This service was provided via a home warranty plan, so the cost of service is determined by the home warranty plan.  The service was excellent.  They did a great job, they were punctual, and addressed all of our concerns.

After cutting a large hole in my wall to get "better" access to the pipes I was told that after using a camera the clog would not be removed and that he needed to "jack hammer my bathroom floor" in order to find and repair the clog. And of course when done they would not be responsible for any floor repair. Thank god I said no that I would wait until I returned to get it taken care of. He charged me over $500 for his time in destroying my wall. I returned to my home, rented a drain router from Home Depot and cleared the clog on the first attempt. Time spent about 30 minutes including the pick up of the rental from Home Depot. For some reason the credit card I gave them did not get charged, I think they must have copied a wrong number ofer the phone...I am going to get a consumer protection agency involved as the attempt to resolve over the phone ended in a shouting match and me being told that the he had "cleared thousands of drains". I was willing to pay something for his

Did not go well.  My gas main developed a leak after the repairman they sent had to turn it off and back on when he was working on the hot water heater.  Granted it was really, really hot (like 112 degrees) that day and everyone's patience was stressed to the limit.  The condo I live in is almost forty years old so the gas line was in bad shape and would have had to be replaced sooner or later anyway.  So I'm not really blaming them for causing the leak but their defensive attitude was not professional.

Installed defective parts twice.   Left with flooded bathroom -- ask if they would clean it up.  Told it would be "okay."  I now have a huge yellow stain on white carpeting.

This company had to come out two days in a row for a simple snaking problem.  They told me I needed my sewer pipes jet washed - which I do not - and offered to reduce the price of that from $500 to $400.  I declined.  They also told me that the outside sewer cleanouts right in front of my house were not functional - they are. They charged me $200.00 and the problem occurred again a month later, so obviously, they did not fix it.
When the back-up reocurred I called a different company for the same problem; they cleaned the pipes using the outside cleanouts that according to Tommy Rooter weren't attached to the sewer line. They took care of the clog and charged me $88.
I called Tommy Rooter to talk to the owner and try to get my money back. I was told that since I had a 30 day warantee I should have called them AGAIN, which I thought was ridiculous because this is one of the simplest and most common problems that any plumber deals with, and they hadn't managed to get it right in two visits; why would I waste my time with a third?  . I was told the owner would call me back to discuss this (and why they charged me more than twice the amount the other plumbing company did without even fixing the problem) with me on Thursday morning.  It's now Saturday and he has not called.
I feel my only recourse is this bad and accurate review on Angie's list. I made this possibility of a bad review very clear to the office manager when I spoke to her, so it seems abundantly clear to me that they don't care what their rating is on Angie's List.  In sum, my experience with Tommy Rooter was bad:  the origin of the plumbing problem was inaccurate; they failed to fix this very simple problem; they grossly overcharged me; they tried to sell me a service that was expensive and that I did NOT need; and they are unresponsive to clients once they have their money.

As this is my first time writing a report, note that the above explains the situation and circumstances surrounding the work.  It appears I may have written it in the wrong box, but I believe I've gotten my point accross.

Overall it was an excellent experience with Tommy Rooter.
