Preferred Electrical Service has been carefully re-wiring the last bit old wire connections in a apartment building built in the 1930's. They are methodical, professional, work with the tenants well and have been providing documentation of the entire process. We have been consulted and updated every step of the way. The charges have been as quoted. It is a complicated job and we are so thankful we went with this service. George has been great to work with. We will be using him on our up-coming projects.

Fantastic! George really knows his stuff. First I hired them to add an outlet for an electric stove. I was happy with the work and I ended up getting an entire new circuit panel. Very quick, excellent communication, reasonable price, nice, clean job. Will definitely hire again.

Well. Electrician arrived on time, prepared to work. I will use this company again.

It went very well. I had them put in a new circuit although they advised that this was probably not the real problem. They came back a second time and discovered that it was not a bad circuit breaker but a short circuit in an appliance that was plugged in to that circuit. It took some detective work but they found the problem. I was both satisfied and impressed with their advice and their work. They were timely , neat and knowledgeable.

George came a early, had the right part already (we had texted beforehand), and did several simple troubleshooting steps to make sure my analysis (guess) as to the problem was right. He replaced the 60amp breaker, checked the Zinsco panel for problems (Zinsco is well known to have problems but this panel has been chugging away for a long time), and put in a new breaker very quickly. Our subpanel (and refrigerator) are now back up and running. Nice quick work - got it done when he said he would and back up quickly.

Got a very quick response, came within 1 hour. Every thing explained clearly and work completed in a timely manner. Very professional, courteous, cleaned up all mess afterward. I would definaely hire this company again. I felt the pricing was very fair.

All went smoothly. I was so happy with the way they handled the breaker issue that I had them install the recessed lights.

We bought a new pendant light thinking we could install it ourselves in the morning. We couldn't. I called at 10 and George was there that afternoon. He was able to give me enough warning for me to get home from work an hour away, and was right on time. George did all the electrical work super quickly but took the time to make sure the light was put together well and was stable. (It's from Ikea, so it looks good, but has some finish issues.) All this I realize we would have not been able to do, and we would have ended up keeping our old chandelier, or left it somewhere in the middle and sobbing. George then replaced our dimmer switch with one that worked with LED bulbs, again very quickly. He did all this with my dog whining at him. Thanks to George, our dining room is nice to be in and no one went to the hospital. (I guarantee that would not be the case if we had continued our DIY attempt.)

It went well. Contractor was punctual and professional. I was not aware that my $35.00 paid to Angie's List did not get applied to the cost of the full service performed. What did I pay for, since I could have called an electrician to estimate the job at no charge? Lessons learned.

The circuit breaker was replaced, but I called back thinking there was still a problem. They came back out and I realized later that the problem was fixed. While there the second time, grounding was also done. I was charged for the grounding, but he waived the second visit charge. I would not hesitate to hire them again. I felt they did a thorough job and made sure I understood the assessment and the service to be done. Overall, excellent!

He called on Sunday asking what was needed. He was told a light fixture needed to be installed in a fan and we had the light fixture. We also needed a new thermostat installed. On Monday morning he called and asked that the job be repeated and then he informed me he could not do the thermostat. He came out too 15 minutes to install the light and informed me it was $120.00. My Angie's list was not good for labor...even though I pointed out to him it says, 1 hour of labor to solve electrical issue if time allows and to address any other electrical issues. He claims it was only to inspect!!! Words cannot begin to tell you how upset I am at this. For the very first time in all my purchases with Angie's List this company is terrible and totally unprofessional. Why do I need someone to tell me a burnt out light fixture needs to be put back in???

I though George did a good job explaining what I needed and making recommendations regarding further projects I may need in the future. The bulbs and lighting selected were state of the art quality. George was responsive in regards to my time needs, and would keep me abreast of when he was coming.

George and his helpers did excellent work. He kept me informed at each step, explained my options and never pressured me to do anything.

The first light/fan switch could not be replaced as it was defective . I have to return it. I then asked George to install the electrical outlet and he said it would be an additional $65. I paid for the 1 hr. deal on Angie's list for $35. I mentioned that the deal said up to an hour of work. George said that it only covered one item. I went back and reread the deal and it clearly states one hour not one item. I paid the $65 as it needed to be replaced. He replaced it and was at my house less than 45 min. total. I would suggest that the $35 deal be clarified to read one item will be addressed NOT one hour. Also the deal said the second hour is billed at $25 less than the normal hourly rate. He said his normal rate was $85 so I should have been charged $60 for an additional item. Despite this, George appeared polite and knowledgeable. He suggested my first switch was not bad, but that it did not support an LED light bulb. I reinstalled a regular bulb and will see if this fixes the problem of the light intermittently blinking when turned on.

Went very well. Was told a new circuit wasn't needed and got an estimate for extending an existing circuit.

Bought the coupon, and as it happened the owner was available to come out immediately. He was here in 1/2 hour and solved the problem. Very satisfied.

The only electrician who actually answered his phone after 3 rings and came out the same day.

The search for a reliable electrician has finally ended for me. Preferred Electric has filled that shoe. I was wanting to replace my power panel as I was sick of the old breakers randomly breaking and costing $100ea to replace. Any electrician I would call had a "minimum fee" to come out. I called Preferred Electric and was impressed from the get go. George offered to come see the panel in person for the quote. He asked a few questions about what I was interested in doing. He brought with him a sample panel and different breakers. After I opted for his services on the spot, he immediately scheduled me for the work. Upon completion, he went the extra mile to make sure everything was functional before providing me the invoice. Very professional, and definitely recommended.

It went well. The original estimate was a little lower than what they charged but its a very old house and he found other problems that needed fixed while he was here. He took care of everything, was very careful, very informative, and gave me a list of things that I may need to take care of in the future. He was fast and efficient and didn't do anything that was not necessary. I also appreciate that he gave me alternate, more affordable options. He thought creatively and productively in his work so that he could give me work that I could afford to get done and make sure that my home was safe.
