General Remodeling
These guys are a JOKE. Brian Powers is the owner and he has a guy named Joe do the work for him. First off, they work slower than molasses. Took over 6 weeks to accomplish the bathroom addition and living room remodel and that was just framing, drywall, and doors. Had numerous issues with walls being extremely crooked and very noticeable to the naked eye. They put a pony wall in the bathroom and the end of it was over 1/4" out of square in a 5" span...I think Stevie wonder could have done better. The wall walking into the master bedroom had a severe dip(over 1/4" in a 3' span) and was wavy all over. Their first attempt to fix it was to bring the drywaller back in to have him float the wall. Well, being the sloppy worker that Joe is, he didn't even remove the baseboards or crown for the drywaller. Drywaller had to add so much mud that it created a lip over the baseboards and crown, and the corners were over 1/4" off. We told them that this was unacceptable and made them rip it out and gave them another shot at fixing it. They tore out the drywall and replaced it... And there was still NO improvement. We confronted them about it and Joe's fix was to knock the drywall loose from the studs to bring it out to level(ie. half-a**). The bottom of the drywall can be pushed in and out by hand. The wall is still extremely wavy. As if those two issues weren't enough, the bathroom ceiling has over 1/4" bow in the middle, down the length of the room. The 30" section that they added on is noticeably lower to the eye and with a level. Joe's fix for this was to go into the attic and knock the drywall loose from the studs to let it drop down. It is no longer tight against the stud and there is still a bow in down the middle of the room and the ceiling is completely un-level. None of the issues with crooked walls were ever satisfactorily fixed. Moral of the story with these guys is that if you like slow, sloppy, un-level work and half-assed fixes when there is an issue, then go ahead and hire them. Otherwise, stay far far away!
