It was a total rip off company. I hated them and I knew what they getting away with. They gave me a bid, which was four times the value and told me that if I bought it within five days, they would give it to me for twice the value. So, they were telling me that I would get 50% discount. Either way, it was a rip- off. They were persistent in contacting me over and over again. I would like the others to know that they use unethical sales techniques to trick people into buying products at grossly inflated prices. They will offer half-price deals if the product is bought immediately and still, they will be overpriced. I will never use them again.
Description of Work: I got a quote from Nu-Energy Solutions by Nu-Cote for solar panels. They also sell windows and other things.

Look good but with the first rain big time leak in kitchen. Bad install.
Description of Work: Roof replaced complete. Looked good, the install look good, leaked big time around the kitchen vent. Called reported leak, inspector discovered a number of bad installation problems. Took three days to repair, replaced all vent caps, underlayment installed upside down. I would not use their service again.

I never had them do any work. They gave me a bid couple of months ago. I thought the cost was excessively high and they were a little pushy.

I had so many problems and such an unpleasant experience, I would not recommend this company under any circumstances. In a nutshell, they didn't show up on time, then showed up without my knowing and wandered around my property, painted some of the wrong colors on my house (they were supposed to match the existing colors and paint a swatch to make sure the colors matched, which they said they'd do and then refused), took some of the paint cans with left over paint that I had purchased, painted some of the exterior ground in my garden which they didn't clean up, and then they yelled and screamed at me and then threatened me when I told them I would write a bad report, and I am still waiting for a " life-time guarantee" which I was promised and should have been given to me at the end of the job.

Their workers did an outstanding job, but their sales reps don't understand the meaning of the words "get to the point". I asked them several times to tell me how much it's going to cost me and they kept avoiding the question and kept jabbering on about their product. One of the sales reps noticed that I was getting very irritated and finally gave me and estimate for $17,000. I told them that I could not afford that at this time, but once again, they seem to not understand those words. They kept pestering me about how it would increase the value of my house and how if I agree to buy now then they would drop the price a couple grand. I told them "no" and sent them away. I recieved a phone call a day or two later from them asking if they could stop by and give me a lower price. I agreed, and this time they sent someone who understands English a little better. His name was Mike and he was very proffessional. He measured the surface area of my house and gave me a quote for $12,000 without all the talking. I agreed to that price and signed the papers. The workers came out a couple of days later and began tearing off the old wood siding. They were proffessional and polite. The house looks amazing now! I really think it's worth the money.
Description of Work: I had Nu-Cote rip off the wood siding off the front of the house and put up stucco in its place. They also re-stuccoed other parts of the house that had cracks and chips falling off. They also replaced a couple of the old facia on the front of the house that were old and falling apart. Then I had them paint the entire house a different color.

Their process of patching all the cracks in the old plastered walls, putting fresh concrete/plaster on the footings, after digging out about 6" all around the house...replacing termite and water damaged wood on the front of our home...and after a couple of questions that they fixed immediately, they ended up doing an excellent overall coating/painting job. We chose this very nice, grayish/green for the walls..called "Forest Khaki, and we trimmed it with all white trim, and it looks very complimentary to the palm trees and other green plants in our yard. We have had several compliments from our neighbors as they walked buy and viewed the progress and that they loved the color, too. Several of them are interested in pursuing this company for their own 'new home look'. We are very happy with all there work and would definitely recommend this Nu-Cote company in the future. They came back to do a little more clean up before we gave them the final payment. They definitely tried to please at all times. Thank YOU Nu-Cote crew, for a job well done. They also installed a small door in the garage.

I have been in business for over 35 years. Contractors beware! Member is trying to falsely have his money returned that we earned doing an outstanding job. No where were we removing all old paint. All the preparation was done professionally. This house is a showplace. They tried to have the charges returned to them through the charge card company and they found in our favor to keep the money for our wonderful job. To prove our job is correct and professional, we have the Tex-Cote factory technician going there to take samples, opbservations, and then the project will be tested both chemically and microscopically. I will post those findings gladly. We will be happy to have anyone visit the site to see for themselves. Just give me a call and I will give you the address as a reference for you to see the lovely work we do. I believe Member is asking to be sued for this type of false claims that are hurtful to our great reputation. Member has never once called our office himself. All this harrassment goes through his secretary and we have asked to meet with him at the property to no avail. The steps of the job were all filmed. We have copious photos describing all the steps we did. We will be happy to share them with any legitimate inquiry that asks to see them. This is one of those attempts to beat the contractor. We did our job well, used ample material, the wood trim looks new and the stucco, though a 50 to 60 year old home, is well done and protected from the elements. The Coolwall material is proven by the Dept. of Energy to save on utilities up to 21%. The Member company simply wants to try to not pay $28000.00. The credit card company was too smart for this type of attempt and found in favor for us to have been paid. Folks, sometimes these sites are used by errant customers in an attempt to take advantage of the Contractor. Thank goodness Angie's List allows the Company to respond and be viewed by the consumers. I Love Angie's List. I, as president of the company, feel vindicated. I can, through Angie's List, prove to anyone that our payment is well deserve. Not only do they have a lovely job, but they now have a material that has a factory material warranty for free lifetime warranted material, and the Nu-Cote labor warranty in case their are service issues. I gave Nu-Cote my contact information at a home show when I was looking to remodel a bathroom. The woman taking my information was pushy, but said that they did bathrooms. After a couple weeks went by, I was called to see if I wanted my house painted. I told the person on the phone I wasn't interested in having my house painted, but I wanted to remodel my bathroom. The next day I was called and told they didn't do bathrooms at this time. Several weeks later a man called me and offered to do some sort of energy conservation consultation. I told him I was not interested but he was very rude and pushy. A week later I received a similar call, and I told them I did not want Nu-Cote to contact me again. A couple days later a man (sounding like the same one from the phone) came to my house trying to sell me the same energy conservation service, or house painting, or having a new front door installed. I told him to go away. Less than a week later I got another call from Nu-Cote and I asked if they would allow me to record their phone call. They hung up and have not called back. I've heard some rude and push salespeople, but Nu-Cote takes the cake.

Nu-Cote's response to the member is as follows. We apologize for any unwanted phone calls, or any perceived rudeness. We have a calling system that allows us to take a name and number out of the system. All it takes is that request and they should receive no further calls from us. Unfortunately the member was contacted at a time that we were not doing kitchens. and baths. But good news folks, we are doing them now. We are a 35 plus year company, and we do coating, windows, kitchens, baths, solar and roofing, and vinyl windows and insulation. Patios and sunrooms rooms are now offered also. Our growth is due to the great customer service we offer. Unfortunately, the member did not have that happy experience we like our potential customers to have. I do want the member to know that it is not our intention to offend anyone.. I always look at each potential customer like some day they may be our customer. I encourage our marketers and consultants to treat everyone the way they would like to be treated - with respect and courtesy. We have about 100 to 200 customers per month that we do business with successfully, and usually have rave reviews from our legitimate customers that we do jobs for. So I am disappointed that we did not please the member. If the member ever decides to call me directly, I will make sure he has a comfortable carefree experience with us. That is how it always should be for our customers. We offer fine quality workmanship, Each job has a production manager making sure there is quality control and good customer service. We have good communication throughout the job with each customer. I believe and convey to the staff here that we go to whatever extent we can for our customers. Each and every potential customer is very important to us. Every member of our staff knows the code of ethics that this company adheres to and must follow that code. We know that need to try hard so that we will keep our steller reputation. Most all of the websites that have reviews has us in the EXCELLENT grade range. That is what we strive for. We have been chosen by Sam's Club to assist them with window sales, and addtionally recently worked with Costco. We are always in the top percentile of Contractors. Description of Work: In 1996, we had NU -COTE, put siding on the outside of the house.It is now 2011,and it still looks wonderful.A few cracks were discovered in the finish,and they sent some workmen out to fix the problems . These employees were courteous , as well, as professional! They did a Marvelous job. In 2010, I had an artificial lawn installed in the front yard. They were quick! It took them a day! They lifted up the old yard, put down the new foundation of decomposed Granite and sand,and then put the new lawn in.It acts just like real grass, but you do not have to mow it!The dogs love it! Plus, maintenance and clean up is easy. Furthermore, the workmen were great and always took the time to answer my questions .Super professional! I inquired if they could repair the deck roof, because it leaked . Again ,they sent roofers out,and they took off the old roof and replaced the total roof. The first rain ,after replacement, was a nice surprise,NO LEAKS! I had 3 contractors repair it before these roofers fixed it properly. One gentleman from NU-COTE, went on the roof above the family room,he came down the ladder ,and informed me ,the roof was separating .I asked him to take photos,because I am not able to crawl up on the roof.He was so kind and obliged ,climbed back up ,and took the needed photos. The pictures illustrated the roof had to be replaced quickly.A date was set for the next week and and everything was done in one day.Furthermore ,this year, they have installed Solar Panels ,on the roof above the Family Roof. Our overall experience with Nu Cote was excellent. From the Sales person, Kevin Anderson, who explained the product and process completely. The work crew was here at the designated time and completed each procedure. Every step of the way our Project Manager, Gery Oeffner, was there inspecting the house and we signed off on each step. Our house looks great!!
Description of Work: We used Nu-Cote to paint our house. They power washed the whole house. Then they patched all the cracks and repaired the stucco where necessary. Primered the whole house, then painted the house and trim all in one day.

It went very well. The work crew was wonderful to work with, easy going but stil professional. The foreman was very pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful. They had us sign off during each step of the process: the pressure washing, repair of cracks in the stucco, and sanding any wood that they replaced.
Description of Work: They texture coated the exterior of our house.

I made an appointment with Nu-cote for an estimate for new double pane windows after receiving a call from them checking on some work I had done on a rental property. They were on time, and gave me an estimate that was higher than the one I had gotten from home depot but the windows were better quality (low E3) and they were able to do my sliding glass door. It took about 3 weeks for them to get the windows in and they were installed the following week. Installation went fast and the windows fit and look great!

Never have I received such a run-around as I did with Nu Cote. We have a large sky light which needs replacing. After giving the approximate dimensions to someone at the Nu Cote office, I was told that the cost would be $500. I declined. Some days later I got a call saying that they would like to send someone out to take actual measurements and "do what they can" for me. We scheduled a time to meet at our home. They never showed. When I called, they denied having made the appointment. This I found absolutely insulting since I had scheduled the time, cancelled another appointment, waited around for them, to no avail, only to be told that I was mistaken about there ever having been an appointment time scheduled! Later I received another call saying they really wanted to "do what they can" for me . . ." let's just schedule something." . ".let me verify" with someone or other. Then that person gets on the phone to tell me that in fact they can't do the work after all because they didn't put the skylight in in the first place. The final insult was when one of the men asked me to send a picture of the skylight and he would do what he could to help me out. I sent the pictures. Needless to say, I never heard back. If you choose to do business with this Company, you may come to regret it.

It is most unfortunate that Member had a bad experience with anyone, but the information she supplied does not sound like our company. First off, we would not even set an apointment usually for a skylight, as we don't do skylights unless we are already doing the whole roofing system. Then, if we do have an appointment, we call the night before to confirm. Plus we would never ask someone to send in a photo of anything, since we take photos once we visit the site. So a lot of what she writes siunds like she has us confused with another person or company. We are, however, sorry she had a bad experience with anyone. We wish her the best oin the project, even though it is not a project we would ever sign up to do. It is way under our minimum project requirements. I was very disapointed and would never use this firm for any work.
Description of Work: One of their canvassers came by and offered to give an estimate for restuccoing the house. I agreed and scheduled an appointment. A young man came out to give estimate. The young man spent most of the time at the house talking on his cellphone. I asked for a ball park estimate so I would have an idea of the cost. I never got one from him. I later received a call attempting to schedule the work even though I had not got an estimate or agreed to having the work done. I finally got a ball park estimate from a member of their staff over the phone which was much more than I was willing to spend. My impression was that rather than giving estimates they are interested in pressuring you to sign a contract on the day they come out.

To Member, Although we do not usually give ball park prices over the phone (as there are a lot of factors that go into pricing), we do give a discount if we can earn someone's business on the first visit. Nu-cote follow-up: After our service in 2005, I?ve had two occasions to call upon Nucote in the last year, for touch up jobs. In both cases, the service exceeded my expectations. The personnel were on time, did quality work, finished when agreed, and were pleasant as could be. It didn't cost me much, but they treated me like a preferred customer. The service was so extraordinary that I took the time to write the company a complimentary letter.

Lousy, we waisted 4-5 hours on these guys for nothing.
Description of Work: We had some repair work that needed to be done on the house and we invited Nucote to bid on the job. A gentleman came out to look at the job and do measurements. I told him from the start what we wanted but he kept stressing that he wanted to do the whole house. So we measured the whole house, which took a couple of hours to do. Then he came up with a $35,000 bid on the job. We told him that we were not interested in doing the whole house; we needed to get the repair work done for which we got a couple of other bids in the $4,500 range. He said he would look into it. The next day he called and said that he could drop the price because they were working on a condo conversion close by. The bid was now $27,000. Again, I told him that we were not interested in doing the whole house, we wanted the repair work done. He said he could work a bit more on the pricing of the whole house job. He really, really did not get what we wanted. Today, about 6 weeks later, another guy from Nucote called and said that they were working on a condo conversion (sounds familiar?) and that they could drop the price. Again, I expressed that we were NOT interested, but he kept on going until I was frustrated enough to demand to never call us again and to put us on their do-not-call list. I am sure they are a reputable company for big jobs such a commercial work, but totally not suited for the smaller jobs. We really had the feeling of dealing with a used car salesman.

Our coating is not comparable to paint as it is the only material that the Department of Energy has tested and proven to save homeowners up to 21.9% on their energy costs. It has a lifetime material warranty, and has features that inexpensive paint jobs just don't have. For example, it is between 16 to 21 mil thickness. Most paints are like 6 mils. The primer is exceedingly thick also. It is true that we don't compete with paint. Our Textured Coating Product is quite different than paint. We don't compete with porous stucco either. Our material IS a protector of stucco and is warranteed to keep the underneath stucco from disintigrating (effloresence). Our product warranty reads that it is warranted for the lifetime that the customer owns the property against effloresence, chipping, and peeling. We apologize to these folks for not being able to do the kind of lower end project they were hoping for. I have had the opportunity to hire a number of contractors over the last 30 years. From room additions to bathroom renovations, to kitchen remodeling, and I can honestly say that Nu-Cote is by far the best company I have ever had the pleasure of hiring. We first met the salesman, Michael Martinez, an absolutely delightful young man, who carefully explained in detail every aspect of the Tex-cote system-from how the company was started, how the system worked, how the process was done, to how long it would take. After the usual paperwork he told us to expect a call from the company within the week. We received a call, with in the week, from Field Supervisor Jerry Enfinger who informed us he would be by on Monday. AND HE CAME BY ON MONDAY! He met with us-explained what to expect over the next few days and said that the work would be done by Friday, and guess what?? THE WORK WAS DONE ON FRIDAY!!! Jerry was terrific; coming by the house often, keeping a watchful eye on the proceedings. And then there was the crew, the wonderful guys, Matteo and Sergio, who did all the hard hands-on work; these two are the greatest! Nice, skilled, polite --what a team!! The whole experience has to be the best I have ever had with a company. Nu-Cote--in my book YOU are the Champions of the World!

They had two teams, one for windows, one for texcoating the house. Both teams were very good and had great team leaders. They got the job done quickly with amazing attention to detail, and made sure we were happy every step of the way.

Nu-Cote behavior was unacceptable, unprofessional and unethical. They have not refunded my $1000 deposit yet. They made a promise and did not stand behind it. I have spent a great deal of time to research them and their product and driven around to see examples of their work (I demand reimbursement for fuel + time lost). My wood got exposed to more rain and I experienced a lot of agony. Before the company took my money and asked me to partially give up on my right to rescind, the company should have done its job of giving an accurate estimation. They also sneaked in a clause in the contract that allowed them void the contract at their volition before work commenced. This company claims that they have high standards of conduct (BBB membership etc.) but in reality, this is not the case. ($33,000)
Description of Work: The salesperson from Nu-Cote first gave over $47,000 in estimate to do the stucco+ tex-cote for my house. He expressed a willingness to match other contractor's price. After I had faxed other bid, he voluntarily lowered his price to $33,000 for stucco and Texcote and appx. $6000 for pop-outs. He came out to the property with a written contract. I was initially hesitant because this company has 21 complaints with the BBB. Because they were all resolved I decided to sign. I even partially waived my 3 day right to rescind so that they would get started right away without any delay because the wood was exposed to rain. I gave $1000 in deposit with my credit card. The company sent their project manager to the site and called appx. 5 days later called to let me know that they will not be able to do the stucco for the house for that price and that they were backing out of the contract.

ALTHOUGH IT IS REGRETTABLE THAT WE NEEDED TO NOT DO THIS JOB, NO MATTER WHAT COMPANIES THEY CHECKED INTO, THEY WOULD HAVE GONE OUT TO SEE THE REFERRALS. WE ARE PLEASED THAT THEY DID DO THAT AND DID LIKE WHAT THEY SAW. WE ARE PLEASED THEY CHOSE US. THE REASON WE DID NOT DO THE JOB IS THAT UPON FURTHER ANALYSIS AND SCRUTINY OF THE TOTAL ISSUES INVOLVED WITH THE JOB, THERE WAS MORE WORK INVOLVED IN THE JOB THAN WAS AT FIRST VISIBLE. IT IS RARE, BUT SOMETIMES THAT HAPPENS. IT IS NOT OUR PRACTICE TO THEN ASK FOR MORE MONEY, AS WE DO NOT BELIEVE IN GIVING ONE PRICE, THEN ASKING FOR MORE MONEY. THEREFORE, WE WOULD RATHER CANCEL THAT JOB, AND HAVE A CUSTOMER FREE TO HIRE ANOTHER CONTRACTOR. IF WE HAVE A SITUATION WHERE THERE WAS EITHER A CALCULATION ERROR OR UNFORESEEN WORK BECOMES AN ISSUE, WE FEEL IT IS MORE FAIR TO BOTH THE CUSTOMER AND OUR COMPANY TO ALLOW THEM TO FIND SOMEONE THAT CAN DO THEIR JOB AT A PRICE THAT INCLUDES THE ADDITIONAL WORK NECESSARY TO COMPLETE THE JOB SATISFACTORILY. When I got estimates to paint our house, Nu-Cote was not the least expensive. In addition, their record on Angie's list was not good, so we told them we decided not to hire them. Subsequently, the owner called and I explained why I was not hiring Nu-Cote. She assured me that the problems had occurred when they were in the kitchen remodeling business and they were much better now. She asked me to try them and assured me they would do a good job. I was attracted by the lifetime warranty on the paint, so I agreed to try Nu-Cote. It was a very good decision. They started on time; the crew was dependable, professional, considerate, and most importantly did an outstanding job.
Description of Work: Nu-Cote repainted our entire house. First they power washed the house, then they repaired the stucco where necessary, sanded the trim, trenched around the base of the house where necessary, applied a primer, and finally repainted the house and trim. Finally, they cleaned up. They did an outstanding job. The crew was professional. They were on time and there were no surprises.

CONTRACT WAS FOR $14,000. THE COMPANY TOOK 7 WEEKS TO COMPLETE THE JOB. THEY HIRED SUBCONTRACTORS FOR THE ENTRY DOORS AND SHINGLE REPLACEMENT WHO DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THEY WERE DOING. ALL THREE ENTRY DOORS, INCLUDING AN EXPENSIVE MAHOGANY FRONT DOOR, WERE INITIALLY INSTALLED IMPROPERLY. HARDWARE WAS IN THE WRONG PLACE, DOORS DIDN'T HANG PROPERLY, THEY WERE A MESS AND HAD TO BE RE-HUNG. COMPANY TRIED TWICE TO PUT UP SHINGLE SIDING BUT COULDN'T GET IT RIGHT. NAILS IN WRONG PLACE, PAPER AND WOOD BACKING IMPROPERLY APPLIED, BOTH EFFORTS WERE A HUGE MESS.
