After contacting a number of contractors we decided on San Diego Paverscape to do the work. Luis Vindel is the owner of San Diego Paverscape and met with us four times to answer all of our questions and make several suggestions on materials to be used. Luis also works with Angel Carrasco of another company "Promised Path". Luis' expertise is pavers, patios, driveways and retaining walls. Luis brings in Angel and his crew to assist with the landscape (plants, trees, etc) on large projects that include hardscape and general landscaping.
Luis, Angel and their crew were very professional and completed the job in three weeks. Other contractors told me the job would take five weeks. The crew showed up every morning at 7:00 am and worked until 3:30 pm. (Including working on two Saturdays) Luis and/or Angel were onsite several times every day to supervise the crew and answer multiple questions we had as the work progressed. The following is what was done:
Back yard; Old patio slab concrete removed, old sidewalk removed, all plants removed, dead grass removed, old sprinkler system removed, old drainage system removed, old back yard fencing removed, old wiring for a hot tub was moved.
Front yard: Old driveway removed, all old plants removed, old sprinkler system removed, dead grass removed
After the demo was completed the work of putting the landscape plan started. Luis and Angel had several excellent recommendations regarding replacing another part of the backyard concrete to help us with a problem we have had with drainage when the rains come. Luis had several enhancements that really looked professional. He framed our concrete from patio and new driveway with the same pavers that he installed in the back yard. He also recommended a small change to our plan to add a small retaining wall in the front yard that was needed. We also have a huge pocket gopher problem so they put gopher wire in the yard before planting new plants, trees and buffalo grass. The following is a list of work completed:
* Installed new driveway including rebar* Installed dark brown mulch around all plantings in front and back yard* Installed new concrete and pavers in the back yard* Installed new sidewalk on the side of house* Installed new sprinkler system - front and back yard - Included taking out old timers and replacing with a new timer* Installed bubblers to patio and drip lines to potted plants* Installed Cobble in two front yard areas with weed barrier* Installed new ground cover on side of yard * Installed bender board as edging for lawn and pea gravel areas* Created a dry creek bed - including weed barrier* Installed pea gravel dog runs on both sides of the back yard - including weed barrier* Build a redwood raised planter with gopher wire* Added a new drainage system (front and back yards and tied all of my existing rain gutters into the system)* Build a retaining wall in the front yard* Installed black chainlink fence with gate* Installed electrical outlets on the patio and electrical outlet for outdoor lighting * Planted over 100 plants, trees - including new topsoil* Planted a section of the front yard with UC Verde Buffalo Grass - Luis ordered the grass from the manufacturer and had it shipped direct to our house. When the grass arrived one of the crew had it planted with an hour.* Installed wiring for lighting system and installed 15 lights in the front and back yards.
I would recommend Luis and Angel if you want a professional job completed on time and on budget and with professional, honest contractors.

Called for a quote, Luis came out and measured and provided a verbal quote. He emailed a written quote the next day. No extra charge for special layouts. Luis used RCP Block and Brick for the paver. Luis and the softscape company coordinated install dates so that they would not conflict and installation could be done in the correct sequence. Luis managed to reuse a concrete step, covering it with pavers saving the price of a new install. On installation day a full crew was present and they proceeded to install without delay. Luis coordinated delivery of materials ensuring that my grarage was still accessible during the work. His crew was dedicated to my project, no on again off again work, they stayed until the job was finished. Extra work was easily negotiated when I decided on changes. The crew also rebuilt my fence doors even though it wasn't mentioned in the quote. It didn't even occur to me that I would need to change the height of the doors for the fence but Luis had it covered. I would definitely use them again.
