This company was excellent. We had 4 closets in need of a plan to maximize usage. The "Doctor" put together a perfect blueprint at a great price and installed to perfection. The work was done quickly and the rooms were left as clean as when they arrived. Highest praise for this company. Would definitely use them again!!!

install was done quick and easy. Price seemed a little high compared to what out 2 large walk in closets cost.

I thought the price was pretty reasonable. They were responsive, they told us what they were going to build, how long it would take and how fast the parts would be here. They cleaned up after they finished and they even helped us paint a discolored wall after they removed the old railings.

Christine measured and provided a computer print out of her recommended closet layout on that day. She was knowledgeable and easy to work with. The day of installation-Kevin came in and tore out all old shelves and hanging rods. Six hours later a whole new instillation was finished. We are so pleased with the result. This company is very professional and easy to work with!

Appointment got cancelled few hours prior to meeting time. The cancellation excuse was " designer have a prior engagement with daughter". I thought a business appointment is a "prior engagement". Not worth my money to deal with vendor that do not keep appointments and wasted my time. Will use someone else.
Response from THE CLOSET DOCTOR

"I'm sorry that we inconvenienced you. It was my fault that I didn't put my daughter's Christmas choir presentation on my calendar and you were inadvertently booked at that time."

They came out, measured, and drew up the plans right there for us, gave us a great quote. We hired them right away. I did the tear out of the old shelving, and painted, and they came in and installed the new cabinetry. We couldn't be happier with the results. Thanks guys!!

The installers came within the one hour window scheduled and got right to work.  The two installers completed the job in about two hours, and left the area clean.  I was very pleased!
The cabinets turned out to be more spacious than I had imagined!  The only flaw I found was on the top of a metal strip on the door, the metal was rough, like it was a new cut and had not been sanded smooth.  However, this was any issue only on one door and I found it an easy fix and not worth calling them back.

The rep took measurements and prepared a design soon after her visit; she sent me the design and information on what selections/options for the design. I made a trip to the showroom, selected the options, and after a couple of emails and the assistance of the person at the showroom who had written down my choices, the order was placed. The timing worked out fine, although at first I would ahve liked the closet installed before I moved back to the house. In the end I was glad it was a few days later.
The installers came within the time frame they had given, efficiently and neatly installed all the pieces, did a "walk through" to be sure I was satisfied,
I may need to rearrange some of the pieces, but so far the new closet looks promising in terms of reducing the numbers of containers needed to accommodate my clothes.
I would recommend The Closet Doctor to anyone looking for an improved situation. I did have an additional expense, beyond what the Closet Doctor charged, to prepare the space--old shelves and cabinets removed, floor patched, walls patched and painted. A good idea to keep in mind that the space does have to be prepared in order for a closet system to be installed.

  • Derrek was efficient in his measurements and discussion of our requests. He worked with us to revise his design based on our feedback including minute details around accessibility of an access panel restrictions based on our requested changes for that wall. We were very pleased with being presented with both closet system options (wall hung and floor standing) that allowed us to choose the wall hung design that aligned to our vision.
  • It was great that Derrek had an option to leverage another contractor to handle the tear out and refinishing with painting of the walls. This was a key requirement for our selection process. The Closet Doctor coordinated many aspects of this arrangement to make the process effortless for us.
  • The installation day was well executed with two installers starting out in separate rooms until the smaller 2nd bedroom closet was done, then worked together to complete the master. They worked efficiently and with a focus on quality.
  • The finished product looks great and we are very pleased.

Had my kitchen pantry redone .  Got several quotes  Closet Doctors were much cheaper than the closest.  Derreck came to my home and between him and my wife came up with a great design that satisfied my wife. signed a contract and  about a week later Michael the installer came  and did the job. From start to finish a professional operation.   We are pleased with the quality  of the product and installation and professionalism of these people . I would recommend them highly.

The whole job went perfectly from beginning to end.  What else can I say?  The estimator, the installers did their jobs fast and with great skill.  The cabinets were installed where they were supposed to, and nothing had to be jimmied or bent to accommodate a mistake in measuring the cabinets or the room where it was going.
The installers were in and out in a couple of hours, and didn't leave a mess behind.  We've been using the cabinets for nearly a month now, and I don't know how we ever got a long without them.
For my wife and me, the main point is that one doesn't have to spend a bloody fortune on on finished furniture designed for a fancy living room.  The cabinets were well-built with quality components.  They were not over-built with parts or gizmos we didn't need.
Perfect job, I'd say.  I can't wait to use these guys on some other projects around the house.

I first got my master closet designed by Katherine.  She did an excellent job and was so nice with which to work.  They took out the old shelving and painted my closet.  Excellent job.  Then, they installed new shelving and drawers.  I absolutely love it!
I then decided to have them redo the shelving in my pantry which was not very usable.  Now, it is so much more efficient!  I never thought I would get excited by a pantry, but I love it!
I highly recommend this company!

Derek the owner and designer came out one evening, talked to us about what we needed and designed our closet system and entertainment/storage systems right in front of us. Three weeks later we had our closet system installed. A little over a month later we had our study entertainment/storage system installed. They both satisfied the exact need that we had and are very happy with both.

When you use your closet everyday you want it to work for you, not against you. With The Closet Doctor I feel like we got two closets in the place of one. They delivered on their design with excellent craftsmanship and on time. I would highly recommend them. They created multiple shelving units and a built in dresser with a granite counter-top. The drawers work perfectly after two years and the space is fully utilized. The instillation went on time and without a hitch. The left the area clean and orderly. Our closet no longer seem cluttered.

The initial contact with Closet Doctor went fine, we told them what we wanted, had plans drawn up and paid our deposit. Our neighbors had used them and we liked the look of the finished product.  The install was scheduled for July 15, 2013.  When the installers arrived we were told they could not complete the job that day as the counter top was on back order and they did not have the door for the ironing board cabinet. They had no idea when the counter tops would be ready.   I called the office to find out about the back order on the counter top since we had put in our order in April.  We found out later that week they were not on back order they had just never been ordered. They did do a rush request on the countertop and door and  the install was completed on Friday July 19th.  The installers did a good job on everything but the ironing board install.  The cabinet door did not fit correctly nor did it close all the way. We called three times requesting someone to come out and see what could be done to correct this.  My husband was given some suggestions, but no one ever bothered to come out.  All we got were reasons they could not come out. Thankfully my husband is a good handy man and was able to fix the cabinet himself.  However we feel for the price we paid we should not have had to put extra money into fixing something that was not installed properly.  Their customer service is very disappointing and once you pay, they do not want to address any problems.

UPDATE:
This is an update to my August 14, 2013 review.  Today Derrick the owner called us regarding the install of the ironing board. He apologized for the delay in answering our concerns. He offered to compensate us for the ironing board and the door.  We told him we did not want compensation.  At the end of the call Derrick seemed very sincere and explained measures had been put in place to address any future concerns like the ones we had expressed.  We love the bed, the craft workspace and even the ironing board. We feel that we could now refer this company.

I gave The Closet Doctor rather mixed reviews...bottom line up front? They do good work on the installation side...on communication with the client...well...let's just say that a "D" was generous. First off...the owner cancelled an appointment to come out and measure my (admittedly small) closets sort of at the last minute...he wanted me to measure them. Um...isn't that supposed to be part of the service? I'm sorry that I live in Sacramento and The Closet Doctor is in Lincoln.
So I took time off work, came home, measured all 4 closets and draw everything up...closet organizers are not my field of expertise...but did email them to the owner. The design meeting in The Closet Doctor's factory went just okay although I'd have to say that the owner was not overly outgoing or friendly. He did mention he likes my sort of job...small closets & high profit...those were his words. That's fine I guess.
The silliness about all of this? The owner still sent out one of his employees to completely re-measure my closets...so why was I asked to measure my own closets and send them to the owner? That still puzzles me.
Scheduling a time to install was another issue...and why I gave them a rather poor grade in communication. At the time of the design consultation in Lincoln, the owner mentioned he'd try for 22 July. Unfortunately I never heard another word from them  after that until I called a few days before (17 July) and was told by another co-worker (owner had gone on vacation) that my install had tentatively been scheduled for 31 July. A day before the install, I had not heard anything about whether the installation was still on and at what time the installers would arrive. I had to contact them via email (phone calls are rarely answered) and request a confirmation on the date and time. Before that, there were also many emails that were not answered in a timely manner...same with phone calls. I understand they are a small business but if you ignore prompt and timely responses to clients' questions or calls...well...that sends a message to the client.
I give an "A" for the installation...Kevin (the installer) arrived on time and did his work well...friendly too. There were a couple of rods that needed to be recut and brought out...those were done the same day by another co-worker (Hugo). Also very friendly.
To conclude...the product is good. The installation was good. The price a bit less than some other local/national closet organizer firms (but they all are expensive)...communication and letting your client know what is going on...well, I'll let you decide.

Product delivered on time. Installers were prompt and efficient and did not leave a mess. I installed organizers in the master bedroom, garage, coat closet, pantry and the Star Wars room. This allowed me to reduce the size of my home while keeping those things that mean so much to me. The crew was friendly.

The salesperson came promptly to give an estimate and thoroughly explained the differences between their product and others available. Some of the differences were trivial, but I appreciated that they have a long-term crew and don't use pick-up or temporary labor for installations. I believe this makes for more careful and responsible work. These cabinets are entirely wall installed, so there are no support feet beneath which facilitates cleaning. They sub-contract the epoxy floor that that went well and on time. The cabinets are attractive and sturdy and coincidentally match the color of the garage perfectly. This is a high-end product, so be prepared for the price. I'm perfectly satisfied with the cabinets. The jury is still out on the small section of HandiWall. I like the look, but the hanging hardware is not widely available. I'll have to order through the dealer and since my garage equipment is still in transit from another state, I don't know how much I'll need and what the cost might be. I would recommend working with this vendor. They are professional and responsive.

"(deleted member name), I am glad you are happy with everything on your install. The slatwall we put in is the same pattern that is used in commercial applications but is different from what is offered at most big box stores. In the next few weeks we will be launching a new website and you will be able to order all of the accesroies fro the slatwall directly from us if you like."
