The service was excellent, professional and the gentleman explained what he was going to do and what I could expect from the finished service. I took an assortment of scissors and kitchen knives. He called me when they were ready to be picked up and each was individually wrapped, the points of each item slipped into a hand made protector for safety. Yes excellent service.

Greg's Sharpening and Cutlery Service is a small family owned shop in downtown La Mesa. I had a Craftsman hedge trimmer with very dull dirty blades. Greg disassembled the hedge trimmer, soaked the blades overnight and then got them good and sharp. For $25. I also had him sharpen 7 of our kitchen knives (6 regular and one serrated). these he made so sharp he had to warn me about getting cut. Overall, the shop does a great job and they are very fast. They also offer a frequent customer discount punch card.

Greg did a wonderful job. The timing was fast, and the quality was excellent. I have now used his service twice, and will go there again for any sharpening needs.

Very professional and cordial. Explained the services provided and had it all done by the next day. All tools work so much better now - not just sharper, but the gardening tools open and close smoothly.

I first happened to see and quot;Greg's Sharpening and Cutlery Serviceand quot; in La Mesa City Center while I was across the street on a pizza run. I dropped in while waiting on the pizza and checked the shop out.
I have wanted to find a competent blade sharpener for years and after a discussion with him I decided to bring in a couple of knives that sat in a drawer for years; too valuable to throw away but too important to turn over to just anyone with a file and grindstone. The results were excellent, the atmosphere was pleasant and welcoming and the prices were suprisingly modest compared to what I had been charged by other sharpeners.
Greg is a conciensious craftsman and has made me very happy with every thing I have brought to him; kitchen knives, utility
knives, scissors, power saw blades, a WWII Navy K-bar and machete, etc.. The machete is so sharp I am a little afraid to use it in the
garden for subduing vagrant bushes and trees.
Greg offers superb service for a reasonable, even modest, price. I never have to consider the cost when I need to have something sharpened.

I was anticipating a hefty bill given the number of knives I brought in to be sharpened. I honestly quite surprised that it only came to $56.
Greg was professional, efficient, and just very good! He told me when when the knives would likely be finished (the next day), and then he called me in the morning to let me know that the knives were indeed completed. Each knife came back carefully wrapped in newspaper and taped. He kept the box I delivered the knives in so that I had something in wihich to transport them back home. AND, they are indeed VERY sharp!!! (I have a nice slice on my index finger at the moment as proof, although Greg did warn me to be careful.)
I would use Greg's service again. In fact, last week, I took three pairs of kitchen scissors in to be sharpened. I haven't picked them up yet, but I expect that they will be as nicely sharpened as the knives Greg did for me the week before.

Brought them in on a Saturday, they were ready on Tuesday. The blades all have new - not just honed - edges. I've tried other sharpening services (i.e. Michaels or at a grocery store) and Greg's exceeds the others. There's not much to the shop unless you're a knife aficionado, but the service sharpening service is outstanding.

They did an excellent job. I brought in my German knives to have them sharpened and I was very pleased with their service. They sharpened the full set of kitchen knives.
