Called Baker's due to their proximity to my home. He actually provided a lot of helpful info on the phone, before we even set up a time for him to look at the dishwasher. He came over promptly and started trying to resolve the issue. There as some kind of buildup of soap residue in the drain, and we couldn't get the drain screen off the machine. The long and short of it is that he was dogged and dedicated in his determination to solve the problem. He spent HOURS and several approaches trying to get it working properly. In the end, he was here for three consecutive days, for several hours each day, and always deferred when I offered to pay him for his time. (I was observing when he was working on it, so I know he wasn't milking the clock). After he successfully solved the problem, and confirmed it without a doubt, he charged me an extremely modest fee, relative to the amount of time he spent on it. He also followed up with a phone call several weeks later, asking if everything was still working properly (who does that???). I recommend him highly, and will definitely call him again when I need another major appliance service.

First of all, let me say that this was a review that should have been rated an and quot;Aand quot;, but lack of follow up and customer service caused me to drop this rating to a and quot;Dand quot; overall.

The repair person was very courteous and called to indicate when he would arrive as he was running late. He was very professional in diagnosing our problem. As he did not finish until after his parts supplier closed, he was unable to give me an estimate of parts/repair for the follow up visit. (This assessment was on a Saturday). He indicated he would ring me on Monday following after his supplier was open.
I had not heard from him by Tuesday so rang the main office. They said they had to track him down, and he would return my call. This never happened and so I rang the main office yet again. Whomever I spoke to was neither courteous nor helpful and only said they would call him again. No apology, no explanation. Again, no return call from the repair person. I went back and found my receipt where the repairman had listed his cel # and I was able to contact him in that manner.
The repairman indicated that my cooktop was discontinued and Thermador was not supporting it, so no parts were available from his supplier. He told me that he had another source and would ring me the following day with a status update.
Needless to say, several weeks has passed with no follow-up.
This is completely unacceptable customer service and I would not recommend this business to others on this basis.

4/27/12 update
Poor service is simply sooo disappointing....after getting no follow-up from Roman Appliances as to availability of parts for our thermador gas cooktop, we called the mfg directly. Contrary to what RA told us, the parts are available again and Thermador provided a website wherein we could purchase them. Called RA and spoke to the technician who came out originally. He said he would call us back after checking this out. A week has gone by with no response. I cannot give Roman Appliances anything other than a and quot;failand quot; rating for such poor customer service and lack of knowledge regarding the brands they claim to service.

Roman came twice; once to diagnose the problem, then again a couple of days later to install the parts after they arrived. He was very professional, prompt, and did an fine job. The stove works perfectly now, far better than it has worked in a long time. Most of the expense was for parts -- the electronic control panel alone cost about $420. Labor charges seem fair.

I called Roman Appliance Repair and he was able to accommodate the date and approximate time I requested. I was told he would arrive between 12-2, and he arrived at 1:15. The only negative thing I can say is that Roman is not a personable guy. When I didn't promptly answer his knock at my door (because I was with my baby), he called the house phone and was very rude. However, he was able to diagnose the problem (the gears were stripped in the agitator) within minutes, and had it fixed within an hour.

He was very good but it just took a little while because he had to get a part in. That was fine and he was very good. He was a very nice person and I liked him. He was pleasant. The price was reasonable. He was local and almost in my neighborhood. I enjoyed talking to him and he did a good job.

The service man was very nice. He told me he could have done the job, but advised the better solution would be to clean the dryer vent and ducts. They are a very honest company. I have used them for other services.
