DOVE CEILINGS NORTH

These guys were great. They were quick, did a high quality job, and cleaned up well. The ceilings look really good! We actually used Dove Ceilings South, but they seem to be the same company. After installation we had a little issue with a light switch, and an electrician was literally at our door within an hour of us calling on a Monday morning - excellent customer service. Very highly recommended.

Jay and his team at Dove ceiling did an amazing job! It was a lot of work. They were always punctual, and didn't falter on their promises. The price was middle of the road, but you get what you pay for. The nice thing about Dove Ceilings is they did good work and finished in the time frame they promised, which is huge for us. The house looks amazing, like brand new. We were so happy to get the old 1980's house up to speed and bring it into the new century. All of the workers were polite and courteous and never got in the way. They cleaned up every day and cleaned as they worked. We would use Dove Ceilings again any day, and wish them the best.

Easy to get an estimate and set an appointment for work to be done.
Pros:
-Large crew (4 or 5 people) and on time.
-Cleaned up after themselves (left a few items behind (empty tape roll, empty caulk bottle and coffee cup)), but nothing to big I couldn't handle just throwing out.
-They tell you up front they don't reinstall the electrical, but if you ask nicely, they will. Most of the lights worked after they left and I had to call in an electrician to install a ceiling fan so I had him fix what didn't work. They do completely remove ceiling fans so they can get all the popcorn underneath it. Some companies don't.
-Price was exactly where it should have been. Called 3 different companies and Dove was right in the middle and reasonable.
Cons:
-Some of the edges, along the walls upstairs, don't look like they were textured properly (some of the corners seem to be missing texture in the hallway and you can tell someone's finger ran along the wall).
-Third bedroom has obvious texture lines in a few spots that were not smoothed out.
-A couple spots didn't have caulk or the caulk separated so it looks like there is a small hole there.
-Paid extra for them to fix (flatten or straighten) a wall over fireplace that had previous water damage and was curved (even called the owner to make sure he understood what I wanted). Couldn't tell until everything dried and I hung my clock back up, but wall actually seemed more curved afterwards and wasn't flat. They fixed the waves at the top, but that was it. Not sure if they didn't understand what I was telling them or what.
-Had to write my neighbor a check for water usage because they hooked up to her water faucet (mine was broken, but they should have used the one in back or at least told me they needed one so I could ask her).
Overall they did a decent job and there were just a few minor issues. I didn't even notice most of it until a month and a half later when I had some of the lights reinstalled and hung the clock back up only to see it still rocked back and forth. Decent, but not perfection which is why I went with a B overall.

It's now July 2014 and I'd like to add to my review. I just changed my would I use this provider again to a and quot;Noand quot; based on the following things. Now that its summer, I'm getting a lot more natural light in the rooms of my house so I can see what kind of job they did upstairs. In my opinion, not good at all. Downstairs I don't really have any complaints besides my curved wall that was never fixed. Upstairs wow. Each room has a problem. There are some areas in these rooms that don't look like they were textured completely/properly. Strips on the ceiling that have little pin holes and obvious flaws when the light hits them. Like I said above, corners in the hallway without texture. I've talked to some other companies about the issues and they are confirming what I was thinking. Considering paying someone to come in and fix it because its really irritating to look at.

I purchased an early 1960's home and wanted the popcorn removed before our move. In order to accomplish this, Dove construction was kind enough to schedule work for a Saturday. As luck would have it the home did not close on schedule due to the negligent escrow company. We did not find this out until 6 pm the night before the work was to be performed. Dove Construction was very accommodating and rescheduled the work immediately following the delayed closing. They did a great job. It was a bit more expensive because the home is all electric and has heating coils in the ceiling which makes the removal a bit more complicated and labor intensive. My only complaint is the yellow runs down the walls from the liquid used to remove the popcorn was not cleaned off. Everything else was great.

When we bought our house, we had a really tight schedule from the time escrow closed, to the time we had to move in. We had to be quick in getting estimates, and then doing the actual service. Other companies we got quotes from took their sweet time in giving us an estimate. They still wanted to invite us to their office to sit down and talk about it. We had no time for that. We wanted direct and upfront no-nonsense answers.
When we first called, Jay was able to come immediately for an estimate. He quickly scanned the house and took measurements, and was able to give me the cost right there and then. And the best part is, when I told them about our tight schedule, he agreed to it and had people over the very next day at 7AM.
We chose Dove Celings because they were quick to give us a quote, and then quick to get the job done, all while maintaining good quality. Jay was very professional and courteous, and being first time homeowners, was very patient in explaining things to us about home things that were new to us. We highly recommend Dove Ceilings for ceiling!

I was on site during a portion of the work but was unable to stay until the work was completed. Dealing with Dave was a pleasure. He was very professional, prompt and responsive in our communications. The end product was beyond my expectations. There was a minor problem, caused by me, which necessitated additional rescheduling by Dave's crew. They never raised a concern over this. They worked with me in rescheduling, including working on a Saturday. The crew cleaned the work area and left the premises in a cleaner condition than when they arrived. All in all, this was one of my best experiences in dealing with a contractor. I would not hesitate to use them again. Their price was reasonable. In short, quality is long remembered after price is forgotten.

The work was scheduled and the crew showed up 35 minutes late but they set up and got to work right away. They draped every wall, all furniture, and the floor in plastic. Plastering is a messy process! They did the entire condo (large living room, dining room, 2 bedrooms and a hall) in one day and cleaned up after themselves well. The plaster took several days to dry, partly because the weather turned rainy for two days after the job was done. Dove would have painted the ceiings but I had a painter coming to do extensive work and just added it to his job. The clean, smooth ceilings look terrific and the effect makes the condo look much cleaner and more up-to-date. They did an excellent job.

Note that we used Dove South, but the companies are related. The entire experience was excellent. Dave, the owner, personally gave us the estimate and was very courteous. The price was competitive with another ceiling specialist's bid and was well below a general contractor's figure.
Adam, the project manager, was also very helpful and courteous. Everyone at Dove was always on time, offered useful and cost-effective solutions/suggestions and did quality work.
This was no small investment to us, but it went a long way toward updating our home. We are very happy with this work and we will gladly recommend Dove to others.

The scrape and texture was done on 11/28/12. I was informed that the employees would be at my home between 7:30 - 8:00 a.m. They arrived at 7:45 a.m. - great!
On 12/3/12 the painting was completed. Employees were to be at my home between 7:30 - 8:00 a.m. I received a call around 7:50 to inform me that they would be around 15- 20 minutes late because of traffic. I really appreciated the update.
My brother and sister-in-law had their ceilings done by Dove; they were very pleased. My neighbor has two friends who had their ceilings done by Dove; they were very pleased. One of my neighbors just had her ceilings done by Dove after she saw how smoothly everything went with my experience. Another friend of mine will be having her ceilings done by Dove after the New Year.
Everything went as planned and I am pleased how Mark took the time to listen to me and made me feel that they wanted to take care of my home (which included taped plastic everything - at least three layers of plastic). There was only one small imperfection I noticed after all the work was completed. I called Mark and he personally came out to clean some paint off skylight and made sure I was completely happy with the work.

The work was great and the price could not have been beaten. Everything was cleaned up and not a spot left. Jay came out several times before the work began and went over any questions that I had, so I knew exactly what to expect. They took several hours just taping the plastic so the popcorn would be caught in the tarp and finished removing the popcorn in one day. They came back two days later and textured (drop down) and painted. I couldnt be more pleaased the way it looks. Now I feel like I have a new home!

Had the estimate, which was a little higher than I wanted to go, but the reviews were excellent and I wanted a quality job. The work was done over several days, scrape and retexturing on one day and painting 3 days later. I have to say that given the type of work performed, hardly a trace of popcorn ceiling was left behind on the floors. Painters were equally tidy and I feel that I got more than I paid for. I would absolutely use Dove again, they were great.

The project went very smoothly and I am very pleased with the results and would highly recommend Dove Ceilings to anyone that needs this service.
As is usual I had obtained several estimates for doing this work. Six estimate from paint contractors that claimed to remove popcorn ceiling, from contractors that specialized in general home remodeling and two contractors that specialized specifically in acoustic removal and re-finishing houses with lath and plaster ceilings. Surprisingly the bids were within 20% of one another but my confidence level was only met after talking to the contractors that really only work popcorn removal and had lotts of experience with lath and plaster.
I chose Dove Ceilings and it turned out great. They did a comprehensive estimate, explained all the details of what was to be done and what my preparation responsibilities would be and how long the job would take.
I was pleasantly surprised that my prep work was minimal basically clearing horizontal surfaces. They did all the hard stuff like removing light fixtures and ceiling fans etc. They estimated 3 to 4 days for the full process and it took two days to remove the popcorn and replaster and texture coat the ceilings and than an additional day to prime and paint the ceilings. After painting they replaced all the fixtures.
They did a great job everyday to basically encapsulate the working areas before starting the work and cleaning up at the end of the day after work was done for the day. I cannot emphasize enough how important this is because popcorn removal has got to be the messiest job one can imagine. In reality it is worse than one would imagine.
Dove did a great professional job. It turned out even better than I imagined it would. The crews were friendly, showed up on time and obviously knew exactly what to do and did it efficiently and well. They worked long days to finish as promised. The cleanup was great.
Again I would highly recommend this company.

Dove was prompt, courteous and completed the job quickly. There was some residue left in some closet areas and on some light/fan fixtures, but easily cleaned and removed. Overall we were very pleased with the quality of the work.

Estimate was reasonable, work was done in a timely manner over 2 days as promised and cleanup was done well.

They were good.

They were on time, professional, covered all surfaces, did all clean up and were back to paint as agreed upon on time and were extremely efficient. Our ceiling are no longer outdated and look great. Very happy with the outcome and with the companies work, people and the end result speaks for itself.

I don't remember how much I spent. I would never use them again. I told them that I needed the living room ceiling to match the kitchen ceiling which was attached. There was no wall between them. It all was going to be one ceiling. They told me to go down and pick out the texture I wanted. I told them I wanted them to be matched and it looks nothing like it at all. Now I have been told that to fix it would be more than I ever paid for it in the first place. I have just had to matt finish paint it so that it doesn't stick out. They didn't disconnect my ceiling fan from the electricity so when they put it back up, they blew the motor on my ceiling fan out and I had to replace the ceiling fan. I would not recommend them. I can't say anything about the price because it was too long ago. I don't remember if they were punctual. They were not professional considering that they didn't really listen to what I had to say and they blew my ceiling fan out. I would not use them again in the future.

They were excellent. The price was right. They were on timely and very professional. They put plastic on everything except the cat. They cleaned up every day. They were very courteous. Mark, who is the owner, came out, was punctual and courteous and gave us a good estimate and was very helpful as far as selection of color, style and texture of the new ceiling.

Overall they did a good job. They were willing to negotiate and were responsive to our requests. The finished product is good, but there are a couple of imperfections if you look really closely. However, they did a good enough job that I recommended them to friends.

This crew showed up on time and went to work right away. They did an incredible job and cleaned up after them completely. You would not have known they were there except that our ceilings look great. There is some cracks reappearing but they did warn us on that and they are so small you actually do not notice them. For the price this was an excellent service.
