Gene is local and has been used before. Responsive and does great work.

Gene is the best. He knows what he's doing, he's honest enough to tell you what he CAN'T do (and it's not much), and he's fair and ethical. In a world full of liars, shysters and con men, HIRE GENE.

Flawlessly. I've never had anyone in this house who was more courteous and professional. In addition to his overall expertise, his genuine caring for people shows in everything he does.

It could have been better. Gene was the only service provider on Angie's list that I called who would even consider this work. Lots of others listed themselves as handymen but were really contractors for large jobs. Gene said he'd bring his son along in case the tank was heavy (it was!). They arrived and Gene's son began work immediately while I discussed the work I wanted done so there was no standing around. They were the epitome of efficiency and I had was struggling at the end to find things for them to fill up the hour. There is a minimum of 1 hour of work. They even removed the dead bird that was behind the water purifier.

He was quick, knowledgeable and friendly. We will call on Gene again.

Gene and his son picked up the replacement water heater from Lowe's and installed it in less than an hour. They were prompt, friendly and professional. I recommend them without reservation.

Gene was on time, courteous, and professional. He works efficiently and is very interested in doing a perfect job. We will continue to call him for future repairs...he did a great job!!

Gene and his son were great.  They did a lot of the jobs I couldn't or did not want to do.  Would hire them again in a second.

I own a couple income properties and they get messed up by the renters, and when they move out there is plenty of work for my handyman.  Gene has been working for me for many years and he can fix just about anything and does it perfectly and fast. He doesn't go from our job to another until our job is completely done and I really appreciate that.

I had a bit of trouble reaching Gene at first, but when we finally talked he was very apologetic and polite.  My "regular" handyman was booked solid for a week, and I needed some one right away.  Gene was able to fit me in his schedule, which I really appreciated.  My roomate/tenant's bathroom sink drain came apart  and Gene fixed it with time to spare.  He also fixed my hall closet door which had de-railed and I could never fix myself without getting totally frustrated.
  I'll definitely be giving Gene a call in the future.  I just home he doesn't get TOO busy.

He called back quickly after a message was left.  He lived nearby and responded first thing the following day.  He had performed this installation previously and took less that the estimated time to complete this installation.  Cost was reasonable. He cleaned up afterwards.  His van was clean and appeared to be well stocked.

Awesome! He was professional, efficient and friendly. We highly recommend him! We intend to continue using his services for all our home repair needs :-)

He did not work out well. He was reasonable but I just remember something negative about using him. He was not as reputable as I thought it was going to be. I thought he is from Angies List and this guy is going to be honest and something like that but it was not. I did not deal with him directly I had a property enhancement deal with him. I had to get somebody else and I don't know the other person that I had to go up there worked a lot better. However I don't remember the specifics.

The mailbox at a rental home was knocked down and the post broken. I called Gene and he provided me a time he was available to fix the mailbox and install a new post. He was extremely punctual, and even texted me while he was doing the work with pictures. He then texted me a picture of the finished work, and was very reasonably priced. I would definitely use him again for other work. Thank you Gene for a great job.

On time, professional, nice to my aged mom--in short, just great. He made one mistake but came right back out and remedied it. There are probably less expensive handymen out there, but I am very happy.

I looked on Angies list and chose a local handyman and he couldn't fix the problem, but recommended a plumber who subsequently fixed the problem. I was impressed with Gene because he worked on my bathtub valves approximately an hour but didn't charge me a dime.
I am impressed with his honesty and skills.

We had a list --- Gene not only POWERED thru it, but he made adjustments to avoid our having very costly modifications (for instance, we had to install a large vent panel into a cheap heater door --- the door wouldn't have been able to accommodate it -- but he had the tools with him and today it's in their PERFECTLY ---- I had volunteered to buy a new door (a better door).Okay, there were other items on our list --- and after his visit, each and every one has been done. Anyone else would have said we need to get a new sink --- which with time and labor would have meant a trip to the store. But Gene had the parts with him to COMPLETELY RENOVATE the area under the sink PLUS he fixed the old sink and even the trap works now. He charged us a great price - parts plus time --- I should go back and give him all excellents (just did), because he was done in record time and again, everything on our list was done really nicely. We are already sure that we will use him again --- and for a project he indicated isn't something he wants to do, he has his own set of professionals to save us the time and trouble of locating.We are totally delighted with Gene Opfer's Mr Repair and I can wholeheartedly recommend him to you. Gene arrived promptly at the scheduled time and went straight to work. He made a special trip to OSH to get materials for an additional problem that I had not previously addressed on the phone. He's professional, knowledgeable, and pleasant; and I'd definitely call him again if the need arose.

He had to come back three times to fix the plumbing work he had done.

Gene had a very business like and had a friendly attitude.
