STEVE FOX PLUMBING INC

I have been a regular client of Steve Fox Plumbing for about 15 years, but I felt compelled to write this review for the benefit of other Angie's List users. Previously, the jobs were separated by several years, relatively minor, and I had no basis for comparison of cost. However, this time I needed the entire flushing mechanism of another toilet replaced (I have pressure assisted toilets—Flushmate). This time the bill would have been almost $300.00 more than I paid for the exact same job [replacing the Flushmate unit in another toilet] from the exact same company [Steve Fox Plumbing] just nine months ago. This was inclusive of the $100+ charge for the service call (I've had other companies levy a service call charge, but this was waived—in whole or in part—or a credit given if they were chosen to do the work). The technician phoned "Steve" to discuss this discrepancy (I also showed him the invoice from the previous job) but the price remained the same. Even when I provided my own Flushmate device (I had a spare one sent out by the Flushmate company as there had been complaints of squealing during the flush cycle—which I never had), it still cost me almost $400.00. The work specified on the invoice of the past job [November 2016] was described as a "major tank rebuild," but I showed the technician the previous work (however, elsewhere, the other technician explicitly states that a new unit was installed). The Flushmate device looked completely new (including the tank, pressure valve, flushing mechanism, and hoses). I also told him that the previous technician worked with the old mechanism, left for a while and returned/installed the replacement. I have other jobs to be done, but I will try another company that I'm hoping will provide better service. Fox Plumbing's practices make me distrustful of their pricing and raises other ethical concerns for me.

The plumbing in our small craftsman built in the 1920's was old and in need of repairs - the main where the water came into the house from the ground was leaking in the home's crawlspace under the house, and the plumbing through out the home was corroded to the point that the water pressure was very low.
Steve Fox Plumbing rerouted the water main into the home and installed all new flexible (plastic) piping throughout the home.  Quite professional and very thorough in their work - and their bid for the work was considerably less than the other estimates I received.

They are the only ones that ever call me back. They do what they say they will do. They don't try to hide stuff and they don't leave a mess.
