Ben is a great guy, honest and responsive. Ben is old school and does business with a shake of a hand. He quoted the work and noted things that could increase or decrease the price then he communicated often providing me with options. The job came within budget and the work was high quality.

Ben is a great guy, honest, showed up when he said and does business old school with a handshake you can trust. He gave me a verbal quote and provided me with information that could increase or decrease the price. Then he provided updates and options throughout the process. It all came together within budget.

Ben was a joy to have working in my home.   He went  above and beyond to make sure I was happy with everything.  He fixed things that weren't even part of the deal.  His customer service is exceptional.   Everything he did he wanted to make sure I was happy with it.  I highly recommend him for any project!

It was fair.  I like that they came on a rainy day.  But they did not have proper equipment.  They wanted me to supply them the screws.  They worked real quick.  They came from a long distance.  I had to finish the job myself.  So the work was fixed temporarily and their work was okay.  There was a communication language barrier because they were foreigners.  I had to spend more that the big deal which was $299.  I had to spend a hundred dollars on supplies.  They came a week after I purchased the big deal.
Response from South Canyon Construction
"yes we came in the week, but set appointment list in two days, yes we came without screws but customer purchased, labor only and particular amount of time, if job was bigger then the customer estimate it is not my fall we working hard from first to last minute of contract, yes like contractor I cant live dry rot even if customer agree to live , that why he spend more money for repair his patio, not for pay any additional money for us, we must give a quality job according California building cods, customer told we working quick, and don't have proper equipment, this two thinks is opposite, impossible working quick in rainy days and finish job and didn't have proper tools, yes my language isn't perfect but I came working not for talking. Thank you"

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service and it was fine, although they took a little longer than I wanted. They found some other things that needed to be done, but all in all I was pleased. They were alright and I don't think they could have done it any faster. If I had it to do over again I would change the color of the cupboards to white instead of the maple color they suggested.

They were great. They took care of everything and cleaned everything up. They moved their schedule around to get me fitted in because we just had the door propped up in the doorway. They were great about fitting me in their schedule.

The contractor started the job a day or two early which is what I wanted since this was a vacant rental. As a result he completed the job ahead of the completion date that I gave him. Ben (contractor) was on the job every day both working and coordinating his subs. All work was done to my satisfaction. A few unplanned events turned up during the remodel that Ben took care of with very little impact to the final price.

"yes, company rate is $50 per hour., yes back yard is a small, but in 14 hours I install two new sprinkles line with 16 sprinkles ,instead one with 3, and I worked 1 1/2 hour extra no charge, and I need to makeaditional trench for 45-50 ft, and install new lock valve for second line which I estimated in 4 hours and customer finaly dint want , if customer want to pay other contractor $1000 instead $200 of my bid that is customer choice"

After a little confusion on dates where hammer out the guys showed up and started working, almost immediately. They worked until lunch and came back to finish the day, the work that they did I'm satisfied with their work and if need will use them again.

We were doing some fix up on a unit that was in between renters. Our biggest project was to lay groutable vinyl tile in the master bath. The worker had never done this and seemed really dubious about the entire process. No worries we had a shower door that needed to be replaced and he did a great job at that as well as replacing a number of faucets. I could've done it myself but it wouldn't have been done as well or as quickly so the services were appreciated.

Overall the work went well. I might hire them again for specific jobs. I will not use an Angies list deal for a set amount of contractors hours though. This deal did not work well with a contractor because there was not the typical opportunity to agree on the work ahead of time. I had waste time going to the hardware store with the contractor to buy supplies, and he was not prepared to do some of the work I would have liked to get done.

I contacted Ben prior to purchasing the 'handyman for a day' deal for $299 off Angie's list to see what his availability was like. He told me he was booking within a couple weeks so I went ahead and purchased the deal. I contacted Ben shortly after to set up an appointment. Ben was quick to respond, polite and easy to deal. We agreed on a time within a couple of weeks.
He arrived on time on the day scheduled and listened to my requests. I asked him to make a replacement solid wooden insert for a hole in our flooring that was previously a vent to the crawlspace. I also wanted him to install 3 curtain rods, lay a metal trim between our carpet and tiled area, install 3 carbon monoxide detectors, and hang a large, heavy mirror. He understood exactly what I wanted and set to work immediately.
He hung the mirror first using his own materials and then made a trip to Home Depot for the other materials needed. He purchased the wood for the insert and the metal trim making a great choice in color for both. As he was fashioning the floor insert he asked a few questions about how I wanted it to work. The end result was perfect and exactly what I was hoping for. He laid the metal trim in the space between the carpet and tiled area in our living room covering the metal tacks that were previously exposed. He also hung some curtain rods in my daughter's room and did a neat job making them fit the space. Lastly he installed 3 carbon monoxide detectors, one on each floor. Each task was finished thoroughly and with care before starting the next. These several jobs filled the six hour time slot I had purchased.
I believe he worked efficiently for the time he was here and did a lovely job in each of the tasks I gave him. He was a very pleasant man and chatted a little while he worked but never stopped working while he did so. I would definitely have him back again to do more work in future. I was very happy with the end result and would recommend him to anyone looking for a handyman.

I am thankful we did not attempt this portion of the remodel to do ourselves as our house was built in the 1930's and had some kind of indestructible, chicken-wire enforced, stucco/plaster walls. Instead of the 8 hours of contractor labor we purchased, we agreed it would be better if one of his workers helped and so it took 4 hours by two guys. They worked really hard and steady for the full 4 hours and I am sure they both had a backache to show for it! Since it took the full time just to get the wall down, there wasn't time left for them to do much finish work but we said we could do that part ourselves. I would have preferred for them to haul away the debris but it wasn't in the deal so I am OK with it. The only negative thing that happened is we went out and bought $10 worth of 3and quot; deck screws that they ended up not needing but seemed to disappear after they packed it up and left. I am sure that was simply a mistake and not intentional. The only reason I probably won't call them again is that although we seemed to have a lot of projects that could have become future work, they did not seem that enthusiastic about bidding it nor encouraged us to call them.

We purchased an older home and knew the one thing we wanted upgraded right away was the kitchen. Signed up for Angies's List to find reputable contractors and one of the first emails I got from Angie's was a Big Deal for a complete kitchen remodel. Perfect timing! Ben with South Canyon Construction came out before we even purchased the deal and reviewed our kitchen and found out exactly what we wanted. He was very professional. He was able to fit us in his schedule and worked long hours to complete the project in the short time we had without sacrificing quality. We absolutely love our new kitchen and feel like it has increased the value of our home by much more than our investment in the kitchen cost. We couldn't be happier with the service we received from Ben and would definitely recommend him and use his services in the future. It is very important to Ben that his customers receive the best service and are happy with the outcome. He also has multiple contacts in the industry that came out to give us excellent quotes on other fix-ups we want to do.

I had a bathroom remodeled by South Canyon Construction. I got bids from 3 contractors and choose South Canyon because of price and a reference from our decorator. The job involved a complete tear out, reconstruction and some unknown amounts of dry rot. The dry rot did turn out to be more extensive than what could be estimated before the tear out, which we agreed before starting would require an adjustment to the quote. It's always difficult to have an opening for a proposal adjustment once the job starts since your negotiating position is diminished, but we came to an agreement with little difficulty. The job was done on schedule and with a high degree of craftsmanship. They were very conscious of keeping dust and debris to a minimum which we appreciated. As always, I had a few extras as the job progressed which they did without question.

I have since had them out for a few odd handyman type jobs and continue to be very satisfied with cost, quality and responsiveness.

Ben is a truly exemplary contractor. His years of experience coupled with his natural talent for contracting work were evident in the superb final products. He works rapidly and with real skill. He is organized and methodical in his approach to the varied jobs involved in large remodels.

His pricing was very competitive and his work ethic was admirable.

Having the main part of ones home in stages of remodeling puts stress on homeowners, yet Ben's affable nature and competent, quick work made it as painless as possible. He was always at our home very early and worked quite late many evenings without pause or distraction, thus reducing the number of days of our remodel.

His knowledge of materials, tools, design and more were fully appreciated. He knew all the regulations and codes, making sure his work would pass any inspection.

We intend on contacting him for all future contractor work we may have. Without hesitation we highly recommend him to future clients.
