I found that the owner was not very receptive to my concerns or requirements--she seem to get defensive when I questioned her choices, and seemed very reluctant to modify the plan at all. Huh? She also took the plants that were in my photos and assumed I wanted those plants--regardless of their maintenance or future size--when I explicitly told (more than once) that I was not an expert on plants and although I liked the look of certain plants that did not mean I was willing to use them regardless of their short comings. I looked to her to give me alternative plants that would provide a similar look but meet my overall requirements. After all, she was the expert (as she kept telling me).
Even with these contentious conversations, I was willing to have her complete the work. I knew she was slammed with other jobs until after Thanksgiving, but expected to hear from her before then to at least get final plans drawn up, estimates revised, plants picked out, prep work (demo, irrigation) done, etc. I didn't hear from her for 2 months, so I called her early December. I didn't get a call back, so after a couple of days I just decided to scape the whole thing--I didn't have the time or willingness to babysit her and her contractor to get these done when they promised. Obviously she didn't need my business. I asked for my deepest it back and it was returned immediately.
tMy whole career has been around customer service, and she sure could use some help there. She comes across as arrogant, defensive and just plain difficult to work with. She doesn't really listen, spending most of her time talking at you rather than listening to you. Life is too short to work with people like that, I don't care how talented they are.... or think they are.
