Buyer beware. If you think you are buying fine furniture from this store, think again. We ordered and had shipped to us one of Dovetail Collection?s Green & Green desks. We had visited the store on one of our wine buying trips to Healdsburg and it looked to be reputable. After the desk arrived I noticed that the legs on one side had pulled away from the skirt. Upon closer inspection I discovered that the joint was made using a biscuit. This type of joint is just one step up from using glue and nails. At a minimum you would expect to find a floating tenon in fine furniture and more likely a classic mortise and tenon joint. The use of a biscuit or even a dowel joint is something I would not have expected to find. When I expressed my concern all the owner of Dovetail Collection wanted to do is send someone to my house to ?fix it?. They could not even admit that it was improper to advertise this desk as ?fine furniture?. I am a fairly good woodworker myself having taken classes with some master woodworks and know that using a biscuit for this type of joint in fine furniture making is just not heard of. I also checked with one of my old instructors. While they did give me a refund and pay for the shipping back, they stiffed me for the $500 original delivery charge. BUYER BEWARE.
