Let me tell you about Oscar from Forrest Refrigeration. I had unhappy tenants who were not staying cool in the middle of Summer. I called ASI who came out twice in 3 weeks. Once to say everything was working great, and once to tell me I needed a brand new system and when would I like their Sales Guy to walk the property? I gave up on ASI cuz I felt like they were bullshitting me. So I see this guy on Angi just getting back into the business after an absence with zero reviews, zero stars. So I took a chance on him and boy am I glad I did. You know how most HVAC and tradesmen in general would rather die than explain anything to you? Oscar really took the time to explain what he was doing, why he was doing it and it turned out his instinct was right...the problem wasn't the condenser unit on the roof, but rather the "evap" coils inside by the air handler. The area around the coils is extremely tight. In fact, ASI didn't bother to even *try* to get in there and neither did Tarpy...they just thrust their hand up there taking pics with their cellphone. Oscar actually did manage to get up there, clean the coils and oh by the way a large piece of insulation had fallen down, draped over 30 percent of the coils. In other words, the hot air inside the townhouse was escaping 30 percent less well. Had ASI or Tarpy managed to actually try and fix the problem, they would've saved my tenants 3 weeks of discomfort. Oscar also said my air filter was super extra (Merv 11) which is great for a commercial AC, but too much for my unit so air wasn't circulating very well. So he replaced it w/ a Merv 4 or 5 and air is flowing much better. Finally, ASI guy told me "I needed more refrigerant but my refrigerant was 'R22' which they aren't allowed to add." B*******. Now, R22 *has* been banned from being sold or imported since 2020, but it is not illegal to add it. Oscar happened to have some R22 lying around his garage and topped off my system. Oscar finished up the job two days ago. I checked in w/ my tenants last night and they said "Oscar is a miracle worker." Cannot recommend this gentleman highly enough.
