see above. it was terrible. My advise use a regular plumber not a franchise. I have a regular plumber but my husband insisted on calling Ben Franklin because his yellow page had said he fixed leaks. Most plumbers do that. They also charge a $89.00 trip charge. SO it you don't like their outrageous prices you have to pay the trip charge.

they are professional and give a quote and stick to the quote. no estimates then re-estimates like roto rooter; where the price keeps climbing. they know what is wrong and will give you the right estimate; identified issues to watch out for and overall we have been very happy with their services.

There was a bad water leak and time was a factor. He was able to do it the next day after the quote. He charged 800 dollars for what turned out to be 2.5 hours of work. In order to save him time and effort, actually, he used plastic piping instead of copper and then argued his way out of it after he was told that we wanted copper piping and expected quality materials to be used in the job since it cost so much. Overall, it was a complete rip off.
Response from Benjamin Franklin Plumbing
"(removed member name), If you would still like copper pipe in place of the PEX for your tub/shower valve we can change it. I think that you may have misinterpreted my attempt to educate you on the virtues of PEX as "arguing my way out of it". Had we been told that you wanted copper before the job started or when the technician showed you the completed job, we would have changed it right then and there, but somehow you have the idea that we used the PEX pipe solely for our convenience. That simply is not true. We do not use sub-standard plumbing products and know that PEX is better for water piping than copper. I use it in my own home. In my conversations with you and your father there was concern that the PEX would leach chemicals and toxins into the water. There is greater likelihood of harmful chemicals as well as rust or other impurities from the galvanized pipe that the house water system is plumbed with. PEX is an inert plastic. It is not like the BPA plastics that get used for bottled water that leach into the water. If you've ever tasted bottled water that has been in the sun for a while, you can taste the chemicals. PEX does not do that. In addition, the section of PEX we installed for you is on the riser for your shower head. The only time the water has contact with the pipe is when you divert it from the tub to the shower, and that is only a split second. Otherwise, the pipe is empty. Again, if you'd like to replace the PEX with copper we can do it. If you'd like more information about PEX, the following link does a concise job of describing it. http://jobsite.buildiq.com/articles/greener-building/pex-plumbing-green.aspx"

I called on 6/16/2011, they arrived when they said they would. They were not able to do the job until the afternoon of 6/17/2011. They arrived at 12:30 and were finished before 3:00. Very nice and professional.

There was a plumbing leak Saturday afternoon. They arrived in the early evening, as promised, and went right to work to make the repair. I asked for a quote to have the house re-plumbed, which they promptly did, they scheduled the work immediately. Their efficiency, cost, and professionalism was what led to their getting the contract. From emergency call, through the repair, to the final re-plumb, I couldn't have asked for better service!

We had been in our new house for ~2 months and had plumbing issues. Used our Home Warrenty Service, American Home Sheild (AHS). They sent out Boyle Plumbing. The guy was a newbie but fixed the problem. Had a 2nd issue (leaky kichen faucet) and called AHS. They sent out Boyle plumbing again and he fixed the leak. Then I started to realize the water from the kitchen sink wasn't very hot, buth the bathroom water was. Called AHS again, and specificaly said "Do not send Boyle Plumbing" Benjamin Franklin plumbing came, and when I said ..."the kitchen sink had no hot water but bath did and the guy was just here working on the kitchen sink"...he got this "a ha" look in his eye. Knew exactly what had happened. There is a valve (white circular piece of plastic w/ a slit in it) in the kitchen sink that was meant to go in the bathroom. In bathrooms, the slit is narrow, giving a smaller range of motion, so people don't get scalded in the shower. In the kitchen, this slit is bigger, giving a bigger range of motion and hotter water, so one can clean butter xmas cookie dough off of bowls.

After noticing a high chlorine odor, and bad taste in my tap water,(I wass also feeling slightly ill) I called our local water company. The water company sent out someone who tested my tap water and found it to be at 1.57 for the chlorine level (not good) He told me that they were using a new system, and that it should become lower soon.At this point I started buying bottled water to drink and cook with. The next week, nothing had changed, so I again called the water company. This time they sent out the manager, he tested the water and found the chlorine level to be at 1.7. This is close to Pool level. He told me that it was strange that the level was so high where I live (Im on a hill), and that they had not recieved any other customer complaints. He said that they would try flushing the system to see if that lowered the chlorine level. After he left, I did an internet search and found "EWG's drinking water database" This is a wonderfull website which shows the water test results for most if not all water companies in the US. The results were frightning. Although my local water company had no EPA violations since the 2006/2007 testing period, they consistantly test over the allowed health guidelines for safe drinking water.Something had to be done, After haveing had Benjamin Franklin Plumbing out in the past for misc. plumbing work, I decided to call them about my water problem. Stan, a technician, and the owner is who I spoke with. He came to my home within 2 days of my call, and installed a "whole house" water purification system. The work was completed the same day, and I am super happy with the work that was done.

I had a plumbing problem but we didn't know where. The mold guy who had come out suggested I call a plumber as the mold test came out positive for my kitchen. The plumber has been great. He sent someone out and they found out that the leak was going down into the kitchen under the cabinet. He wrote a letter for my insurance company, which he didn't have to do, explaining in detail exactly what he found. He came out personally to run the test and make sure that there weren't any other leaks. There were three plumbers that came out, which I thought was great. While they were doing the job, they noticed that the pipes behind my washer were ready to explode. After showing them to me, they replaced all of them. They are immaculate. They seem to stay clean right through the day. They cover their shoes with the little bags at the door. If anything goes wrong, he is right there to make sure it is fixed. I had had a cheaper plumber come out years ago who had told me that nothing was wrong with the kitchen.

I heard a loud noise at the back end of my home, and discovered that there was a leak under the floor in master bathroom. I grabbed the phone book and started calling plumbers. After eithier receiving no answer, or answering machines for the first 4 companies called, I finally got to speak to a live person (woohoo). I had actually gotten the answering service for Benjamin Franklin plumbing. I explained my situation, and was told that I would get a call from a plumber within 30 mins. I got the call in 15mins. The man, Stan Kincannon, was very nice, I told him what was going on and he asked if I had turned off the water to my house. I told him that I had not. He talked he through the process of shutting of the main water to the house, and said that he would be at my home within 30 to 45 minutes. Stan Kincannon arraived at my home , and had the leak fixed, and my water back on in less than 2 hours.
