I googled: and quot;Dryer Vent Cleaning Lake Elsinoreand quot;, and found Southern California Dryer Vent Cleaning. I called and spoke to Andy O'Brien. Andy asked some few simple questions, that pertained to the symptoms I was experiencing, the design and location of my dryer vent. Andy said that he could have his technician, Bob, out later that day, so I booked a 3 pm appointment for that afternoon.
Bob came about 10 minutes early, before the 3:00 scheduled appointment and got right to work. Being the curious person that I am, I observed Bob every step of the way. Bob was very thorough. I could tell that he knew what he was doing, and was determined to get all of the lint out of my vent. And boy did Bob get the lint out. He had one of those big industrial vacuums, which he had to empty at one point. I bet he got about almost 15 gallons of lint.
The end result is, I am a happy camper. My dryer only takes a half hour, and I calculated that I am saving about $35/month on electricity alone (Canyon Lake is an all electirc community with obscenely high rates). Not to mention no longer waiting on the dryer, when doing multiple loads of laundry.
Bottom line: good service by nice people---a good find on Angie's list
to dry a load of clothes, he suggested I contact a local company to clean out
my dryer vent. To be honest, I was a bit skeptical at first as to how effective
a cleaning would be. I contacted Southern California Dryer Vent Cleaning
to schedule an appointment. A super nice guy (Andy) got right back to me
and spent a few minutes explaining the procedures and the benefits of regular
dryer vent cleaning (e.g., energy savings that I never really thought about).
I scheduled a service appointment for a Saturday morning and Andy arrived
on time. I shadowed him throughout the cleaning and he wasn't a bit
annoyed by all of my questions!
He started with a blowout and then brought out some of
his special gear to clear out the inside of the vent. Our washer and
dryer are on the second floor so Andy had to get on the roof to inspect the
vent. I was impressed that he offered to take off his shoes when he came
upstairs (we have new carpet).
After his first couple of runs Andy showed me the
results. I was absolutely shocked. There was a pile of lint over
12and quot; high that he had cleared out of our dryer duct. NO WONDER our
dryer was taking so long! When I first called he mentioned the fire
hazard dirty dryer ducts present, but I hadn't really taken it seriously over
the phone. After seeing the HUGE pile of junk he pulled out, I realized
that I probably need to do this annually.
So Cal Dryer Vent Cleaning was a good choice. Would
definitely recommend if you're questioning your dryer performance, energy bill
or you're concerned about fire hazards. Quick response time and clean,
professional service. Also, like many of the Angie's List contractors, he
was very responsive and transparent. Email communication was great too
which is always nice.
ADDITIONAL NOTE:
After writing this review I found out one of our
neighbors actually experienced a fire due to a clogged duct. Same floor
plan and model home too. And I had no idea all along. Glad I did this!
"Thank you [member name removed] for the review! It appears that all the homes in your development, have 2nd floor laundry rooms, with the dryer vent going up through the roof. These type of dryer vents require special attention, and should be cleaned out once per year."
