We interviewed 4 different solar companies about putting up panels on our house. As we were going through the process, we found out about the "lease" program from a few companies, including REC. When it came down to it, it seemed REC was the most straightforward and upfront of the them all as to what they could do for us and what the results would be. They also appeared to be the company most interested in getting our business. Andrew was terrific every step of the way in getting  us started and each handoff to the design/engineers and then to the installers was very well handled. The installers did a very clean professional job and even recently came back to install barriers to prevent birds from nesting under the panels.The system was installed in November and was turned on December 9, 2011. In the six months since we have had it, it has performed very well. In fact, as of this morning, not only has the system generated all of the electricity we have needed, but we have a 322 KwH reserve to help us get through the summer when the A/C starts kicking in. This has been a very good investment.

We had interviewed over 12 companies prior to our initally interview with REC.  We needed the solar system installed within 6 weeks. REC told us that they could meet our requirements, and would also get an extention of our California Rebate if necessary.   Within the first week of signing the contract with REC, a system designer was at the house discussing the design and installation of the system.  Later that day I had received an email from him with the design written up and submitted to their sales department, to get parts ordered. A week later I received a phone call from the regional manager to set up the schedule for installation.  We were also to have the roof refelted to ensure that when the system was up on the roof that no one would be goint up there.  The regional manager contacted my roofer and worked out the coordination with him.  I was still involved with the scheduling, but I would A week   with me

receive notification from either my roofer if REC contacted him, and I would hear from REC regional manger if he was contacted by my roofer.  This went very smoothly, and as anyone knows coordinating two contractors can be a nightmare.  A week later our REC sales rep. contacted me to arrange a date and time for us to go to COSTCO to pay for solar panels and other equipment.  Once the equipment was paid for it was only two weeks later that my roofer had the roof ready and REC was on site installing the first portion of the equipment, and then my roofer followed up with his work.  REC and my roofer worked fabulously together to both ensure all roof penatration were sealed but also that all equipment anchored and set with roof when the job was finished.  REC finished up within the 6 weeks and had obtained an extension for the California Rebate however, we received our PTO Permission To Operate on the date of our original rebate experation date.  We have an 8Kw system with the TIGO optimizers, and from the initial sales rep., the designer, reginal manager, and the installation team we could not be more pleased with our experiance with REC.  Our's was a large job and due to REC's professionalism and customer care approach, I am more than pleased to sing their praise.

Overall, the experience was outstanding. Over a period of six months, from contact to completion, they established a schedule. They met every deadline and were constantly ahead of schedule. They completed the work earlier than anticipated. The technicians were extremely clean while they were working, cleaning up behind themselves constantly. They really knew what they were doing and were very professional. They did everything that I asked them to do, and I couldn’t be happier. The inspectors were happy with REC Solar’s work as well. Their cost was about 10% less than any other company we talked to. In fact, their costs were reduced during the process, since they realized some thing weren’t necessary. They even coached us through buying the hardware through Costco, so we received a rebate. I keep daily records, and as of today, the systems been outperforming my expectations and their predictions.

The process leading up to getting the work complete wasn’t as smooth as it should’ve been. Originally, I didn’t want the solar panels on the roof, so they were going to install them on a hillside. It took a lot for them to figure out that it was not a good place to do that. The end product is certainly functioning, and I’ve had no issues with it. The installation was professional and good, but I didn’t enjoy the process getting there. A year later, I called them to receive a quote about installing solar panels at my business, but they never got back with me.

The work that they did was fine. They are the ones who introduced me to the idea of a Solar Lease, so it was a very low cost option. It was a great experience overall.

The experience was very fine overall. They were very easy to deal with. They ended up doing more work than what they thought was needed initially, but they kept their word of what was agreed, even though they might've lost money on that. I had no problems or issues.

The experience was very positive overall. Southern California Edison caused delays, but it wasn’t any fault to REC Solar. We’re very pleased with their work and I would recommend them to others.

The work has turned out beautifully. They really had it together from the planning all the way to the finish. The technicians showed up on time and as scheduled, and took care of everything with getting the system installed.  With the recent repair, all I had to do was send them an email, and they sent a technician right out. Update Nov 7, 2012 - I suspect I'm not feeding as much power into the grid as I should be and I had an error message from the inverter. An email got me a phone call the next morning with a customer service tech who walked me through taking several readings from my inverter.  He will evaluate them and we we perform the same readings next week to confirm whether a service call is required.

They were a very good company to work with. The technicians were prompt, completed the work, and were incredibly nice. They explained everything to us thoroughly. The only glitch was that when they finally got to painting the stucco around the box, they were a little bit slow, but everything else went smoothly. It was expensive, but I’m not sure if their price was any less or any more than any other company. We were very pleased, and we actually recommended them to a friend of ours.

The work was fine. The technicians were professional, competent, and got the job done that needed to get done. I was satisfied with their price at the time. One issue happened just recently, which they addressed, but I wish they would’ve explained to me more thoroughly.  Basically, I needed to check on the system every day to make sure it was working. The system shut down without my knowledge, since there was some sort of malfunction for many months that I was unaware of, and I also didn’t know that I needed to check the system daily. I found out that there was no power being produced, and they explained to me that if I wanted to keep track of the power being produced, I would need to purchase more equipment. Because of this, I lost at least 3 or 4 months of production from the system. I think this might just be how these systems are, but it would’ve been nice to have this explained to me or offered to compensate me for my inconvenience.

Both the work and the experience with them were excellent. The technicians were timely and professional. The inspectors who came out to check the work once it was complete were impressed and told me that the work was done excellently. I’ve had no problems with the system at all; it’s worked beautifully. Given the work that they did, their price was good. I also had a roof installed at the same time, and REC solar worked with the roofing company to make sure everything went smoothly.

So far, the experience has been good. The technicians were incredibly professional, showed up on time, completed the work on time and within their estimates. They were generally very easy to deal with. They’ve done a great job.

Overall, the experience was great. Jonathon is the salesman and employee that we primarily dealt with. The technicians were very neat in what they do; throughout the process they were very careful. They explained everything thoroughly and talked with my wife & I about how they were going to do the work, and what the outcome would be. They did a beautiful job installing the system and made sure it’s not visible on our home. They made a promise that they would finish the job within a certain number of days, and I found that doubtful, but they were right on. Using the system is requiring some computer work on our part, which I was unaware of, and Jonathon is coming by soon to explain the computer that go along with the panels. They educate people with what the options are, and how and where to save money. They will take the time to answer questions, and make an effort to stop by to answer them. I found their work to be excellent. There are government tax breaks as well that are involved. Our entire system cost about $30,000, but we got a $10,000 rebate from the federal government, along with a $3,000 rebate from the power company. After we had the system installed, our first electric bill was $5!

They were very professional and the representative was very knowledgeable. I had a very good experience.

The experience was pretty good from start to finish. We did get rebates. We would absolutely use them again in the future.

The work was completed on schedule and all the components installed and checked out quickly. So far no problems and I am very pleased.
