We heard the orange oil advertisements on radio and called them, since we were interested in less toxic and less disruptive termite treatments than whole house tenting with Vikane. It turns out this company is actually based in Southern California, but is trying to expand into Northern California. They actually have their crews fly up for inspections and treatments. After calling, we had an inspection done pretty quickly. He found areas of termite activity not seen by a previous estimator. He answered our questions about orange oil and Termidor, though he incorrectly described Termidor as a "virus." He gave us a $400 discount since they are new to the area and since we were willing to book a treatment quickly. We received a final estimate and inspection report in the mail, but I was surprised that they were also using another termite product called Premise, which he didn't mention earlier. We are paranoid about chemicals since we had a newborn and toddler in the house. Another surprise was that only one worker showed up, since his partner was sick. Since they aren't based in the area, they don't have back-ups. Still, he worked diligently and without breaks for 8 hours and finished on time. He patched holes in the garage where he injected Premise for subterranean termites, and filled in his drill holes for orange oil, but priming and painting are not included. He provided preventive treatments of Termidor in the crawlspace, attic, and unfinished garage. He was good about covering some things, but several items in the garage got sprayed; unfortunately these were our kid's toys in storage. We were told we didn't need to prepare; otherwise, I would have moved everything out. We were able to stay home the entire time. Orange oil is certainly safe and smells good, but I'm not sure Termidor and Premise are less toxic. A side effect is no yellow jackets, but it seems that we also have less bees (Termidor is toxic to bees), so our fruit trees and vegetable patch had their worst season ever. We haven't seen new termites so far. Work is guaranteed for 1 one year and longer if you pay for their maintenance plan.
