Paul Davis Restoration of South Orange County

terrible - we were in place to hire John Asalone/Paul Davis Restoration and Remodeling as all the reviews we read from other venues were very favorable. Until..... we made the fatal mistake of calling after hours. We were told his son was always "on call", John also gave us his (John's) cell phone if we needed to reach him so we really did not think we were out of line reaching out to him on a Saturday afternoon. John told us during our initial meeting, that if he was working on our job and an emergency job came in, he would immediately leave our job as is and tend to the emergency. We thought that a bit strange but accepted that term. The other odd item in the estimate was the 50% down payment at the start of the job, the Contractors State License Board specifies 10% or $1000. We had a quick question about his estimate before signing it and rather than calling John's cell phone on a Saturday afternoon we called the main number. We explained to the service we had a quick question and what it was about. A few minutes later, we received a phone call from a very irate and indignant John Asalone, close to screaming at us for simply calling him. We reminded him he told us his son was on call, he advised us that was for emergencies ONLY and he would now not take the job. In our opinion he was very unprofessional and his conduct was very inappropriate and uncalled for. We were very happy to see this side of his demeanor before we signed the contract. We feel it is important to share the negative comments as well as the good!
