Ed did an excellent job. He was prompt, courteous and more than reasonably priced. Compared to our former contractor, he is far more professional and conscientious. He shows obvious pride in his work and cares about his clients. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.

Ed at Bernardo Construction is great. Returns phone calls promptly and shows up on time. Ed is great at listening to your needs and ideas and turning them into a profesional looking product. I called Ed up a couple days before the job and pulled the famous "since your here" line basically doubleing the job. He made me aware of all additional costs. The cacth was the next contractors were due the following day. Ed cheerfully took on the challenge and spent a 12 hour day making sure everything was done and ready for the next group of contractors(drywall repairs). My house is 50 years old so there is always a few suprises in the walls. This project was no exception. None of them kept Ed from finishing the job. He provided tarps to keep everything clean and removed all trash from the site.

Everything went well. Ed is a good problem solver and when he needs them, he has great resources to assist. However, there isn't much he can't handle himself. My kitchen looks great, thanks to him.

I was happy with the contractor but I wasn't happy with the subcontractors that he hired to do some of the work. I did grade this strictly by the contractor and not the subcontractors in which he used. They messed up a lot of things that I had to get repaired again. I think it was kind of a waste of money to keep hiring people over and over again.

This project was wonderfully done and I would recommend their service in a heart beat. The workers were so detailed and they were never late when they performed the work. I was very pleased to have them do the job for me and the kitchen looks great.

Punctual with est. and checked everything out then set up appt. Then was punctual on the day we set and started right in cutting the cabinet after putting down cloth and moving out frig from under cabinet!! This is SECOND report I have filled out[don't know where first one went] Finished job and cleaned up everything and also put in new screws on another cabinet door that was falling off. He was such a pleasure to do business with!! I shall definitely have him back!! Thanks to Angie's for finding him for me!!

Ed Bernardo had done some electrical and plumbing work for me previously. In a conversation, I discovered Kitchen remodels were his expertise. As an absentee owner, I was very skeptical of taking on a project of this nature from a distance. With the help of my designer from Phoenix, Jane Phillips, and Ed's knowledge of what needed to be done, the planning process took about 6 months. Throughout that time Ed referred us to very knowledgeable & professional people who made the entire process enjoyable and rewarding. From Dominic @ Christian Brothers Flooring to Ron @ ESAU Cabinetry to Jim @ BAS Appliances and to all the subs that Ed used on my job, all I can say is YOU WERE ALL FANTASTIC to work with and your work was superb! The real credit goes to Ed Bernardo for the fantastic job he did, and to Keith, Ed's Foreman. They were incredible from start to finish. The entire job was completed in two months, with Ed communicating weekly on the progress. It is absolutely stunning!

It was a very positive experience. They did everything they said they were going to do. They cleaned up everyday before they left. They were respectful and the price was fair. The supervisor stayed on top of the project. The workers were very skilled. Everything was of good quality.

I chose Bernardo Construction to remodel my kitchen. Although the configuration of the kitchen was preserved, my job involved removal of a ceiling soffit, drywall, an updated lighting system in the kitchen and adjacent family room, creation of an eating bar, installation of all new appliances, painting, and a little bit of flooring. I was pleased to find Ed, the owner, and Keith to be absolutely dedicated to the project at hand. The guys were always considerate and respectful of my space, and there was an easy flow of communication. In retrospect, I can say the price Ed quoted me was very reasonable. He is sincere in trying to anticipate the job in total, possible glitches, and dislikes piling on additional costs as many others do. As a matter of fact, Ed saved me thousands of dollars and serious delays in work by suggesting alternate solutions to problems. I wouldnt hesitate to hire Ed and company again.

It was a bit of a wait to schedule the work, but once that was done the man came within 15 minutes of the scheduled time & did all the work at a good pace & with excellent workmanship.

Ed, who is owner/manager of the company, and Keith, foreman, are honest and professional. Keith is an amazingly hard worker, never taking a break, and made sure everything was tidy when he was done for the day. We had a few misunderstandings about our project due to our lack of experience in the building trades. I didn't know I was supposed to order cabinets before the room was opened, and then did not know I was to prepay Ed's associate when I picked them out, learning later that he never placed the order. This pushed our completion date back into the busy summer season when Ed and Keith were already booked with other jobs. We also did not know that it was difficult to get one window, and the order was lost a couple times. But the room itself is great, and we can take care of the window and Silestone countertops through Home Depot so as not to hold Ed and Keith up any longer. It was great working with them, and we learned a great deal about the construction business.

You can see the foam squishing out. The trim was poorly installed. Very pleasant, very prompt, and easy to work with.

The crews work was good and efficient. Perhaps rushed sometimes because of other job schedules, requiring reminders to finish some tasks. Plus there were a few final touches not even completed (nail holes filled, touch up paint, hole caulking & wrong t.v. cable hook up.) The primary reason I wouldn't use him again is because he wouldn't provide a price breakdown for his bid (even upon request). Never use a contractor that refuses to give reasonable task cost breakdown! All changes later were priced at his discretion because of the lack of a base line breakdown. At final payment time, there was disagreement because of the number of tasks that weren't performed, and I requested credit for them. He became angry, accepted my assessment (he had no rational argument against it) and accepted the final check, but did not provide final closeout documents as promised and required.

He came out and gave me and estimate. He came on time and was perfect. He also cleaned up after himself and he really knew what he was doing.

THERE WAS SOME CONFUSION ABOUT PRICING WHICH APPLYIED TO NUMBER OF MEN INVOLVED VS. THE HOURLY QUOTE.

We discussed the job thoroughly. They were here for three hours. They gave me a number of ideas. I looked forward to working with them. They told me they would fax over an estimate, and three weeks later I have not heard from them.

Ed Bernardo handled the subs (I am an absentee owner--vacation home). He was prompt, reliable, and got the job done as planned. A very pleasant experience. I am consulting with Ed regarding a major kitchen remodel.

Ed and his team were extremely knowledgeable of the codes. The frenchdoors that we picked from DixieLine were perfectly installed. Daily clean-up was never a question. They even moved an A/C register to accommodate the overall look. We then had them install our new deck. They are overall handymen as well. I highly recommend them. Sometimes they get real busy and may find it hard to immediately respond but who hasn't experienced that problem with so-called handyman and construction professionals. Email me if you have questions about their service. They are by far the best in my book.

"Some people can never be satisfied" was the last comment by Ed when I expressed my feelings about the work. Based on my estimate, this work should cost only $2600. I went with Ed because of all the good feedback on this list & was thinking that I'm working with 1 contractor. Electrical: OK finish - anybody could've done it. Texture: Shoddy job. Didn't do a good cleanup job. Didn't put the furniture back in place. Left the plastic sheets & waste material in a box inside the house. They even left their own drink mugs on the hardwood floor (ice water dripping on the floor). Splattered texture material all over (still finding on wall & other places) - this is because they didn't spend enough time preparing before starting the work. Minor damage to hardwood floor moving the furniture. Painting: Not a bad job. Overall, in my opinion, I didn't get my money's worth.

ED, THE OWNER IS GREAT. HE IS VERY ACCOMMODATING AND HAS LOTS OF IDEAS TO DO THINGS DIFFERENTLY AND SAVE MONEY. HE IS VERY HONEST AND THAT'S HARD TO FIND THESE DAYS IN THE CONSTRUCTION BUSINESS. ALL THE WORK IS QUALITY.
