Could not have had a better experience. Initial estimate provided with a full explanation. Linkage and cabling damaged in a collision. Parts ordered and installed properly. Vehicle tested and delivered back to me with a car wash completed. Prompt, professional, clean and friendly atmosphere.

Correctly diagnosed starter problem. Did not charge for diagnosis since job was done. No charge for labor to replace air cleaner. Friendly service. Car starts properly now. Would recommend.

Everything went better than expected. (I did have a blown transmission, after all!) No complaints. I would recommend anyone go to Summit to have their transmission work done.

Excellent. I left the car there and caught a Lyft to my daughter's house. After playing with my grandson for about an hour we all went out to lunch in their car. After lunch they dropped me off back at Summit Transmissions. Honest, competent and fair priced. What more could one ask for from a mechanic?

Most shops want to change out a transmission instead of repairing it, necessitating a huge expense. Summit carefully and knowledgeably diagnosed the problem(s) and were able to repair it for about half the cost of other shops. staff and owner were courteous and attentive, The car now runs better than at any time that I've had it. Owner assisted me after purchase with no-interest financing with a bank, straightening out some confusion. I highly recommend this shop.

Two years ago I came in here for transmission service and my truck has run great ever since. Recently, it started feeling a little laggy on acceleration, so when my next oil change was due, I brought it back to Summit for both operations. Jerry called about an hour after I dropped the truck off and walked me through the various issues they'd found and their recommended fixes. Never did I feel pushed into a repair I didn't need and at the end, my truck runs better than it has the entire time I've owned it!

They are very friendly and they are very honest, it didn't take long to diagnose the problem, and they fixed and test drove the car to make the problem was resolved. I am very pleased with the results. I would recommend Summit Transmissions to anyone.

Jerry put his team right to work, and even though it was not a simple installation;

(new computer and transmission control software installed also)

Jerry would not stop until the job was 100% RIGHT.

I also got a better warranty than the Honda dealer would provide. 

Jerry is a business owner that genuinely cares about EVERY customer and EVERY job that he takes on.

I brought the car in and was greeted very friendly and was told I would be helped shortly. When I was helped I described what was going on with the car. The owner called and apologized for not getting to my car sooner and he was checking it out now. They called the next day and could not find anything wrong with the transmission but made some recommendations for other repairs that were needed on my car. When I picked the car up It was explained to me very clearly what I should be looking for the next time I had a problem with the transmission and was given a note pad to write down the problems. I was very please by the whole experience and will gladly use them again.

Independently owned and operated since 1992.  Husband and wife both there, polite and personable.  There were many letters of appreciation on the walls of the waiting area.  Work was started and completed in the time period specified.   Transmission work is their primary service but they are expanding to do more general mechanical work as well.  I would expect them to be a good choice for this also.

It did not go well. But let me explain.  My car had a very intermittent transmission problem.  which turned out to be a very difficult problem to repair. I had first taken my car to the dealer.  who charged me $100.00 dollars just to look at the issue.  They came back with wanting to replace parts but advised me that they had no way of knowing if the parts would fix my issue or not and the cost they were giving me was well over $3000.00.  So I said forget that.  I went on line and found summitt transmission and like what I read in all of his reviews.    I have to say I do not think that anyone would of put in the time and effort and stuck with it from start to finish as Jerry did.  What a stand up guy.  He stuck with it and did get the issue resolved.  I know that there is no way that he made any money off of me on this repair job.  He had countless hours of tracing wires and testing the wiring harness inside the transmission.  the total cost of my repair was just over $1000.00 dollars.   I was off work for a while so we did not need my car.  But when I had a family emergency come up and I had to drive up to Oregon to see my father and my car was still not ready Jerry got me a rental car for the time I needed.  On his dime.  NO ONE WOULD OF DONE THIS.   I can not say enough about Jerry and Summit transmissions. .No one would of put in the time and effort that waa required to find this issue.  I know with the dealer this would of cost me well over the 3 grand of there quote.  If you are having transmission problems there is no other place I would take my car than to him.   Stand up guy, He was more than fair very understanding of my problems and worked with me at every step of the repair.

Jerry told me everything that was wrong with the transmission. He told me the transmission only has 2 gears 1st and 3rd.  He told me the price it would cost to much to fix the car for what it was worth.  He even offer to me help me with other option for another car.

We brought our 2001 Ford F150 pickup to see if they could figure out what was wrong with it.  It had been lurching and slipping and having all sorts of issues over the last couple of months.  I was one of the first appointments of the day and I was greeted at the counter by the owner, Jerry.  He was very friendly and easy to talk to.  He had me describe what the symptoms were and asked a number of clarifying questions.  (I don't speak "mechanic" very well.)  Then he took the truck for a test drive - with me as a passenger.  It was great being able to point out exactly what was wrong with it while it was happening.
When we got back to the shop, Jerry said that he had a guess what was causing the problem and that he'd know in about an hour if he was correct.  I decided to wait in their reception area and, sure enough, about an hour later Jerry called me out to the garage so he could show me what was wrong.  He explained that there was a leak in one of the seals.   He explained that if replacing the seal was all that was wrong then it would cost about $850.  If they opened it up and found that there was additional damaged caused by the leak that the price would, of course, be higher to fix it.  I was so impressed with Jerry's customer service that I told him to go ahead and fix her.  (Originally I was going to call around to get other estimates.)  The next day they called me to let me know that the truck was done and I went in to pick it up.
Jerry explained the work that he had done and I paid for the repairs.  It came to $855.  He suggested that I bring the truck back in about a year for a check-up, as the truck is now 12 years old.  I told him that we'd be coming back to Summit for sure for that service.  Jerry was professional, courteous and explained things in a manner that made sense.  I would recommend Summit to anyone.

4000Jerry (the owner) of Summit Transmissions started things off with an invite to his shop to meet him and see his facilities. Once there, I was welcomed and shown why he is the best place to go to for vehicle transmission work. Not only does he have accreditation from the Better Business Bureau of San Diego, but he has received numerous Awards of Excellence in service from a few other sources that may be found online.

His shop was filled to capacity; his employees were hard at work and I recommend anyone using his business phone ahead and schedule an appointment. He explained that he couldn't give a generic quote (like many other businesses that day did) because he deals in the specific needs of the vehicles he services. He assured me that once the transmission was opened up and he could visually see what the problems were that he would contact me to advise me of the situation. Once my vehicle was dropped off (at my scheduled appointment time), it took mere hours before I heard back from Jerry and learned specifically what the needed repairs would need to be and exactly how much I could be facing to pay. He was given the green light to proceed and work went ahead. During the time of his work on my vehicle, he found a couple of other things that were directly related with the transmission work being done and he contacted me to get approval for the additional parts (no additional labor fees were needed as the work had already been part of the transmission work to begin with). He received my approval and he quickly set about to make those additional repairs.

When I went to pick up my truck, he went over everything that had been done to the transmission, advised me to exercise the four-wheel drive switch on the dashboard (apparently the transfer case solenoid on that particular model of truck tends to get a little "sticky" sometimes) and then offered me a free car wash coupon.

I had expected to pay at least $2000.00 or more for the transmission job (as I had received this price range when I had called all of the other transmission shops listed on Angie's List first) but was pleasantly surprised to have paid almost 36% less for everything...and the truck drives so much better now.
