I found James on Craig's List and got two other estimates besides his. He, I believe works for a union as he lists himself as a journey man plumber for 15 years. He was the least expensive but also seemed to know the most about how to do the job because running a gas line can be tricky. He was on time, did not complain about the commute (since he lives in Jamul and I live in Bay Park) and was professional and courteous. I asked for an email bid (for the equity line) and he promptly responded with a professional online bid suitable for printing. He showed up to do the job on time, and finished on schedule. He did want to work after hours which was okay with me (i.e., at night after regular work). He brought all the tools to do the job but did inform me that he didn't do drywall for the hole left by the new gas line but that was OK because it was in my closet. All in all, a good conscientious worker. Don't believe licensed. Fair price and cleaned up after himself.
