+ -1 moreThe unit is working but every time the compressor kicks on it hammers so loud you can hear it inside the house and the lights flicker in the house. The service tech stated he thought it my be the breaker placement in my electrical panel and that may be the cause of the hammering sound and the lights. The breaker has been in the same place for the old 5 ton compressor and for the new unit so I don't understand that diagnosis. So overall not good at all. poor response, lied to, and a repair that still appears to have problems.
Description of Work: My air conditioner stopped working on one of the hotest week of the year 7/3/2012, the company that installed my original unit in 2010 had changed ownership and was not going to honor the warranty and they no longer were a certified Carrier repair facility, so I found Alicia Air on Angie's List and I contacted them they pushed me out 5 days to someone come even show up, and then another day due to their workload. I explained that I needed someone immediately because we run a business in our home, the phone representative Peggy demonstrated a "don't care" attitude. When service tech finally showed up he said we had a leak and had three options: perform a immediate test which may or may not indicate a leak, perform a one week test, or re-charge and hope it holds. I took the one week test and the tech said someone will contact to make arrangements I need 85 dollars for my time. a week later another person showed up to start the test, and he was to return in a week to locate whether the leak was on the compressor side or unit side. The day the tech was to show up the phone rep Peggy from Alicia Air stated that their tech that had started the test had called in sick and we would have to wait another day, I protested and said can't you send someone else, to which she repied do want the original tech or someone not familiar with the test?? The next day a different tech not the original showed up and said he did not know anything about the other tech ( I felt lied to) . He found the compressor and the connection to the compressor to be the problem, the tech left and I to wait almost another week for the boss to give me a call to find out was covered by the Carrier warranty and what I was going to have to pay. I was going to have to pay the labor, tests, Puron costs, and for the service calls prior approx1,400 dollars. Four days later the repaired the unit a total of almost 4 weeks from the first call to final repair.

+ -1 moreThey did a great job. When a leak sprang up at the outside water connection they came in immediately to fix it. I've used them before to install a whole-house air conditioner as well as a small wine-cellar air conditioner. They always do a good job.

Description of Work: Tech arrive on time, performed diagnostics, attached wire for outside unit to work with inside unit, added freon and taper safety caps, and installed updated thermostat I had already purchased.

+ -1 moreJoe visited me on a Monday morning to review my HVAC system, and suggest a solution to inadequate performance. I was fully expecting to replace the system. He returned the next day with another staff member so they could further explore the issues and discuss the situation. I was very impressed with my communications with these people, and their professionalism. I would certainly recommend them to others based on their time and discussions with me. In the end we selected another company. However I am sure we would be very satisified with the work Alicia Air would have provided. In this case, we had very positive results from each contractor.

+ -1 moreIt is always a good idea to get estimates from more than one service provider. Before I gave the job to Alicia, another firm gave me an estimate that was materially higher.
Description of Work: Alicia did repairs on the heater/air conditioner at a rental property I own. I got estimates, and Alicia's was lower. They did a great job of coordination with my renters, and I have had no problems since.

He asked questions about how the duct came into the room, then ordered me the materials I needed. I went by the shop and picked them up and everyone at the shop was cool. The parts went together just like he said and it came out great.

+ -1 moreDuring free gas company appliance service visit (new "older" home) it was discovered there was an air gap in the interior furnace closet which needed to be sealed. Also exterior AC units needed new conduit's. Alicia Air came out, told me I needed a $500.00 fan repair and never did get back to me an estimate for the work requested. I contacted them, job supervisor quoted an outrageous sum to seal air gap and replace conduit, did not use. Did use another company, good work and fair price. Sad experience as good friend who owns a commercial HVAC service in Huntington Beach suggested using Alicia Air (did not use friend as he is a friend and did not want to bother him in prime commercial HVAC emergency season).

+ -1 moreWe called for an estimate. Don came out and did a thorough job, including going into the attic to see the state of our duct work (other estimators, including Sears, didn't seem to care). No sales pressure, as Don works up an estimate back at the office and sends it via email. Nice. The installers did an efficient job. We stayed out of their way and they got us up and running in about six hours. Now we're chillin'.

+ -1 moreI had to have my air conditioner replaced. I found Alicia Air on the web. I called and made arrangements for Mike to visit my home and provide me an estimate. He faxed me an estimate: roughly over $7000. I agreed on the price and asked when it could be done. Mike said two days later and it would take about a day and a half. I again agreed. I gave them a credit card to charge. They came, did the job, and Mike called to say the job was done, and that it would cost me $500 less. Evidently, he had expected to change out some copper tubing, and he did not have to, so it saved me $500. I work, my wife is bed ridden we have a care taker. I never saw anyone from Alicia Air. They just came in, did a great job, left the operations manual and left. It was very easy and efficient.
