This review concerns the Lake Forest location of this company. I have been using them about a year with excellent results. Today, I took my dogs in at 9 am. When I didn't hear from them by 1:30, I had to go to another appointment. I checked my phone around 3 pm and discovered that I had missed their call at about the same time, 1:30. I arrived around 3:30 to pick up my dogs. The man at the front desk immediately began chastising me for being so late to pick them up. He said that they charge a $15 fee when owners don't come immediately to pick up their dogs. He said that they had called me at 12:30, which according to my phone was not accurate. He continued to berate me as I paid. In my own defense, I said that I had no idea they had this kind of policy, and that I had never gone to a groomer with such a policy. Instead of bringing my dogs out front as the groomers always do, he handed me the leashes and made me walk to the back where they have little pens for the dogs, and retrieve them myself. Why would a business person treat a customer like this? As I left, I said that I wouldn't be back, and all that got me was more verbal tongue-lashing. Don't use this groomer. Even though they do high-quality dog grooming, the undisclosed policies and lack of courtesy far outweigh the good. (By the way, in the end, he did not charge me the extra $15 for being "late" to pick up my dogs.)

We have been coming here quarterly since they opened and our boys love it. When we get out of the car and they realize where they are headed, they get so excited and I can't stop chuckling as their little tails almost wag off their backsides off! The staff is second to none. They remember our boys and their respective temperaments and sensitivities. (Jake is nervous of loud noises and E.W. doesn't like his paws fussed with) We specifically request their nails be filed, not clipped (due to an unfortunate experience they had elsewhere) and they do a great job each time. When we get them back they are happy, clean, and clipped! I sometimes think they know how cute they look when they are all clean because they have a little strut that only happens when we leave there.
We enjoy taking our pups there and will continue to do so. It does get expensive at times, but it is something we work into our budget because the quality is there. We also use their products at home when they are between appointments. The shampoo and conditioners are top quality and doesn't try their skin out like other products do.

My cat had been groomed before with this cut and was never a problem. However I no longer live in MN where he had been cut so this was the first time. When I came back at the time they suggested I was told he had been biting the groomers and that they had to take time outs to calm him down !!! That has never happened and my cat is a very docile friendly animal. It was another 2 hours until I could come back and he was done. So five hours total for a 2-3 hour job. My cat was a bundle of nerves and panting when I picked him up. Will not return.

Everyone I had contact with at the salon was very nice, very professional, and really wanted to do what I wanted for my dog. They were wonderful with her--and she looked GREAT when I picked her up! I will definitely use them on a regular basis!

The service was better even, than we expected. We were able to get her in the day after I called for an appointment. They were very thorough when we arrived, going over everthing they planned to do. She was a bit too matted for a and quot;comb outand quot;, so a close cut was recommended. She came out beautiful and happy. They gave her a perfect cut for her breed, and her coat was so soft. She has not been scratching since her and quot;beauty treatmentand quot; and seems very happy. We will continue go there for her grooming needs in the future.

My dogs are a bit weary of going to new places. They won't have to worry again. I found our new pet groomers. My two dogs were happy going in to the salon and happy and feeling great leaving the salon. Actually it took a while to get them out of there they felt like it was home. The groomers were all very nice and professional. They understood the demeanor of every dog is different and take that into account when approaching my dogs. Happy to recommend them and will certainly continue to take my fur kids there for grooming and their products. Forgot to mention my dogs love the quite a few of the treats they carry for purchase.

On my way back from San Diego, I was looking for a place to eat when I saw the name "John Paul" on a pet grooming store that got me curious enough to walk in. The store was very clean and organized and the personel were very knowledgeable and friendly. I was impressed enough to hand them my little Pomeranian. By the time I was done with lunch (just about an hour) she was washed and groomed. I even got to watch the last few minutes of the grooming. They have a seating area where you can watch. I can say for sure that this was the best she has ever looked. They used some kind of a john paul shampoo that keeps the shine for a long time and I was told that the shine would come back once I brushed her again. Sure enough it did. I only wish they would open a store near my home in Santa Monica. I posted a video on youtube showing the amount of attention Gizmo got the day after at the 3rd street Promenade. As soon as I walked my dogs through the door, I could tell this was not going to be an ordinary grooming experience. I felt the good vibes right away. From the super friendly and knowledgeable groomers, who knew everything about my breeds (taking great care to understand my wishes), to the spotlessly clean areas, modern equipment, warm atmosphere and free refreshments ... I knew right away that we were in for a special treat.
Now, my dogs have certainly had good cuts before, but I've always felt that 'special something' missing. After a day of pampering at Jon Paul Pet Salon, the 'experience' was so positive and so 'special' that I can't imagine taking them anywhere else again! We've all been completely spoiled!!!
First, our dogs have never looked better. I don't know what their 'secret sauce' is (maybe the double-wash, the quality Paul Mitchell products, the attention to detail) ... but what a transformation! I honestly didn't know they could look that good. It's now been about a month since their 'day at the salon,' and they look just as good, if not better.
Not only did they look amazing, but they were not at all stressed, which is highly unusual. In fact, they looked as though they would have been just as happy spending the rest of the day there, being pampered and fussed over. The entire staff was delightful and highly professional. The salon is immaculate and so cool (I was even able to sit in a special viewing area and watch them). The facility is high end, like my salon!
For around the same price as other 'groomers', my dogs came our looking refreshed, pampered and gorgeous! I will recommend John Paul Pet Salon wholeheartedly to all of my friends and family!
