I took the car in with the "check engine" light on. It has been that way for months. They went ahead and ran the inspection. Afterwards they told me it had failed since the light was on. That was obvious before they started! They ran it anyway and charged me $39.95. Then I had to get the car serviced so it would pass. For the second test they charged me $38.36. Since the light was on the first time, the ethical thing to do would have been to send me for service before testing.
