My wife and I were looking to have our living/dining room decorated in our new home. We contacted LRM in March 2010, and first met with Lisa in April 2010 (after she cancelled her initial appointment). We initially asked her to design our space with a budget of 30K. She told us it might be tight, but could be done. We also discussed design our entrance foyer and powder room, and she suggested this could be done for an additional 5 to 8K. We agree to proceed with an expectation As the project progressed, it was clear that LRM did not know the meaning of budget. Three months into the project, we were presented with a plan with an estimated cost nearly 3x the initial budget. The estimated cost exceeded 75K. My wife and I were ready to cut the cord, and eat our retainer fee/design fee, but she promised she would edit the design to more closely meet our budget (She gets a cut of the cost of furniture right!) Nearly five months past the expected completion date, the space was done. The plans for a July 4th barbeque, Labor Day barqeque, and Thankgiving....all canceled because the project took a whopping 8 months. In the end, the living and dining space look great, but the entry way and powder room left much to be desired. We ended up with a smurf blue entry way (even after it was re-painted after we complained about the initial color) and a pumpkin blue powder room. She had to cut back some where, and it was obviously in taste. The final cost was 26K over the initial budget. And this is with her scaling back the design and editing out various other features to "meet our budget!" And along the way, we were treat like third class clients. We knew she had more glamous jobs designing high end spaces and jobs in exotic countries over seas, but we didn't expect to be treated like third class citizens. Her "project management" was more like fradulent billing. She actually billed us for phone calls we made to cancel fouled out appointments they scheduled! Itemized lists of services showed that phone calls that took minutes were billed at a rate of $75. That is an hourly rate more than high end lawyers! Two words of advise. STAY AWAY. Don't be fooled by her ASID accolates.
