David Bird was very personable and cared a lot about the project.  He offered ideas and listened to what we wanted.  His employees were hard working and respectful.  The work was done very well and in a timely manner.  The only issue we found is that he is sometimes very busy and is hard to get a hold of.  Once you've got him, though, he will do right by you.  We have called him back through the years for smaller jobs and referred him to many, many friends.  Mr. Bird is definitely a personality and you need to be aware of that.  But, when you figure him out, he's great to work with.

Not good. We signed contract on 8/24/09 and gave $1K deposit then we didn't see him again for several months. Demo finally started the beginning of December 2009 and our roof was completly removed. In early January we experienced rain water coming through light fixtures and down our walls inside our home because the house wasn't properly protected. We phoned Jackz and they sent one guy that didn't know what he was doing. The owner (David Bird) didn't arrive until much later the first day. This happened on more than one occassion during the stormy season. We experienced severe ceiling, wall and personal property damage and Jackz gave us a terrible time correcting it. We lived with mildewy sheet rock for weeks and not all of it was replaced. After the rains, we kept telling Jackz Builders that we thought there was a gas leak. We could smell gas and were feeling sick and our dog was sick. One day in February 2010, we mentioned it to the plumber and he brought to our attention that Jackz Builders disconnected our water heater vent when they dismantled our HVAC system in December 2009. For 2 months carbon monoxide was being released into our home and David Bird knew about it and didn't do anything. We had to force him to correct it. After the framing was complete, David Bird expressed that he was short on funds and he tried to get us to pay him early on several draws to get our finish work. We felt that he cut as many corners as he could at our expense. After the granite was installed in our master bathroom, David Bird didn't protect it when installing our vanity cabnetry, causing deep scratches to the sink and bathtub granite. We asked him to fix and it appears that there was a filler put on just those areas because the finish is very inferior. We brought this up to David Bird and he didn't respond. Jackz Builders was to reinstall and tye in our HVAC system and they couldn't get it to work correctly. We hired an outside company to a**** the situation and they found that ducts were not connected properly and dampers were inaccessable. We provided this report to David Bird and he contacted the outside HVAC company and determined that they were correct in their findings. He said that he would fix the problem, but then abandoned the project. Our project was to be done by March 2010 and it still isn't complete. What a nightmare. David Bird smoked and used vulgar language inside our home even after being asked not to several times. We found him to be very disrespectful of our home and our family.
