We bought our house in 1995 and it came with carpet. Six years ago we had Jim and Jason Elliot install expensive exotic Brazilian Tiger Wood. They pulled up the carpet and found the concrete was like the rolling hills of Kentucky. They filled and leveled. Then they built a ramp-up that stretched 10 feet by 8 feet to ramp up to the to existing marble tile. Excelle
The cost of labor and materials very reasonable. The work they did was perfect with a capitol P. You can not tell the ramp-up exists.
4 yeas ago we asked them back to do the upstairs bedroom, sitting room and hallway. They did the three adjoining rooms all on the 45 degree with -0- error. The bedroom was formerly carpeted. Once the carpet and pad was up they had to pull up the plywood sub flooring, shave down three floor joists and put the plywood back down in order to have a flat, level floor. The floor is perfectly flat - even looking at it in the afternoon sun when it comes in at an angle. Same wood.
This year (2012) we did a bedroom. These guys came back and joined the new floor to the hallway wood. The joints are so good you can not tell the two floors were done in different years. This project posed a problem because, after the work was done there were four boards in the middle of the room that sounded and quot;hollowand quot; when you walked on them.
Jim made an appointment to look it over and said there was in fact a problem. He made another appointment to come back in 10 days. And he did. Jim and Jason spent three or so hours - and, I don't know how they did it - but they pulled up the four boards and reset them. You cannot tell which boards had be worked on. Another perfect installation.
Craftsmanship and honesty does not get better than this.
