off the job if I do not give him the $150.00". At this point I was in tears and asked him how he could do that considering we have made all the progressions payments as scheduled and we even gave him more money for the job? I was in such shock and disbelief in his demeanor and behavior. It was completely unwarranted and uncalled for!!!!! If your wondering it took him 2 days to apologize and he did not have the courtesy to do it in person but over the phone and as insincere as you can sound!
As the project continued Ken's behavior and interactions with us became worse. It even escalated at the completion of the project. He made rude and inappropriate comments to my husband after receiving his final payment.
He is the list of items in our complaint:

He is the list of items in our complaint:
- Ken changed the price of the project by adding $1100.00 to the original cost of the project after contract was signed. He stated the change in contract price was due to he previously ordered his supplies from the internet and he did not previously pay tak on the items, but since he was caught this year when filing his income tax so he had to change the price. He NEVER provided a change order for the project.
- Contract he provided was generic, not detailed. IT does not specifically decribe each phase of work to be completed.
- the project was to take 10 days, it took 17 days to complete.
- we requested a copy of the invoice for materials and supplies and he refused to furnish it.
- we agreed Ken would remove debris everyday related to the project. He did not he did it every 4-5 days.
- walls and furniture received some physical damage that was NOT there until the commencement of the project.
- A couple of doors need to be adjusted due to new height of floor.
- Based boards installed where done not up to par. He even installed broken/cracked based boards.
- rubber moulding at base of all 3 shower/baths should have been installed but were not.
- complete tear out & install of downstairs before providing a change in the work order. he did not complete all the work promised & agreed upon.
- Contractor is unprofessional and rude.
- Product installed already chipping and scratching.
- Clean Up of all debris was done poorly.

Ken was there everyday on time and finished the job on time and in budget. The cabinets and granite look terrific. We would definitely recommend this company.
