O.C. Pool Technicians

I highly recommend Steve and his crew at O.C Pool Technicians. They are professional and a pleasure to do business with. They were very flexible with any changes I wanted to make and always had time to answer my questions. He came up with a plan to fit my budget and there were no unexpected extra costs. I will use them again for any future projects

They were professional and on time. They provided a great service. They did really well.

After reading a not so good  review I had some apprehension in letting Steve  bid on my project. In retrospect I would have missed out greatly. From the inception he was not only personable and knowledgeable but was also candid in exploring cost effective options on the remodel of my pool. I had gotten half a dozen estimates and fallen in the trap of "what kind of budget are we looking at?". He came in 5K under the lowest bid worked timely and never played me. He left me with a beautiful pool my kids could not wait to enjoy. As projects of the caliber evolved one is always leery of the unforeseen additional cost for ???  that did not happen here he was true to our agreement. In fact he included upgrades at no additional cost. A welcomed relief when dealing with contractors. I recommend him without reservation.

We contacted Steve through Angie List because we wanted to give our old 80 style pool a much needed and quot;faceliftand quot;. Unfortunately, to finances a full remodel is not an option at this time so we wanted to do the best we could with the limited funds we had available. We contact several pool contractors and Steve at OC Pool Technicians was the only one who seemed to undertsand our budget and needs. He came out for a consultation and told my husband the possibilities and his recomendations of how to spend our $1000 max budget. Our primary concerns were the staining and discoloration of our white pool plaster, tile, and grout. We also had a missing pool drain cover. Steve told my husband that once the acid bath was done the plaster would be white again and the discoloration and stain would be gone that he could clean up the tile and grout and that he could replace the drain cover and replace the spa light all within our budget. It took about a week to get a written estimate and after careful consideration we decided to move forward. It took about another week to schedule the start of the work. it started with draining the pool which took a couple days, then the repair of plaster on the step, then the acid bath which took a day, then the sanding, then to our surprise with a couple of days from starting the job, he was filling the pool back up. It's here we run into all the complaints...the pool plaster was not all white after he did his job, you could visibly see the same discoloration and while the staining was better it was not by any means gone as he'd promised. We contacted Steve and he responded that that was best it would get and that to him it looked beautiful. Well that's great but to me it looks the same and I'm the paying customer. So we pushed the issue and continued to express disappointment. Then came the excuses...he had one for everything we weren't pleased with...the first excuse... was too old to do any more treatments or sanding and that if we wanted more we would have to sign a waiver releasing him of any libaility or damage to the pool. Feeling very disouraged and not pleased which we communicated to Steve we had him finish the work on the spa light and filled in the pool. Our only request was that he make the tile and grout sparkle to hopefully at least give the pool the illusion of being updated. He said he came out and worked on it several times but it not nuch better either--definitely not how I expected/he promised it to be. When we communicated how unhappy we were with the tile/grout outcome we got excuse number two..now it was it too old and simply needed to be replaced. WOW! Really! we already new that and we're not pool contractors. the experiance and outcome was less than diserable and while there is an improvement in the appearance of the pool its absoluely not what we were lead to believe it would be. It's. About 60% better than it was to start. Absolutely not $1000 better. Of course, he wanted to be paid along the way for the process and upon completion. He offered no discount for the service even though we weren't happy with the outcome. In my opinion he found out how much money we had to spend, told us what we wanted to hear, and made promises to get our business but couldn't ever deliver what he promised to. I've had lots of great experiences with Angie's List contractors this just wasn't one of them.

Steve who owns Ocpooltechnicians visited in the morning and by the evening we had an written estimate for the work. The next morning Steve followed up with me to ensure I received the quote and if I had any questions. He was the only one to do this little step out of 4 others. The Ocpooltechnicians rebuilt my approximately 15000 gallon pool and attached spa. They installed white plaster, repaired all of the cracks and installed a new tile border. The coping was still in great condition, so I did not have them quote on that. I accepted their proposal on a Thursday and on Saturday they were doing the demolition. I went to NPT to pick the tile. They gave us several samples which I hung on the pool to get a feel. We ordered new incandescent lights because upon inspection, they were rusted and defective. Steve had some LED lights he installed for the same price as the incandescent which was a free upgrade for us. AWESOME! They look great! Next, we chose the tile. We had to wait a few days for our tile order to come in. Ocpooltechnicians picked up the tile and commenced installing it. The actual tile job took about 4 hours. A few tiles sagged and didn't line up the way I liked. Steve came out the next day and marked the sagging tiles and the tile crew fixed them perfectly on the same day they plastered the pool. In one area there was some rebar rusting. The crew cut that piece out. They installed new jets, and drain covers. Steve came out to start up the pool after we refilled it. He added some chemicals and vacuumed the surface with his own pump/vacuum setup. He did this two different days. I had planned to replace the filters in early 2014 and figured they would be good enough to get me through the startup and rest of the year. Steve said they had to be thrown out. The filter was not going to work. But there was no money in the budget for a new filter. Steve had a used DE filter in his warehouse that he installed for free! He said he could not start the pool up with my filtration. He said not to worry about it, he would take care of it. That kind of service is extremely rare indeed. Steve was always available and on the rare time he did not pick up, he returned calls within 5 to 10 minutes. From the time he came out to quote, I always felt very comfortable and had no problem trusting him. My family and I are extremely pleased with the work and we can't wait for the next swimming season. Our pool looks new! I plan on converting the pool to a salt system next year and Ocpooltechnicians are doing the work. We definitely got our moneys worth and we have a new pool expert for the future.

They brought my awful, leaking, 1975 spa into the 21st century. The guys were neat and cleaned up before leaving every day. Steve, the owner, was hands on. He came by almost daily to make sure everything was going okay. Steve is honest and super nice. He is very knowledgeable and gave some very good advise. His price was very fair for all the work they did and I believe I got more than my monies worth. He went above and beyond my expectations. I am very happy with everything they did. I would highly recommend this company. You won't be disappointed. I wish every experience was as good as this one.
