We wish we had taken the money directly from our insurance company and handled the subcontracting ourselves. At the time, it seemed a better use of our time to let Servpro handle everything, but this turned out to be a huge mistake. The person serving as project manager, David, was very solicitous at first, reassuring us that everything would be restored to our specifications, and within what sounded to be a reasonable timeframe. As soon as our insurance company cut the check for ~$25,000 to Servpro, all niceties stopped, and David was suddenly no longer the project manager, nor easily accessible. The work eventually got done -- in APRIL, after having started in JANUARY -- but it took a tremendous amount of our constantly demanding to re-do inadequate work, and resistance on the part of David et al to take responsibility for obviously shoddy work. We do want to point out, however, that the flooring people they brought in to lay our tile did an impressive job. We would encourage anyone faced with using Servpro to make a different decision, either a different company altogether to do the restoration, or undertake the subcontracting yourselves - you will still come out ahead with this choice. Servpro was simply terrible to work with.
