VILLAGE PARK ANIMAL HOSPITAL

We are members of the Coachella Valley during the winter. Upon arriving around the end of Oct our beloved Copper was getting week and tired. We knew he had an enlarged heart so it was just a matter of time. We would not let him suffer any longer. Not having any loyalty to vets in the area I went on the reviews from various sites and called Village Park. After some time on the phone I was told they could see me at 1pm. Oct. 27th. I was told the total would be $250.00. Another with good reviews also was $350.00. We chose Village Park and made the very hard tearful journey. When we arrived we were told that someone would be out as we couldn't go in because of the Covid virus. Once everything was ready we would be brought in to be with our 11 year old beloved pet Copper to comfort him on his time has come to be pain free. While my wife and I are waiting in the car tears rolling down our face I received a call asking how I'm going to pay. The total was now $402.50. I explained when I called I was told it would be $250.00 total.. Her excuse was "Oh I'm sorry you were told the wrong amount" This is on Village Park's website as to how the Corona virus will affect our patients. "Our Doctors will examine your call you with recommendations and the room technician will call you to go over costs and to get your verbal approval before we start any treatment." They need to proof read their statement. Our doctors will examine your call??? They had already started the procedure by putting in the IV. I'm not about to come in and take him to someone else and prolong his suffering. They had me in a situation neither I nor my wife could or would want anyone else in. We were brought in to see our Copper finally be pain free while I held him. Once we received the call Copper's remains were ready to be picked up I drove over to pick him up and talked to Dr. Carlson about my unprofessional experience. Dr. Carlson said she would call me to discuss the experience I had. I never received a call from Dr. Carlson!!

The office seems to order many unnecssary tests and can be quite expensive. Catherine is a graduate of UC Davis and often has interns working with her. We had our toy breed in for a visit and the intern thought she heard a heart murmur and ordered several tests ot look for an enlarged heart that resulted in negative results. The tests were being used to screen for a proceedure that they wanted to do, and this ensured they did it safely. There were also separate occasions where I felt tests were run that were not necessary and ran our bill up.

Dr. Catherine Carlton is the vet I dealt with. She is very good and I would recommend her to others.

Our dog had cancer and they have a good doctor, Dr. Bradshaw. She is very complete with her examination and spends some good time with us and also follows up on the phone to see how the treatment is progressing and we really appreciate that. They interact with our pet very nicely, gives personal and the attendants are very good too. They are not the cheapest.

There was a misunderstanding about our bill but the owner, Kathryn Carlson personally called to straighten everything out.

I TRUST THEM. THEY ARE ALSO MY VETERINARIANS, AND I LOVE THEM. THEY LOVE MY DOG, AND THEY DO A GOOD JOB. THEY GIVE HIM WALKS EVERY DAY, AND HE HAS CONSTANT HUMAN COMPANIONSHIP.

THE VETERINARIAN THAT OWNS IT CARES ABOUT THE ANIMALS. THEIR OFFICE BUILDING IS DONE IN A OLD CALIFORNIA STYLE. ONE LADY GOT ON MY CASE BECAUSE MY DOGS NAILS WERE NOT TRIMMED. THEY HAVE A SENSE OF HUMOR.

I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH THE STAFF, AND THE PEOPLE THAT ASSISTED ME ON THE TELEPHONE. THEY WERE FRIENDLY, HELPFUL, AND DID EVERYTHING THEY COULD TO ASSIST ME. MY DOG WAS OVERDUE BY 3 DAYS ON A PARTICULAR SHOT, AND THEY RESOLVED THE ISSUE, AND HELPED ME PROMPTLY. WONDERFUL!
