Our initial contact with Nick was very promising and professional, and although not the cheapest estimate, we decided to engage them.
We signed the contract and the work began in early May, 2014. The workers showed up as scheduled, but things fell apart after that. They did not have the correct fencing - which we only discovered after they had almost finished the installation. Also, the 6' gate, as installed, was almost impossible for one person to operate. We pointed these problems out to the workers, but they were not very fluent in English, so we stopped the job and the workers left. We phoned the office on the following Monday. This led to weeks of daily phone messages and emails not responded to, then finally an explanation that they did not have the right material, would order it and get back to us. It was the end of May when this finally happened, and we were leaving for the month of June, so we had to postpone the job until July. The old chain link fence and gates laid piled up in our driveway for the entire month of May.
Finally the job was completed on August 4. And, to be fair, the fence looks beautiful and the gates work perfectly. But, the following morning we awoke to the sound of water gushing, and discovered that the workers had broken the irrigation line in several places - they had to have realized that they did this, and we were angry that they did not tell us. On the contract, the company assumes no responsibility for such damage, but the workers should have told us so we could deal with it immediately. Then, as we repaired the breaks in the line, we discovered that the workers had dumped all the broken concrete and rubble from the job around the hedges next to the fence. After all this, we have no confidence that Hemet Fence Co. can be trusted to clean this up without causing further damage, so we will take care of it ourselves. BUT, we are extremely unhappy with how we were treated by this company, and will never do business with them again.
We were patient and polite, yet at no time were we given an apology, or offered an adjustment in price for the inconveniences caused. Their standard response was to complain about how busy they were. If you are too busy to return phone calls from customers, there is a huge problem with your business.
