they are nice for the most part, but they did the same service twice in one year. the first time was in March of 2013 and the second time was in October of 2013. I did not drive 30,000 mile in that time. I drove less than 5,000 miles. I was on maternity leave for a good part of that time. the first time they charged me $129.95 and the second time they changed me $149.95. these people give mechanics a bad name!

+ -1 moreMy air conditioner was serviced about 4 years ago with the same problem. I was told at the time my car had a small condenser and needed to be kept completely full of refrigerant to cool properly. I ask Dave why the condenser couldn't just be refilled with refrigerant as in the past. He said he couldn't do that because of the leak. He claimed there was no refrigerant in the condenser when they did the test. I ask why the AC had cold air when I brought the car in? Dave said he didn't know why. I felt something was wrong with this picture so I took my car to Trinity European, a repair shop that I trust, for a second opinion. They inspected and serviced all necessary components and found no leaks. The compressor was also in good shape only making a slight noise. Trinity filled the condenser with R134 refrigerant with dye. Cost of service $100 . That was over a month ago and AC is working just fine. I was very disappointed in Schmidty's Garage lack of honesty and integrity, I find it interesting that they had so many good review on Yelp,
Description of Work: Problem: The air condissoner in my 2002 Toyota Highlander was in need of service. It was still blowing cool air but not cold enough in real hot weather. Dave at Schmidty's Garage claimed to have performed a AC Performance Test (Install leak detector dye pressure test). Dave said the condenser was leaking and the compressor was very noisy. He claimed I needed both a new condenser and, compressor with dryer, EVAC and recharge at a cost of $1,200 plus tax.

I've always been paranoid about getting ripped off at an auto shop - I'm pretty cynical in that I assume a mechanic/contractor/car salesman will rip me off unless they prove otherwise. So it's with great relief that I found Schmidty's Garage. Shane is very honest as to what your car needs/doesn't need.
