The initial visit was to perform the inspection. Pablo couldn't have been nicer. He first looked at the meter, which I learned was a good predictor of the nature of a leak. He immediately opined that we had a slow leak someplace. I mentioned a drippy faucet in the garage where the laundry sink is and he checked it out, informing me that it was the likely culprit of our 88-GPM (gallons per month) overage. I didn't really believe that - it wasn't a running leak, just a drip. Well, it turns out I was the drip. He placed a container under it, and after 15 minutes, showed me the accumulation. I did the math, and sure enough, the amount of wasted water really did come out to about 80 GPM. I would never have thunk it. Still, he looked under the house and declared it dry (yay), checked all things involving water, and told me we'd need a new faucet to replace the relic in the garage. (The house is 70 years old, and I believe that was the original plumbing fixture.) He conferred with Mike, the owner, transmitted pictures via cell phone, and provided an estimate right away. I didn't know if it was a good price, but it seemed reasonable to me, so I said yes, and we scheduled the work for 3 days hence. Pablo was engaged on another job, so an incredibly personable young man named Mondo (SP?) came. He was a delight. And, for those of you who listen to those annoying commercials about dirty smelly plumbers, I can say he was neatly and cleanly pressed & dressed - more so than any plumber I've ever seen - and did the job in about an hour. He explained what he would do, how long I'd need to have the water turned off, and in the process, demonstrated how much he loves dogs. Our two labs adored him, too, although I tried to keep them at bay so he could work. He just was the nicest young guy. We now have a shiny new faucet with brass fittings, no drips, and a smaller water bill in the making. He put everything back that he had to move, which I appreciated very much. Thank you, All Service Plumbing!
