I had a lot of damage to my home?s roof from the wind storm that hit the Pasadena area. My insurance company agreed to replace the entire roof, so I had 3 roofing contactor?s come bid the job. Adam from Rexway came to my house to bid the job. He was very professional, showed up on time, and got back to me with an estimate in a timely manner. He seemed very knowledgeable and appeared qualified to handle the job. I did however choose another contractor because his quote was about 10% more than my insurance company was willing to pay. The contractor I hired worked with the Insurance company directly to get the10% cost covered, and was even able to get a higher quality shingle with other upgrades. Overall Rexway was very good to deal with but at the end chose a roofer that worked better with insurance companies.

Very professional and punctual. They delivered everything as promised. They finished the job in one day. They knew rain was coming the next day so they hired additional work to complete in one day. They probably are not the cheapest hire but there are no hidden costs. I've already referred them to another homeowner.

The hight winds of November 30, 2011, in the Southern California area, lifted the flat roof half off the pool house. Rexway send out a person immediately upon our contact. He covered the exposed roof with plastic to protect against the rain and gave us, what seemed, a fair estimate. The damaged roof was removed in one day and replaced the second day. The work was done neatly. It was the kind of work one can expect from a reputable company.

I had contacted Rexway Roofing in order to receive an estimate for a new roof for my one story home. The owner's son Adam Martin spoke with me on the phone and was very professional and polite. On the day of the estimate Adam arrived on time and provided me with some background on his family's company. We walked around the property discussing repairs that would need to be done and the over all scope of the project. Adam was very helpful in offering suggestions and patiently answering my questions. I had needed a few fascia boards replaced due to dry rot. Some of these boards had wires tacked onto them due to Direct TV, Verizon and an Internet Provider. I asked if the wires could be removed by his team and then attached to the new boards. Adam assure me that this could be done and that his company typically encountered this kind of issue. I had made this request to another roofer and his response was "that we are roofers not electricians." This other company's estimator was also very unprofessional in general hence they were booted from the bid process. Rexway's price was middle of the road which is what I was looking for. Rexway estimated the completion of the job to be only two days. I really did not believe this as others quoted 4-5 days. True to their word the job was completed at the end of the second day. They definitely have their process down. A tear off crew will show up 15 minutes before 7:00AM. Be prepared for about 15 guys to descend onto your property. At about noon Adam showed up to check on the work and to meet with the city inspector. Everything was handled smoothly by Adam. At this time his roofing crew was on site and started to lay plywood behind the tear off crew. I was introduced to the foreman Don and was provided with a play by play of what would be happening. In summary the roof looks great and I am very pleased with Rexway. There was only two issues that arose during the project. The first is a fascia board was incorrectly replaced as there was a gap between it and the adjoining board. Adam inspected it and made sure to have the problem corrected the day it was noticed. The other is that my down spout was accidentally crushed. Adam took the damaged spout and provided me with a new one in return. If you want to have a roofing company that is professional, polite and very experienced I would highly recommend Rexway. The entire process was a pleasure to experience and I can now see why many have rated Rexway so highly.

I wasn't home when the job was being done but my wife said she felt very comfortable with the people that were sent and one of the owners Dean even stopped by 30 minutes after his crew left to check in on us. I thought that was a great touch. If I every have roofing work needed in the future, I will definitely call these guys first.
Description of Work: I hired these guys to replace aging ridgecaps on my roof (2 story home). They tore out the old ridgecaps and installed around 250sq ft of new ones. The new ridgecaps look great and more importantly I don't have ridgecaps pieces falling from my roof anymore!! The job took about half a day and the crew cleaned up everything before they left.

We told them that we didn't believe we needed a new roof, but that we wanted some shingles replaced that had been blown away by wind. Adam came out and looked at the roof and verified it could be repaired. He said it was a minor repair and that he would be out the next morning and be done in no time. He came out on time. He was a really nice guy, seemed to have a lot of integrity, and he matched the shingles perfectly. There is no sign of any damage.

They took pictures and explained the entire process thoroughly. I thought in that manner they were very professional. They even left a brochure with further information. They promised to send a detailed cost analysis but they have not. I called them to follow up and they stated someone would contact me soon. I have yet to receive a call. If the job is too small, I would expect this company to say they could not perform the work. I am very dissatisfied.

My first contact with this company occurred shortly before Christmas and was with Adam, the owner's son. He came promptly at the agreed upon time to inspect my roof a few days after my first call. His presentation was very professional and complete, and he provided me with an impressive packet of materials that included information about the type of shingles they use, a list of jobs they had completed in the past year, information about their rating with the Better Business Bureau, a copy of their license and verification of Workers' Comp insurance. Adam agreed to send me estimates by email within a few days. The estimate to replace the roof was not as detailed as the estimate for repair. I contacted the company to indicate my desire to have them do the work but requested a more detailed estimate for the new roof. Adam agreed to provide and said that it would take into account the coupon for Angie's list members. . On 1/3/12 I signed the agreement to begin work and faxed it to Rexway with a request that he call me to confirm start date for work to begin. The next day I called to confirm that fax had been received and was told that everything was a go, and that he would call me with the start date. However, a few days later Adam called me to say that due to the increase in their worker's comp insurance, they would need to increase the cost of my job which nullified the coupon savings. After I contacted the state contractors' licensing board and confirmed that this was not an acceptable practice, I notified the company in writing that I was voiding the earlier agreement and would not be using their company. Although they gave a great presentation, initially came in with the lowest bid, and promised to get the roof replaced in half the time quoted by other companies, I did not choose them because after I signed an agreement for them to do the work they called me and raised the price of job.
Description of Work: My home lost half the shingles off the roof due to severe wind damage. I contacted this company to get an estimate for a repair and/or replacement of the roof. I was also interested in gutter replacement but they said they could refer out for this service .

Dean gave me his estimate on Nov 9, 2011. He told me then that they were very busy and I would be on the schedule for sometime in Dec. My main concern was stopping the leak ASAP. He said if I hired them, they would put plastic tarp over the roof to keep it from leaking until they could reroof my house. I signed the written estimate, faxed it to them and they came out and put the plastic up on Nov 17, 2011. That's when I met Don, Rexway's foreman. I liked him very much. The plastic was put up very neatly and nailed so it wouldn't blow off. They started the on Dec 15, 2011 at 7am. Don was concerned about dust falling from the tongue and groove ceiling. It's our living/family room and I had no idea how much black dust and pieces could sift through. He made sure that the area was completely covered with clean tarps. They even had to buy several more to completely cover everything. Cleanup was minimal. Thank you Don! The tear off was done quickly and they cleanup was taken care of too. At one time I had 10 workers at the house. All nails were picked up by the rolling magnet by one of the workers canvassing the area around the house. Don was always available for my questions and concerns. I took lots of pictures for my scrapbook too. Then we waited for the City inspector who was scheduled for an inspection between 10 and 11 am. Dean and Don were on top of it. Once the inspector finally arrived at 2 pm the workers and Don went into high gear. The weather all week, and that day did not call for rain, but you only had to look at the sky to know it was going to rain. They got the black paper down and partially roofed some areas before the rain hit. Luckily it only lasted about 20 mins. I have to tell you, Don and Dean were so very concerned and upset at the situation and they worked so hard to make sure I was reassured that my roof and house was going to be ok and not water logged that I was not worried at all. I usually am about those things but I knew that they would take care of anything that happened and that they made sure my house was protected. And it was! The next day the roofing continued and was finished by 2 pm. The day was clear and dry. The roof dried out and they were able to have it finished quickly. Dean came by and gave me the releases and a paid in full receipt and we were done. Everything was cleaned up. Other than a brand new beautiful roof, you would never know they had been there. Dean also made sure I know that if anything comes up, that I should call him. Just a couple of notes. The roof tearoff truck was very heavy and it's weight caused one of my irregation pipes to crack. Don took care of it once we discovered it . The other item was our Direct TV dish. It's removal and replacement on the roof caused it to be out of alignment. Not the roofers fault at all. But if I had known, I would have scheduled an appt with Direct TV to have them reinstall the dish. We were out of TV for the weekend and missed movies and football that we were looking forwart to seeing. Just one of those items to put on your check list.
Description of Work: I cannot stress how PLEASED I am with this company! My roof is beautiful and waterproof. Such an improvement over the previous one. I first met Dean, the owner of Rexway, when he came to give me an estimate to either repair a leak or reroof. Our leak was where the low-slop front porch roof met the house roof and I knew we needed to replace the whole roof, but I wanted to hear what the contractors would say. It was a small slow leak that had be going on for some time before it became noticable. The roof was 17 yrs old, the shingles are no longer available and the leak was at the front of the house. A repair would be very noticable since three sides of the front roof would be affected. Dean was very professional and knowledgable. He got on the roof and inspected the problem. He immediately identified why the leak was happening. When he came in to talk, he presented me with a folder of his information (List of installations in my area, a copy of the CA State Contractors License certificate, a copy of the Worker's Compensation Insurance certificate, and a copy of the Better Business Bureau rating) He addressed all my concerns and issues and came up with others I didn't know to ask about. His roofing estimate for the house and separate garage included, removal of all roofing material, all new vent pipes, dormer vents, drip edge, flashings and painted to match the roof - we had old whirly gigs that stuck up and didn't even work. He also included 300 feet of wood to replace old or rotten wood and the city permit. I have a 10 yr labor warranty, 30 yr materials warranty and 12 yr warranty on flat work. (That's good!) We also talked about the 1960's addition to the house that has no attic. It's 2" tongue and groove wood that is our ceiling on the inside and the roof deck on the outside. He included a new product that provides a reflective heat shield to help with the summer heat. He also stated this was a 2 day installation. I was so impressed with how he treated me - as an intelligent woman - (you would be suprised at how many try to tell you want you want, don't take the time to address your specific issues or want to talk to your husband) and he addressed all the items that I was looking for a contractor to address without me having to ask about. Two other companies gave me estimates and I had two more lined up the following week but I found the company I wanted to take care of my roof. That's how I feel. They took CARE of my house.

Our home was built in 2001 and has its original roof - a spanish tile roof. We had a roofing leak which had begun discoloring the living room ceiling. I called Rexway and Adam arrived promptly. He inspected the roof and found the likely cause of the leak - a couple of tiles had become dislodged and shifted slightly. Adam put the tiles back place in place and secured them with sealant/adhensive. That was 3 weeks ago and we've had several storms since. The leak was completely resolved. Rexway charged $0 for the repair. We had used Rexway in the past to replace a roof at a different home. That was an equally excellent experience.

This was an involved engagement so I'll tell the entire story and you can make your own decision. We had 3 estimates done. One by LaRoque, one by Royal, and Rexway. We have a flat-roof home, and interestingly, every company proposed a completely different approach. We ended up going with Rexway for two reasons: first, they were the cheapest. Second, they were able to bundle together the roof work plus the replacement of posts that hold up a 10' deep x ~30 foot wide section of roof over the patio. Both of the other companies said I would have to get that work done through another firm, and I didn't want the extra hassle (but I ended up with extra hassle anyways, as you'll see). We were interested in doing the job as hassle-free and inexpensively as possible because we were in the midst of moving out and were planning to sell or lease the house. The method Rexway used involves laying down large sheets of roofing material and then sealing the joints with a blowtorch. It is referred to as a "cold" method because there is no hot-mopping of molten asphalt onto the roof. The problem with our roof is that it has two fairly large depressions in it over the garage and family room. The one over the family room had leaked in the past, but had been repaired. Anyhow, Rexway did the job in August and everything was fine. However, after the first rain in October, I went to the house about 10 days later (we had since moved out) and found that a 2' x 3' section of ceiling in the family room was now on my carpet. When we had a leak many years earlier in the past it had not brought down the ceiling, so this was an unpleasant surprise. I called Adam and he immediately arranged to have someone go check it out. Upon arriving there, they saw that one of the seams on the roof had pulled up, so they repaired the seam. Adam then arranged to have a handyman who does work for him go to fix the ceiling. I actually warned Adam that I thought it would be a good idea to either run a hose up on the roof or wait for the next rain, but he was confident the problem was fixed and so forged ahead with the ceiling repair. This ended up not being a good decision on his part, unfortunately. The handyman was doing the repair in two stages, but after the first stage it rained. I went out two days later, and it was clear that there was still a leak (although gratefully the ceiling did not come down). I called Adam and he immediately arranged to come out and look at it himself. He concluded that trying to simply repair the leak was almost hopeless because the pool of water that collects over the family room is so huge that he was concerned that the leak could be coming from anywhere (which matches what other people have told me). His solution was to install a drain. This I think was a good idea. Arguably it should have been part of the original plan (although none of the 3 companies proposed this, even though I or my wife emphasized while they were preparing estimates that this was an area of particular concern to us). The drain was installed and looks great. we were not charged extra for this, even though Adam estimated that it cost ~$800 to tear up the area, install the drain and piping, and repair all the seams. Adam then sent out his handyman again to fix up the ceiling. This turned out to be a disaster. The repair job was very poorly done - it was completely obvious that it was a patch-up job. Plus, the guy who did the repair grabbed a can of paint that I had left in the room when I had painted the wall in the attached kitchen, and he used it on the ceiling. Problem is, it was every so slightly off-white and it was semi-gloss whereas the ceiling is flat white. Moreover, it said right on the can in bold black Sharpie that it was for the kitchen walls, and the label stating "Semi-Gloss" was clearly visible. I was livid. I kind of lost my cool and left a testy voicemail for Adam. He called back and said he would go out to look at it and then call me back. Thankfully, he agreed that it was a terrible job. He immediately sent out an honest-to-goodness professional drywall/plaster worker, and they did a fantastic job. It is impossible to tell that there was a repair. I was not charged for this. They also cleaned the carpet from staining that occurred when the ceiling fell on it. The cleaning job wasn't all that good but I told Adam not to worry about it because I have a steam cleaner and I'll do it myself. So, the negative is that it took quite awhile to get the situation sorted out, and it would have been quite an inconvenience if I was living there. On the other hand, Adam was always very responsive and very calm and professional. I do fault him for skimping on the first roof and ceiling repairs, but when that didn't work well in either case, he made sure he got it right the second time. On balance, I might have gone with a hot-mop job if I had to do it all over again. The bottom line is that flat roofs are very challenging. Our neighbors had their roof done years ago and had similar problems, so what we went through is not unique. In the final analysis I am satisfied with Rexway's job, although I wish it hadn't turned out to be such a complicated affair.
Description of Work: Re-roof house with flat roof. Install new support posts to hold up section of roof over patio. After initial job was done, fixed ceiling where leak caused damage. installed drain in ceiling.
They completed the job in 3 days and I chose them because they made me feel very comfortable. They were very competent, very professional and very charismatic. I have their cards and details, so that if anybody asks me, they have a recommendation, straight away, because I usually don’t recommend. They did fine and it’s very seldom that I like a contractor. They also recommended someone who does gutters, but they were not on Angies List. The head carpenter had 4 workers and that man was doing compound cuttings with a handsaw. I have worked on my house and done compound cuttings, but not with a handsaw. This guy was talking to me and ripping boards at the same time and I looked at him, wondering what he was doing. When he was putting it together, everything seemed like they were meant to be together. This man was amazing and told that he was doing it for 40 years and by now he should know his job. Infact, he knew what he was doing and he went around and completed the job, with the cuttings, in half a day’s time and then left. His helpers there just laid a few things with less carpentry work for them. He was telling me stories and ripping the boards at the same time. I thought he would cut his finger or make a mistake, but nothing as such happened. When the gutter person came, he asked if so and so person did the job, I said yes and he mentioned that it’s very nice to do the gutters after he has done the job, because he didn’t have to do much and he was all praises for him. He liked him and so did I like him. He did replace some boards also and asked me for some paint and painted the boards which needed to be, whereas, I thought I had to do it all. There was a lot of repair and painting to be done which he did and I had to do only a little touch up work. I will definitely use him in future.
Description of Work: I used the services of Rexway Roofing Inc. for roofing and to replace boards, in September, 2011.

One word review: WOW. I found Rexway after interviewing just about every well-rated roofing contractor who works in the San Gabriel Valley. Seriously, I feel like I talked to everyone. And every roofer had different opinions about what I should do. I wanted the best roof I could put on my house without breaking my budget and I wanted to find a roofer I could trust to stand behind their work. Rexway was the last roofer I spoke to and without question they blew everyone else out of the water. They brought me lists of roofs they'd done recently, they walked through the whole process, they told me how many roofers would be working on our project. They said they'd leave my garden clean1 They provided a TEN year warranty, not 5 like everyone else. I checked out their reviews and better business rating and they were clean as a whistle so I talked it over with my husband and we agreed they were the best we'd seen, by a mile. We set up a roofing date for a month later. The demo day arrived and at 7:30 am they had an army of workers on our roof! They had two layers of roofing removed in a couple of hours. By noon they were installed plywood, by the end of the day we had sign-off on the sheathing and they were installing shingle. By the end of the second day, they were hosing down our driveway and we were done. The roof looks beautiful and it all seems to be perfect. With the recent rains we have one small issue with the back gutters not working properly but I know Rexway will work with me to get that right. I feel completely secure knowing if anything goes wrong with my roof I have the best, most competent and nicest roofers in the world who will come back and make it right. So glad we chose Rexway, there is no one else close in the local roofing market and I should know - I've spoken to them all!
Description of Work: Removed two layer of roofing - one asphalt shingle, one wood shingle. installed OSB plywood sheathing. Installed high-quality asphalt shingle with synthetic underlayment. Installed torch-down roofing on flat portion of roof. Additional torch-down around solar mounts once installed.

I called Rexway Roofing to provide an estimate for a leak in my roof. After a little bit of phone tag, Adam Martin came to my home to provide an estimate of the work. He was extremely professional. provided me with a folder of their business license, testimonials and work specifications. I have a two story house and he did not have the right ladder so he indicated he would be back with the next day. Adam called me the next day to inform me that I had a slipped tile and that he went ahead and fixed it. He didn not charge me anything. I appreciate his service and his professionalism. I would definitely use them again!!!

Work unable to be completed on my 2-story home roof.
Description of Work: I called to have someone come and give me an estimate, and after being pushed back 2 days, finally had an estimator show up at my door. He took one look at my roof, and said that his company "does not work on a steep roof." After having done a lot of research on Angie's List, and chosen them for their supposed great service, I was VERY disappointed. Details like this need to be noted on the company description. After waiting for almost a week, it's back to square one because of lack of good information.

I'd like to start off with: I had no idea how to go about selecting a roofer. Being relatively new to the area, and really, how many roofs does one install in a life time? I asked my neighbors, and as it turned out the two that put new roofs on, one that was referred was no longer in business and the other did like enough to be a reference, so I turned to Angie's List. I called three from the list, one didn't respond and the two estimates I got were within dollars of each other. That being said, I went with the contractor I felt most comfortable with, and I'm so glad I did!!! Dean, the owner of Rexway, came out with one of his sons to do the estimate. Both were very knowledgeable, and seemed very capable, but that was to be expected since they came so highly recommended by Angie's List. What impressed me most was the fact Rexway is a family owned and run company. They take genuine pride in their business. Dean explained everything to me, in a way that was easy for a non-roofer to understand, gave me a breakdown not only of cost, but how the job would be done in the order of tasks performed, from tear-off to final clean-up and would take three days. We set a date for a month in advance. Dean called two days before the start date, to confirm... that was impressive when you consider how difficult it is to get in touch with a contractor once you've signed the contract! The roofing team arrived right on time Monday morning. The tear-off went so quickly, I was amazed... there was a small army of workers, which I wasn't expecting, but they got that part of the job done before noon! The project manager was fantastic!! He'd been with Rexway for over 20 years, and that says a lot! He was very dog friendly, (with my two dogs running around made it nice!), and when it came to deciding where to place the skylight in the master bedroom, he was great... he made excellent suggestions of size, placement and number. Because he'd was so experienced, he was able to suggest things I hadn't thought of. He didn't try to sell me more than I needed, nor at any time make me feel foolish for asking so many questions. With his advice and patience, I felt very confident when I made the final decision regarding the skylight. And now I'm so happy with it!! All the work was completed on time, and turned out better than I'd hoped for. The clean-up was phenomenal and the roof looks amazing!! I would highly recommend Rexway Roofing to anyone!!
Description of Work: We had a new roof installed with one sky light put in the master bedroom.

They were on Angie's List. Overall, the job went great. They did great work. When I got hold of them, they told me right away that there was a delay in getting to them. They kept me informed and they were very nice. They came in, did the job and cleaned up everything afterwards. I would recommend everything about them to my friends and family members. Their price was better than anybody else. I would absolutely use them again in the future. It was a relief as I was worried about being ripped off and they were great. I wish that I could find more people like that.
Description of Work: I used Rexway Roofing Incorporated in the end of July 2011 for our roof repair. It also included replacing wood and fascia around the roof.

Rexway Roofing, Inc. was very professional, responsive, timely and did a great job. They were prompt at meetings and always returned our telephone calls in a timely manner. Our contact Adam, was very courteous and knowledgable. At our first meeting, Adam explained the process in terms we could understand, answered all our questions, gave us a list of references, roofing materials to choose from, along with estimated cost and any possible contingency costs, i.e. replacement wood. Their cost was not the lowest and was not the highest. We felt comfortable with Rexway Roofing, Inc. from our initial meeting. They started the job on time, finished on time and met their commitment. . Their employees were courteous and left our property clean of roofing material, i.e. nails. Rexway Roofing, Inc. did a great job for us and we would highly recommend them to our family and friends.

It was a very pleasant experience from start to end. I called Adam around 4/28 to ask for an estimate, he worked around my schedule and came out the next day. He was prompt, courteous, and very professional. He brought shingle samples, copies of his license, and listings of the other homes that they had done. He provided an estimate which was competitive by the end of the 30mins he spent at my house. After looking at other bids and company, we decided to go with Rexway mostly because of Adam's professionalism. He explained everything and was good to his word. He called when he said he would, his crew came and finished in the timeline he proposed, and they have been very responsive to our concerns now that everything is completed. Our house looks clean, the roof looks great, now we just need to wait until the next rain season to let you all know if the roofing work holds up! Thanks for your good work, Rexway!
Description of Work: We had the entire house re-roofed
