STARLITE CONSTRUCTION

The house, generally, was well-built. But, most of the specialty items were not done properly (or at all). The electrical system was not done well. A 220-volt circuit was not installed at all, even though on the blueprints; this has left me to this day with no instant hot water in the back bathroom. Other separate 110-volt circuits on the blueprints were not installed, so I could not run room air conditioners in particular bedrooms. The house has had constant problems ever since. I have long extension cords running around, to get power, and lights flicker all the time. Also, during construction, he told me several times that he did not want to do something in the contract because he gave us too good a price on the construction. So, I allowed him to eliminate 100s of dollars of things listed in the contract. And then at the end of construction, he asked me if I wanted to have him build me a driveway into the garage. It cost at least $1500 to re-do the sidewalk and curb. After construction was finished, we gave him a letter with 6 things he had done incorrectly (not including the electrical issues). He did not fix (or attempt to fix) any of them. One that was most annoying was, he placed a hollow-core interior door for my back door. It was flimsy, and way too small to fit properly in the opening, and let the noise come through. We just let the whole thing go, and did not pursue action against him. I would say that he can build a generic house OK, but do not ask for anything special.
