"Thank You for trusting us with your home [member name removed]! We really appreciate you taking the time to review us here on Angie's List as well. The highest compliment we can receive is the referral of friends and family. It was a pleasure to remodel your kitchen and to get to know you and your family personally as contractors. Please let us know if there is anything else that we can do for you in the future. Sincerely, Craig Pykles"
While, Mr. pykles will, try to make me out as the problem consumer, the fact of the matter is that we ending up filing with the BBB, CSLB and reporting him to his bonding agency. The BBB claim (pykles is not BBB accredited) was closed as having no resolution provided by the Company. The CSLB inspector's report had the estimated repair cost of the bathroom that Pykles had done at over $14000 ($2000 less than what we had paid) and their own bond company awarded me their bond in it's entirety. I also took them to small claims. We won the case , but since we were able to find a contractor who was able to do the re remodel for roughly the price of the bond, we were awarded a no cash judgement. There's no such thing as pain and suffering in small claims.
This whole process from start to finish, including all the legal steps took over a year.
If you want all the gory details feel free to look for my review with a web search of this company.
Update:
I had extensive dialogues with Craig Pykles until he became totally unresponsive. We did let them try to correct the issues with the slab and with the sink for a total of five times. I also asked Mr. Pykles directly to inspect the job for any other issues. This was never done.
I hired a different contractor to inspect the work and until that inspection had no idea how bad it really was.
It became very apparent that Mr Pykles had no concern about the quality of the work, or any impact that this whole experience had on my family. It was only after my inspection and the threat of losing his bond that any offer was made to do the repairs. By this time, I had absolutely no confidence in them to do the repairs.
Again, while I'm sure Mr. Pykles will paint me as a "problem client" I can only point out the duration of the ordeal, the report from the CSLB, the revoked bond and my own personal experience. You draw your own conclusions.
The lack of professional ethics and this sense of entitlement that was shown will always be a mystery to me. I can only hope that my review will motivate this company to a higher standard.
"At Pykles we care about keeping our customers completely satisfied throughout each project. We have been in business since 1952, always maintaining an exceptional reputation in customer care. This was a very isolated case involving one specific sales person of which we no longer employ at Pykles. Additional measures have been taken to ensure we continue the highest quality and personal satisfaction with all of our customers. In this specific project we made every attempt to rectify the situation, unfortunately we were denied opportunities to make any changes. Rest assured, this project is not indicative of the work ethics, quality, and care that we stand for. For any further concerns, please feel free to contact me directly. Sincerely, Craig Pykles Owner"
Pykles was amiable to our "oh, by the way" changes and was always able to accommodate our wishes.
We?ve just joined Angie?s List, hence the late submission. Since our remodel, Pykles has been our ?go to? plumber. We have hired them to a variety of work, from opening clogged drains to installing a water heater with new vent. We have been completely satisified
"I just saw your posting on Angie's list. Thank you again for your confidence and business through the years. I hope all is well with you and your wife and that you are enjoying the results of our work. Sincerely; Craig Pykles"
"THANK YOU FOR THE GOOD REPORT. WE APPRECIATE YOUR BUSINESS. CRAIG PYKLES"
