They stalled for a few weeks, then sent out one person who verified that it wasn't the same quality, specifically the low E feature. They dragged their feet for another few weeks and then sent out another expert that determined that the glass did have low E but that it was on the 'inside' rather than the outside of the glass, and therefore lower efficiency. Window Solutions, specifically the co-owner Debi, told us that their replacement paperwork stated that they couldn't guarantee an 'exact match' and so they weren't going to replace it again. We pointed out that 'exact match' doesn't translate to 'lower quality' or 'downgrade' but she refused to make the situation right. We were going to use this company for a full-house window replacement job while this issue was unfolding, but cancelled and went elsewhere because this experience made us realize that they aren't reliable and their business model isn't honorable. Also, not very intelligent, since correcting their mistake would not have cost them much, would have earned them our good will and possibly an $8000 window job.

The retrofit Milgard windows were installed fine. Three windows and the sliding door needed the stucco cut for the windows we chose. We hired them to demo out the existing windows and have the stucco repaired to paint ready grade. The stucco was not installed to match the existing stucco. Called them for over a year This work was done almost 1 year ago. The original installers came out once to advise us we needed to apply several layers of very thick paint to blend the stucco together. After 4 coats of thick stucco pain, the issue remained.

I would not hire this company nor recommend them to any Angie's list customers.
Note. I left this review in draft for almost 2 years. 2 years later I stand by this review.

The installation was right on time and right on target.  The people were courteous and clean.  They even put on booties for me!

These folks did not replace the hinge, but they were incredibly helpful in finding the right parts for a 10-year old shower door (3/8" tempered glass with aluminum frame). Instead of spending $300-$900 on a replacement door or $1000-$2000 on replacing the entire enclosure with a frameless unit, they found exactly the right part in their warehouse for $13. If you have a pivoting framed shower door, these are the folks to call. If you're in the market for a new shower enclosure framed or frameless with sliding or pivoting doors, they provide a nice line of products. If you need exterior windows, they certainly have that covered. (While I was there, they were working with a guy who wanted to pierce a brick wall to add windows!)

The longest waiting period was for the door to be built and delivered.  I purchased it from Dixieline and they wanted $169 to deliver the door to my house.  Windows solutions picked up the door on the way to my house.  They arrived right on schedule and went right to work.  They had the old casing and doors out very quickly.  The new door was installed and I believe they spent more time just detailing out the door and trim then actually installation.  When finished they vacuumed, swept and removed all the old debris.  The installer had me inspect the installation and told me to call him personally if I found any problems.  Like I said the door is absolutely gorgeous.  The previous doors were installed by another contractor and my wife was not pleased with the quality of the installation.  As far as Do's and don'ts, the key is communication.  The owner of the company stopped by and verified the dimensions of the old doors and reviewed work to be done.

Great service experience from the start. Sales rep Lisa was very helpful. I had measured the window  so she was able to provide a credible initial estimate. She suggested that I find look in the upper left corner to find the manufacturers information. When I was able to provide the information, she reduced the estimated cost since exact detail of the window were known. No measurements were required. The appointment was scheduled at my convenience, the crew called before arriving, arrived on time, worked efficiently, were thorough, cleaned up well and were off quickly

The installation went very well.  They had to rip out stucco and framing and did a good job with that.  With the initial consultation, they said what we wanted wasn't possible with a canopy type window. We were told it would have a large seam and couldn't be as wide as the current window.   The alternative they suggested, a straight replacement of our garden window,   which was more expensive and it took longer.  Once the workers arrived they told me that they could do what we orignally wanted.  In fact they said they did it all the time.  Also, the garden window they arrived with was going to require bracket, very large ones, on the outside of the window that would prevent us from using the space underneath for our grill.  We specifically told them on the initial consultation we needed the window to be high enough to accomodate that grill.

After discussing the situation with the owner he did agree to replace the window with what we originally wanted and keep the garden window for use somewhere else.

The problem was that they still charged us for a more expensive window that they orignally suggested, not the one that was put in.
Response from WINDOW SOLUTIONS
"The concerns the member's were having were dealt with at the time of installation to their satisfaction. All issues were discussed within the owner of window solutions., the sales rep, and the members. Everyone was in agreement with the changes that were made at the time of installation. Since this issue was resolved in May, 2011 we are not sure as to why we are receiving this complaint in July, 2011."

It went great. From the quote ( slightly better than local competitors- price wise) , which was thorough and prompt to the installation of the windows it all went great. We had a slight delay due to rain and due to some other work I was having done but they were willing to hold off install until I was ready. They had to replace a bunch of rotten wood on the new construction window, they did a great job, it looks awesome. Then when they came back to do the other nine windows they were able to get it done in 3.5 hours. I think they were very efficient and they really knew what they were doing. I love my new windows. I would hire them again if I was ever in the market for new windows again.

There was some confusion and miscommunication, but I can take as much responsibility for that as the company can. I was mostly happy with the work performed, though the clean up left something to be desired. I found little shreds of aluminum all over the place--inside and mostly outside--which is not good when you have small kids. Also, the dog busted through the screen on the slider before the fellas had even gotten off my street. They came right back and picked up the screen. It was Friday so they said it'd be at least Monday before I got it back. Well it was. Monday of the NEXT week that is. If I had known, I'd have just taken it down to the hardware store. Also, the quality of the screens is junk. Granted I have a cat and a dog--both have already scratched holes in screens. I replaced all the windows at my former home (different company and windows) and they came with heavy duty fiberglass screens that the animals can't tear. For 4 grand I'd expect Milgard to offer the same option. All in all, compared to other companies who'd come out to give me estimates, these guys were good. They are personable and helpful. And one of very few companies I could find who still do aluminum (not just vinyl.)

I had already priced doors at Home Depot and Lowe's, and even found an (non-licensed) installer. I found Window Solutions online, gave them a call, and they sent an estimator out. That afternoon I got a very competitive bid--- and the added advantage of a professional installation. But price was not the only reason I am so happy with the company. I was on a short timeline, and several days later WS called to tell me the manufacturer was delaying my shipment due to a Utah state holiday. I expressed some disappointment (very kindly), but we agreed that the installation could take place the following week. Later that afternoon I got another callback: Window Solutions had found that the Milguard windows (about $200 higher cost than what I had ordered) could be delivered and installed more quickly. They cancelled the original (delayed) order AND absorbed all extra cost. The installers were detail-oriented, clean, and professional. The front office was excellent. I am now getting an estimate for a full window replacement at our own home. I just signed up for Angie's List, and had to tell this story.
